Cycle Breaks has been organising self-guided cycling and walking holidays since 1991, from our base in Suffolk, England. Each holiday includes hand-picked hotels, daily luggage transfers and clear route notes or GPS navigation. Because no two tours suit every rider, we are very happy to work with you before booking to match your fitness and expectations to the right trip — and we'd rather not sell a holiday than sell you the wrong one. We look after all arrangements directly for our itineraries in England (Suffolk, Norfolk) and work with trusted local partners across Austria (The Austrian Lakes, The Danube, Mur River Valley), France (Alsace, The Dordogne, Languedoc, Loire Valley, Provence), Germany (Baltic Coast, Lake Constance, Moselle, Munich Lakes), Italy (Trentino/SudTirol, Piedmont, Puglia, Tuscany, Veneto), Portugal (Algarve, Alentejo) and Spain (Catalonia, Rioja, Valencia), plus Bike & Boat holidays in Austria, France, Belgium, Holland, Hungary and Italy. We welcome solo travellers, couples, families and groups, with e-bikes available in most areas.

A successful week. As always Cycle Breaks were very professional and helpful.
We really enjoyed our holiday in Provence & the Camargue. Cycling through this area was a great way to see & experience beautiful southern France. The Cycle Breaks team were very helpful & responsive. For the holiday we went on they used another more local company. The local contact was really helpful, friendly & reliable with the luggage etc. Thankfully we didn't have to call him for technical assistance. The hotels were mixed. One lovely, one young & cool, most ok, one not great. Lots of amazing places to visit & would have loved more time for this - ? 10 days with sightseeing days? The directions were mostly pretty good, with a few exceptions (arrows the wrong way round etc), but it was a bit like a treasure hunt with the treasure being the destination- good fun! I thought it was a good route, with lots of interesting things to see.
I would recommend this holiday, & the assistance from Cycle Breaks, who were always very helpful & responsive.

Really great routes expertly chosen with hints and tips on where to stop and visit which you would most likely miss left to your own devices.Great hotels too
Great, easy and very helpful service from Cycle Breaks; we were delighted and would definitely use them again.
We were a german group of 6 people aged around 50 and booked the Ipswich - Bury St. Edmunds tour. We arrived with our own bikes by ferry from Holland.
A representative of Cycle Breaks met us on the first evening and introduced us to the trip. We got all our questions answered and a lot of maps and a very good description of the route and places of interest.
Cycle Breaks had send us the GPS tracks by mail, so navigation by smartphone was very easy and we never missed the way. The route was interesting and about the right distance per day (40-70Km). We did especially like the selection of accommodations.
The customer support by Cycle Breaks before and during the trip was exceptional and they were very flexible when it came to adapting the trip to our needs (additional days, no luggage transfer, own bikes, etc.) We can wholeheartedly recommend Cycle Breaks and especially the the Ipswich - Bury St. Edmunds route. That was a cycling trip with 5 Stars.
Fabulous, couldn't fault it, the garmin that was loaned to us to follow the suggested cycle route was so easy to use, my son was in charge, the only time we went off piste was when mum was navigating with OS map!
Highlight was arriving at Flatford ( Constable country ) by bike before it got busy, very special
Seckford Hall a treat, but all accomodation comfortable and quirky. Country lanes a joy to cycle along. Highly reccomended
This is the best cycle holiday company I have been with. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They are easy to get in touch with re any queries or information you need via phone and I like the personal touch, as this seems to be missing with a lot of other companies. They provided very detailed itineraries for the holiday and even advised us on how to get to them via public transport. A Garmin was also provided and we found this very useful along with the ordnance survey maps. We were picked up from the train station before commencing our holiday and dropped off there at the finish - very good all round service. We would definitely use Cycle Breaks again when booking another cycling holiday.
Very enjoyable holiday.
Booking was arranged smoothly and efficiently. The route was ideal from a cycling perspective, the bike superb and the guidance and back-up provided by Mario first-class. All of the hotels were excellent with pleasant, helpful staff.
It was one of my best ever cycling trips and I hope to be able to travel with Cycle Breaks again.
great holiday well organised good maps great accommodation, would recommend it to anyone
We (a Dutch couple, retired) had a very nice holiday, cycling through Suffolk. Cycle Breaks’ service is great. The hotels they chose were very good. Our luggage was transported. The Suffolk countryside is lovely. We were there in May, with flowering trees and beautiful fresh green leeves all around. The roads require just enough effort to be pleasantly tired and content at the end of the day.
An excellent short break in the lovely Loire countryside, with good accommodation and food. We had no problem finding the hotels and the routes were easy to follow.
Accommodation was pre booked, and we were please with the flexible start and finish dates, so we could choose a holiday of exactly the right length. Good quality maps were provided (eg OS 1:50,000),
We stayed at 2 centres:
1. Auberge du Centre, Chitenay: a very pleasant hotel in a small village, with attentive staff. Very good food and local wine. We used this as a base for some circular routes.
2. Hotel le Clos d'Amboise: a quiet hotel in central Amboise, with an excellent restaurant. Very narrow streets to access the hotel but behind the facade there is a large garden, swimming pool and parking area.
An excellent two day walk from Southwold to Orford. We enjoyed the views, the nice little towns, their excellent pubs and peoples friendliness. Cycle Breaks provided a very good service: walking information was accurate and up to date, taxis always on time and luggage transfer worked without any issue. A sure recommendation!
We rode the Suffolk Smoothie and found this to be a perfect weekend for both a bit of exercise and relaxation. The route was perfectly pitched to suit our level of riding and made the most of the beautiful Suffolk countryside, with The Crown in Bildeston providing excellent accommodation and food.
The organisation and Cycle Breaks team were also brilliant and very helpful.
A great weekend!
A great break from beginning to end.
Cycle Breaks did all the hard work up front - selecting a lovely hotel, and liaising with the bike rental company. Everything sorted as soon as we arrived. Cycle maps were great and our stay was marvellous.
Not much more to say, just a wonderful holiday.
An excellent 3 day cycle break with well planned routes, good maps, and suggestions regarding what to see on the way. Very good accommodation and the company managed to arrange the trip for us at short notice despite being the middle of the summer holiday period. We would certainly recommend to others and be happy to use again.
My "cycle break" was beautifully planned by Cycle Breaks. Because of their attention to detail I had a great eight day solo experience despite some personal challenges which included my age (66) some hot weather, and as I am Canadian, my lack of familiarity with left hand driving! Scenery was beautiful, and hotels excellent. Enjoyed the gearing ratio on the bike. Hope to try another route before I am really over the hill!
Cycle Breaks, in conjunction with their European partners, arranged a very enjoyable holiday in Italy - cycling from Bolzano to Verona. The route was well planned and took in some beautiful countryside and interesting towns and cities.
This is our third summer holiday in a row (Tours-Angers, Classic Provence and now Turin & Piedmont Star) with Cycle Breaks and once again we've had a brilliant time. Andy and the team in the UK did a superb job sorting out all the details so that we simply enjoy the cycling, the beautiful towns and countryside and perhaps the odd wine or three. Had great time in Turin before heading out to Romano Canavese and the the Spa Hotel Relais Villa Matilda which was simply superb - didn't feel we needed to use the gym and sauna but the luxury pool was wonderful after a day cycling. Thanks again for a great holiday - will be in touch soon as we have already decided on your ""Venice, Veneto & Vaporetti"" holiday for next year
