Cycle Breaks has been organising self-guided cycling and walking holidays since 1991, from our base in Suffolk, England. Each holiday includes hand-picked hotels, daily luggage transfers and clear route notes or GPS navigation. Because no two tours suit every rider, we are very happy to work with you before booking to match your fitness and expectations to the right trip — and we'd rather not sell a holiday than sell you the wrong one. We look after all arrangements directly for our itineraries in England (Suffolk, Norfolk) and work with trusted local partners across Austria (The Austrian Lakes, The Danube, Mur River Valley), France (Alsace, The Dordogne, Languedoc, Loire Valley, Provence), Germany (Baltic Coast, Lake Constance, Moselle, Munich Lakes), Italy (Trentino/SudTirol, Piedmont, Puglia, Tuscany, Veneto), Portugal (Algarve, Alentejo) and Spain (Catalonia, Rioja, Valencia), plus Bike & Boat holidays in Austria, France, Belgium, Holland, Hungary and Italy. We welcome solo travellers, couples, families and groups, with e-bikes available in most areas.

This was our third cycling trip with Cycle Breaks - they have an amazing team who are flexible, responsive, and work with you to find the best outcomes. Their partner in Spain was excellent as well (Lazy pedals). Spent time walking us through our entire trip on the morning of day 1. Just a great experience overall on this 8 day cycling trip, from the route, to our accommodations, experience, and the cycling break team!

A day's cycle hire, the bikes were comfortable and well maintained, everyone I spoke to was friendly and helpful. It was no trouble to get my own saddle and phone holder fitted, and we had a number of routes to choose from around our preferred distance on an easy-to-use app. A really enjoyable day's cycling thanks to Cycle Breaks, I would recommend!

Everything went smoothly and as expected. The team kept me informed at each stage and provided all the necessary documentation which had been provided in a personalised manner with very clear and concise information

We enjoyed the holiday very much. The route plan was clear and the rental bikes high quality. The luggage transfers were smooth and when we had a problem it was quickly resolved.

Outstanding routing and great accommodations made for a terrific cycle tour by Cycle Breaks. They are responsive and interactions are personal. This tour was even better than our first tour with Cycle Breaks.

We had a great break - there was a good choice of bike- friendly routes to cycle; the booking etc process was straightforward and the team were very helpful; and the accommodation was great.

I booked a Norfolk 3 day cycling holiday with Cycle Breaks and found the entire experience from initial enquiry to return Home to be incredibly positive. The booking experience, communication, instructions and tour directions themselves were all exemplary. The accommodation and location of each establishment was perfect for a short trip of this nature, perfectly placed in every respect to enable us to tour North Norfolk and all it has to offer. From Countryside to Coast, coffee shop to cafe there was a new surprise awaiting us at each turn. The mapping provided was GPS enabled and downloaded directly to our phones. Each day this provided a choice of routes in respect of both distance and direction of travel. This really created a bespoke experience, and enabled us to follow the weather or the points of interest. The team at Cycle Breaks were on hand if we needed them, but as a result of their impeccable organisation, planning and advance instructions we didn’t. This really enabled us to ride freely and focus on enjoying a truly memorable holiday. Thanks Cycle Breaks, will definitely recommend and book again.

I cycled through Suffolk solo. Cycle Breaks provided what they said they would. They worked hard to customize my route and make it enjoyable for me. They provided everything I needed to make it a great cycling trip. All the staff were great, very helpful, very kind.
It was a good route mostly on side roads and some paths. The surface was sometimes gravel or broken pavement so the bike they provide was good for the conditions. I saw lots of small villages and great scenery. Lots of pubs and cafes along the way to enjoy and great pictures of thatched cottages and centuries old buildings.
The accomodations were mostly in pubs which was explained before the trip. I knew sort of what to expect (side note, most pubs don't have a/c although I didn't need it). All the staff at the accommodations were very friendly, helpful and service oriented. Many of the buildings were very old and quaint.
I was very worried, being alone, that I would get lost but it is a testament to the GPS app they provide that I found my way without difficulty. You do need an up to date cell phone and auxillary battery to run the app and navigation for the whole day.
The only slight issue I need to mention for customers from North America, the company only takes credit cards for the deposit. The main payment is bank transfer to the U.K. It is kind of like "Venmo" in the states but it is a totally different system. You will want to research it.

