Last mile issues

The order took its time traveling from eastern Europe to Portugal. When it arrived to the distribution center in Lisbon, I was contacted Wednesday, January 21 2026 to deliver the goods to my door next Friday, 23 of January, by a portuguese person. As I was absent that day, we agree the goods would be delivered Monday, the 26th of January. That day came and went without any contact, notice, update or delivery. Today, Thursday, the 27 of January, I tried to contact that same number but I was unable to talk to anyone after many tries. Then I got hold of the main company operations number and I was told they outsource the last mile delivery to a local company. I was also told they cannot assure such company will contact me if they are unable to deliver the goods on the day we previously agreed. Well, if you are a delivery company and you fail customer expectations on such a basic concept: communication, then there's not much more to say, isn't it ? What about certifying such companies to a standard where communication with the destination is mandatory ? Good idea, huh ?
The person on the phone was really kind and managed to give me some feedback and contacted the last mile company which, in turn, told her the package would arrive tomorrow. Hey ! Good to know ! Thank you ?
Meanwhile, 3 stars so people know how you do business. I'll review this rating, if needed, when/if I receive my goods and it better be tomorrow.
