I’ve been with DEA for a while, and it has been the right choice for me. Data Engineering requires many skills — SQL, Python, AWS, Snowflake, Spark, dbt, and more — and DEA’s materials make these... See more

Let me state that I do not have much of a tech background. The most formal education I have is an (ASEET)and the most complex software used have been programs like (revit, CAD, solidworks, excel, ect.). So, this has been practically a brand-new experience for me. Currently still learning SQL but can already tell how valuable this skill set will be. My advisor Cristian Mamota has been on point, very professional, positive and gets you focused on what you need to accomplish to succeed. I have no doubts that my time with DE Academy will lead to a job in the data space.

So I'm a couple of weeks into Data Engineer Academy and figured I'd share my thoughts for anyone thinking about joining. A little background on me - I've got about 10 years of experience total, started in sales then did a bootcamp that got me into full stack development with Java and Angular. The company I work for now trained me on a completely different tech stack, which I've been using for about three years. I'm making way less than the average software developer though, so my main goal here is to upskill and double my income.
When I was researching Data Engineer Academy, everyone I talked to seemed genuinely excited about the program and super helpful. They were really clear about what they offer and what the expectations are, which I appreciated. No BS or overselling, just straight talk about what you'll get and the work you need to put in.
Two weeks in, I have to say they've been awesome. They give you all the materials you need and they're constantly following up to make sure you're sticking with it and seeing how you're doing. They offer help whenever you need it, which has been great. What I really love though are the group sessions and Q&A calls - you can join whenever it fits your schedule. It's one thing to go through the material by yourself, but hearing other people ask questions (including ones I didn't even think of) really helps reinforce everything. Plus it's nice knowing other people are going through the same stuff.
The combination of video lessons, practice problems, and just repetitive practice has been working really well for me. I'm already way better with SQL than I was when I started, and that's the only material I've covered so far.
Would I recommend Data Engineer Academy? Yeah, absolutely. If you're willing to put in the work, I've got zero complaints so far. 10 out of 10, would recommend to a friend.

DE Academy has supported me in so many ways right from the beginning. Upskilling boosted my confidence, and job applying support has been really smooth and motivating. The guidance at each step, especially with interview prep, gave me a lot of confidence. I’m thrilled to have landed my target role and am really happy with the overall experience. Thank you!

I’ve been part of DE Academy for a month now, and I’m genuinely impressed with how much I’ve grown in such a short time. The support from mentors and the community has been incredible—always there when I need guidance or encouragement. With the right tools and the right people backing you, it’s amazing how quickly you can move toward your next big opportunity.

I joined DE Academy to grow my data engineering skills, and the program has been practical and engaging with hands-on lectures. Hector Salgado has also been a great guide, but I think having more sessions with coaches would help, sometimes I get lost, and the skool calls don’t always fit my schedule. Overall, I’ve gained strong skills and confidence, and I’d recommend DE Academy to anyone serious about data engineering.

I joined Data Engineer Academy with a background in troubleshooting and systems logic, and I was looking for a program that didn’t waste time with fluff. DEA delivered. The curriculum is well-structured—from SQL and Python to cloud tools and data modeling—and the weekly live sessions helped reinforce concepts with real-world clarity. What stood out most was the coaching: responsive, knowledgeable, and focused on helping you build actual career momentum.
The platform is flexible enough to balance with work, but still rigorous. If you’re serious about transitioning into data engineering or leveling up your current role, this program gives you the tools, the guidance, and the confidence to make it happen. I’d recommend it to anyone who values precision, autonomy, and practical results.

"I joined the Data Engineering Academy to strengthen my SQL skills, and it’s been an excellent experience. The tutorials cover all levels, and the coaches — especially Afnan Saeed — are knowledgeable, patient, and supportive. The academy provides honest feedback and guidance that truly helps you grow and keep up with the fast-changing data world. I’m grateful to the team, including Christopher Garza and Nikolai, for their support.

