I have worked here for several months. Overall, the platform is simple and direct. The tasks vary in difficulty. My reason for not giving it 5 stars is job offers are often uncertain. I check the... See more

Good side hustle for the analytically minded
So far, DAT gets full marks from me.
It is selective to get in, and I think that's where some of the problems and disgruntled reviews come from. There are also very strict rules about how you use the platform, and anyone caught trying to fudge stuff is kicked off pronto.
The won't tell you if you don't get in, and comms are minimal, but if you're literate and analytical it's a great way of making some money on the side. It is absolutely not a scam.
Payments have always been processed quickly for me.
Email got ignored & failure to receive funds
Email got ignored. Told them the problem wasn't on my part and I haven't got paid for the work I've done. do better!
Watch out what IP you use during sign-up
Completely locked me out, as an American overseas. Forced me into a bilingual test when I only speak English. Just don't apply for this place if you are on an overseas IP. They will lock up your phone number, never get back to you, and you just won't be able to work there. Reddit is littered with people who have had similar problems, along with complaints that they never get back to you to fix it.
This works very well for me
This works very well for me. Once I had done the basic qualification several projects came up. I've worked on a few, doing a few hours here and there as suits. Pay comes 7 day later. Definitely not a scam, just takes a bit of time and effort to get started.
Scam
Got approved to work for them at the beginning of March and still haven't seen any qualifications pop up on the portal. Scumbags are probably data mining.
All the reviews are Negative and they…
All the reviews are Negative and they are connecting on linked in offering work which pays you well but I only have heard about people wasting there time here when after work there id are just getting disabled stating Violation strike.
this is how they get there work done too and do not have to pay as well
Report on linkedin for Fraud. This is a serious scam Do not apply
This is a serious scam, I expect a lawsuit for them to be honest, they are farming job applications for data and then probably hiring a ridiculously small percentage of applicants. I wouldn't be surprised if this company will have a large lawsuit against them in the future. I know multiple people including myself who have been unable to contact the company after spending time answering the application questions. They do not give any update on applications. I myslef applied for two different roles and attempted to contact them regarding both on many occassions and received nothing back. It's pure unethical data harvesting. Do not wase your time. I will be reporting them to relevant authorities for investigation and gathering evidence. :/
exhausting
I did the biology test- which was about 45 minutes long. The info is fairly complicated.
Then I figured I'd do the "Core" test. It's MUCH longer than they say it will be. There are complicated comparisons of prompts and lengthy results. I dumped 90 minutes into it, which is 6 tasks. Task 7 popped up and I think maybe they're using these tests as a free workforce.
Ghosted & Disappointed
It’s been a month since I have completed the onboarding tasks. I’ve received no qualifying assessments and no projects ever since. I was really hoping I could use this as something to do in my spare time and increase my income. I have no hope that I’ll be getting anything. Disappointed.
Avoid at all costs
Avoid at all costs! My account was frozen without any reason or explanation. There is no real support and I never received any response. My funds are still frozen, which means I basically worked for free. Outlier or Alignerr are way more reliable options for AI jobs.
This company is a complete farce
This company is a complete farce. 0 communication from support, 0 communication about assessment status (which are unpaid tests you have to do in order to qualify). A complete insult to anyone who works there or wants to work there, look at the companies' subreddit and you will see their true nature; only serving their own interest, and completely inhuman toward employees or applicants. People getting dropped without notice, very fluctuating amount of jobs and often low paying (0 job security), 0 communication on their part.
In short, a complete insult and not professional at all. I'm writing this with the hope that the company reads this and course corrects, if they don't it will be set up to fail. I wish you all the best.
50 dollar fee for verifying bank details
i did the work recording but then when it was time to get my payment , i was asked to pay 50 dollars as they required the companys id and my bank account details to be clarified - they never mentioned this until i was asking for payment , it sounds very fishy to me , anyone else do a voiceover for them and then being asked to pay 50 dollars upfront
URGENT: Earned balance withheld and zero support for 1 month
I am extremely disappointed with the lack of transparency and professionalism from the Data Annotation Team. My account was recently suspended under a vague allegation of "attempts to defraud the payment system," with no specific details provided about what was supposedly violated.
I have already sent multiple emails over the last month seeking clarification and, more importantly, requesting the withdrawal of the funds I legitimately earned through my work on the platform. To this day, I have received zero response.
It is unacceptable to withhold a worker's payment without explanation or communication. I demand a clear response regarding my suspension and an immediate way to withdraw my outstanding balance to my PayPal account.
Warning to others: Be careful, as they may cut off your access and keep your money without any right to defense or support.
**Do not become dependent on income from this company**
I passed the assessment and qualifications and was onboarded in May 2024. From May 2024 to March 2025 I worked about 10 hours/week on the platform while working full time. In March 2025, I began working for DataAnnotation.tech about 30+ hours a week. This worked great for several months and then in December 2025 came the day where I hit the button to "Get Paid" when I should not have. The way payment works is you generally wait 7 days for payment on a task/project and once you "cash out" you have to wait 3 days to cash out again. I ended up usually cashing out every week or so and should have absolutely paid more attention before hitting that button. What ended up happening was that they made an error on their end and repaid me for 2 days I had already been paid for. I did not realize what had happened until later that evening when I got a message from support telling me about an error and "please don't cash out funds for the next 24 hours". I got this message from support HOURS after I had already cashed out. I immediately responded and apologized profusely, saying I am more than happy to pay the funds back (it was about $200) or have it taken out of future pay. I never heard back and by the next morning my account was disabled for violating their terms.
I worked on multiple different projects of varying pay daily to stay engaged and keep my quality of work up. There was never a period where I didn't have work available and I could have worked more.
Never rely on this as a source of income (even side income), even if things are going great and you think there's no way your submitting subpar work. I realize most people know this (and I am at fault for not paying attention) but the opportunity to work from home is alluring...I read so many reddit threads before attempting full time with DAT that gave the same warning and I didn't listen.
Seems they are down
Seems they are down. No reviewing of your assessment and no assignments. Also no response to sent messages. Don't waste your time.
Scam
A scam getting people to provide services for free. The “assessment” takes about 90 minutes. Didn’t hear back after 2 weeks (they say a decision takes a few days), I emailed to ask for an update and never heard back. Waste of time, don’t fall for it.
Good until they ghost you
Don't let the reliable payment system fool you. I spent three years working here, only to have my account blocked without warning or feedback. The instructions are never clear, and getting a response from support is impossible. It is incredibly discouraging to be treated as replaceable after years of loyal work.
Data mining
I completed all their evaluations and was instructed to "check back in a few days" for the results. Well, that was the better part of a month ago and I'm still waiting. So I'm lead to believe that this is just a data mining operation at this point and that they aren't accepting new applicants. I helped train AI alright, just not in the way I expected.
That page is here to claim your time for free…
That page is totally about you spending 30-60 minutes working for free, gives them huge diversity in programing AI - thats false advertising, in poland this company would get trillion dolars penalty and the board would be sitting in prison for life xD shame on you !
Hard to tell whether this is a scam…
Hard to tell whether this is a scam or not, after successfully completing the starter assignment, I have been unable to access the system, simply receiving a message "reviewing results" even though I have received confirmation that I have successfully passed. Emailed to query this, still awaiting a reply after a week, far from "easy to use" which is what the glossy advertising would have you believe.