We had a great trip in Suffolk last July...did not review but would have been a 5...
Trip in Norfolk this July had several glitches...biggest being the app guide which failed badly and made our tour difficult to stay on route. Company admits it's far from perfect...but declined to apologise..or offer anything to compensate...eg a discount on a future trip..
So that would be a 2....

This was our third cycling holiday with Cyclebreaks. 6 days cycling from Bolzano to Venice covering 40-70 km each day. It was a very well planned route with wonderful scenery between cities with great architecture. Great service from Cyclebreaks and their local partners Eurobikes. The information and App provided was excellent for preparing for each day's cycling, particularly a very strenuous section between Verona and Vicenza.

We used Cycle Breaks to organise a cycle holiday on the 4 day / 3 night "Castles, Rivers & Woodbridge" route through Suffolk.
Throughout the booking process the team at Cycle Breaks were fantastic helping to put together a fantastic itinerary for my 81 year old dad and I. I hired an eBike from Cycle Breaks which was in great condition, easy to use and charge the battery in my room each afternoon before dinner!
We were supplied with a route to be followed on a smartphone app and it was brilliant. Each day there were 3 routes to choose from - suggested, short and long. Not only were we taken on a delightful route through the countryside, but the route signposted good places to stop - including opening hours and the sort of refreshment available! Lots of places for tea and cake - perfect. It also pointed out places of interest which we used for stops on the way to learn more about the region.
The accommodation was very comfortable and with tables for dinner booked for us by Cycle Breaks we really didn't need to think too hard each day - just enjoy the holiday.
It is worth saying that the weather was against us on the trip - yet we had a super time. I look forward to booking future breaks with Cycle Breaks and may try European routes next.
We recently returned from an 8-day Provence and Camargue cycle tour, our third trip using Cycle Breaks, having previously undertaken two similar trips to Puglia and the Dolomites in Italy.
Once again the tour was well organised, staying at some excellent hotels and using good hire bikes, supplied by their local partner Ruckenwind - my Ebike was excellent + I was impressed by the smartphone navigation system supplied before departure, which faultlessly guided us clearly throughout the tour.
My wife and I have been cycle camping for many years but the luxury of having your bags carried ahead each day + a good bed each night is very appealing and I'm sure we'll be returning to Cycle Breaks again soon.

I went on a 5 day Girona & Catalan Coast cycling trip solo with Cycle Breaks. From the outset, communication was great, they were super helpful at booking, and the pre-trip communication and information provided was excellent and very well organised. The trip itself was brilliant, v beautiful scenery and very comfortable hotels, efficient luggage transfers and good choice of towns (the most beautiful is Calella de Parafrugell) which is truely outstanding. I would highly recommend using Cycle Breaks who do a stellar job, far superior to the better known "bigger" cycle holiday companies in the market at a better price to boot!

Great communication. Really appreciated the ability to add additional days in different cities. Strong local partner in Portugal that did a great job covering off the maps, GPS, bikes, etc. Great accommodations! A really great experience overall!

Our Alsace cycling holiday went pretty well to plan, and the weather was perfect. All the hotels were good to excellent, with the pick being the one in Kaysersberg.
The only slight blip was that the bikes which we were due to pick up bikes from the Hotel Monopole Métropole on Tuesday 26 Sept were not there. After 20 minutes or so the hotel receptionist informed us that the bikes were stored in a hotel by the station, about 600 metres away. All was fine, after this initial misunderstanding.