I signed up for DEA because I foresaw that my company was moving in a strategic direction that meant I would have to look for a job soon. And I am glad I did because my foresight was correct. So far, I have been working through the preparation material over the last couple of months while still working full time. The staff was very patient with me on the challenges of working through the program while fully employed - shoutouts to Cristi Mamota for being flexible and consistent on keeping accountability. Some of the material could use more polish as the audio and video is not always great and the structure/ordering did not always seem logical. All of the staff is great for mock practice and if you’ve never done mocks before then this will boost your capability significantly. Overall, I would recommend this to most if you can look past the lack of polish and recommend starting on smaller tiers of the service and moving your way up as you gain more conviction in the program.

I came in with intermediate to advanced level knowledge in OOD, looking to build real world data skills.
I am learning what I need as every job listing requires something else new that I don't know and they teach it ALL here with a multitude of practice questions, tutorials and documentation, community support on skool and live chat on the platform for building memory and dissecting questions about day to day real world applications from top companies.
I'm intermediate with SQL now and advancing at a decent pace. Coaching and check-ins keep me on track without letting me get ahead of myself.
I share my experience daily with everyone I know to entice them to learn data. I'll have more credibility inside my new job when I can excel in a team environment to help them grow with me.
I have no desire to stop at analyst, I plan to stay onboard until I reach senior data engineer. Ingestion and storage of data is my ultimate goal.

I had a really positive experience working with them. They not only guide you step by step through the process but also provide valuable support with mock interviews, resume preparation, and navigating job applications. What really stood out to me was how practical their approach is—they focus on real-world scenarios and help you build the confidence to showcase your skills effectively.
If you are considering a transition or looking for growth in the data engineering field, I highly recommend working with them. Their mentorship and guidance can make a big difference in helping you reach the next step in your career.

Data Engineering is very rigorous with follow-ups ensuring that candidates indeed are upto speed with the materials and project work. I also found it easy working with their SMEs, brainstorming questions and seeking personal feedback. All in all, they have a very nice structure to intake candidates and their backgrounds and then tailor a plan for them.

DEA has been great, the online interactive course is amazing and very approachable. Their knowledge on whats the best way to attack learning data tech stacks is super helpful allowing me to learn full tech stacks very quickly! The mentorship has been amazing and very kind. Yash has been very reassuring and helpful throughout the process which has definitely kept me motivated and determined to continue learning!

Currently going through the materials and everyone here has been more than available to help me with questions that I have. I find value in this program and wouldn't change the experience with anything else.

Great instructors and good learning of fundamentals.

It’s a good program. It is at-your-pace which is difficult if you have other responsibilities in life. It’s good to talk with coaches but I wish there was more availability for one-on-one time.

The material provided is good. It is for the most part a self learner style program, with classes a few times a week. The couches are nice as and supportive....Overall, not bad.

Coming from the audio-video sector, I realized the technology I was working with was becoming outdated, and I needed a career change. Since I’ve always been more of a back-end developer, data engineering felt like the natural next step. After comparing several programs, the Data Engineering Academy stood out because it was far more structured, practical, and comprehensive.
What impressed me most is how valuable the assignments are — every project builds real, job-ready skills. The coaches are very accessible, and the supportive community of peers has been just as valuable, since learning from others’ challenges helped me solve my own. Transitioning from systems design engineering into data engineering would have been extremely difficult on my own, but this program made it achievable.
I’ve gained not only technical skills but also confidence in my new career path. I would definitely recommend the Data Engineering Academy to anyone serious about becoming a data engineer.

I have had an excellent experience with this program. The course content is very well-structured and easy to follow, with detailed modules that make learning SQL, data modeling, Python, cloud computing, and other core concepts straightforward. The weekly live sessions are incredibly valuable—they help clear up any doubts and reinforce what you’ve learned throughout the week. The team is very supportive and responsive, and the resources provided are extremely practical and helpful.
I also really appreciate the personalized approach. The coaches give constructive feedback and guidance that help you stay on track and improve continuously. The program’s flexibility makes it easy to balance with work or other commitments, allowing you to learn at your own pace. Most importantly, the curriculum is focused on real-world tools and hands-on projects, which makes it very practical and directly applicable to data engineering roles. This program is a great choice for anyone aiming to advance their career and land high-paying jobs in the data engineering field.

This program is amazing. Studying SQL and Python in DEAs leadership track, and doing these projects has made a huge difference in my career and am hoping to get back to work as early as next month - in a job paying $250k a year!
