THE GREATEST PART has been the customer support. I was frantic when my first box did not show up. She helped me get all my boxes and I am eternally grateful for how kind and patient she is. I left 1 star out just because this is a new experience and it is fairly interesting. Otherwise it's a great experience.

We did not receive our Legacy Box. After notifying Support, they did send the box, but did not reply or notify me they had sent it, leaving it sit on my doorstep for several weeks while we were away. I am still awaiting a response over two months later.

Support does not respond properly or appropriately to Support issues. This lousy Support and Chinese Shipping company are likely to cause us to never subscribe again and make certain anyone we know does not get suckered into a deal with Curiosity Box or MelScience.

Update and copy of my email to Curiosity Boc Support:

I just got a response from Support via Trustpilot that is quite short on facts and truth.

First, when I subscribed to a year of Curiosity Box back in November, I did so with Curiosity Box's assurance, or at least the suggestion, on your website promo that I would receive both the Season's Box and the Legacy Box by Christmas. The Legacy Box failed to arrive in a timely manner. So, it wasn't that I was worried about it, as you snarked, but it was something that I believed I had paid for and was not going to receive.

I have attached, as an .eml attachment, the very shipping email you sent me regarding the Legacy Box. You stated it was dated Dec. 25th. That email was actually dated Dec.27th, a full four days after you sent it and a full two days after it actually arrived. In addition, there was no email prior to that Dec. 25th email that requested a response from me. CB is designated a safe sender, and I thoroughly check my junk folder twice each day, so it did not get inadvertently discarded. Prove it! Send me that dated email, and not just some phony image of it!

I did get an email the next month, which I have attached to this email, on Jan. 4th from George at CB letting me know the package had been delivered, and with a tracking image, but not the tracking link that I had asked for. This email did not require my response.

Finally, I have received no response from CB concerning shipping to a different country, save the one that you provided in your Trustpilot response. You claim that CB sent it, but, like your other claims, they seem empty of fact or truth. Send me that dated email and prove it!

I don't like your attitude. Now I wish to escalate this to your supervisors. I expect to get a response from them and hear their opinion on the matter. I'll be following up with an actual phone call and physical mail correspondence if I don't hear back from you within a reasonable time. You want to engage with me? Then engaged we shall be.

Update:

Supervisor George has been professional and truthful, and solved the issues to my satisfaction. I am optimistic that his review of and action on these issues will improve the areas of deficiency within Curiosity Box. I have modified my rating of Curiosity Box from a 1 to a 4.

The items in the box are fun and interesting. I've already spent several hours with them.

I purchased Curiosity Box for my son as a Christmas present. He loves Vsauce and was very excited to receive the box. We have since received one box and all of the items inside were as stated high quality science toys. I helped my son set up his sun dial. He is reading the book he received. It's a great way to foster scientific curiosity and I am all for that.

I used the packages for my homeschooled son; they're the BEST. High-quality and interesting topics. Easy to use but complex enough to tickle the curiosity of my teenager. Next to that, it's also good to freshen up my knowhow :-)

My teenage son got a subscription for Christmas last year and he (and I) have enjoyed it so much that it got renewed again this year. The products are always well-made and so much fun. When t-shirts are included, they are always high-quality. When books are included, they are always interesting and never just a cheap softcover. The boxes get better and better each time... and customer service has been top-notch any time I've had any questions or concerns!

Genuinely good value. The small-press science books alone would be worth the subscription cost. But you also get high quality T-shirts and other fun things.

My friend liked it, but $60 + shipping is a lot of money (for me)

My son wanted the curiosity box subscription (4 boxes a year) as a birthday present and we ended up doing it for two years. It was great with lots of little gadgets that were fun and teachable, easy to understand information on each of the products and some great t-shirts to wear. I felt the boxes were good value for money and my son loved them. And it was extra special because it was a birthday present that was spread throughout the whole year.

Simply did not get what I ordered and have not heard back in a timely manner.

I have been a subscriber for a couple of years now. As a math teacher that teaches AP Statistics, I absolutely needed the denary dice set. Once the box fell in the truck in town and the label got soaked in some sort of oil that made it unreadable. By the time I asked the post office, they relayed the story to me and mentioned that it had been sent far away to a place where they try and figure out what to do with such packages. Curiosity box was quick to send me a replacement box. All other shipments have arrived flawlessly and been spectacular! I really appreciate implementing oddities into my classroom. I gave most of the Legacy box during Christmas 2024 and requested a replacement instead of having to search out resellers online. They obliged and even switched out my shirt since I had spilt coffee on my atom shirt. Linda Rocks! I am looking forward to seeing what sort of curiosities they concoct in the future. Thank you for all the awesomeness!

As of now, I have received 3 boxes which were filled with really interesting puzzles, learning material and books. Books I would have never even thought of getting, but really enjoy reading now.
Everything related to astronomy is also fascinating. Plus, the Light Year Bottle is by far one of the best ones I have ever used.
If you have the disposable income, get it!

Excellent and intriguing products each quarter- the surprise aspect to it makes it great.
Also incredible customer service- while I have had one or two small issues over time, these have been dealt with very quickly and satisfactorily by their support team

Some wonderful stuff. I found it a bit overpriced for some boxes but generally good value.

My son loved the very unique and interesting items that came in the boxes. Included was information about the items that was informative and educational. He got SO many comments when he wore the T-shirts!

I would heartily recommend the Curiosity Box to anyone who is interested in science or is, indeed, just curious about the world around us!

I received my second box yesterday and delivery was fast and the box well packaged. The items that you receive in each box are varied and interesting and all so far have been of great quality! The books have been great and the best part is that the items are not things I generally would have bought for myself but I know I definitely would have been missing out!

I would recommend anyone considering trying the Curiosty Box to give it a go and there is always the option of getting a single box before committing to an annual plan!

MelScience should be part of elementary school syllabus and parents can be the force behind implementing it. We loved it! Every box is carefully and curiously designed and crafted with supporting app and videos. Experiments are peculiar and masterfully designed.
Customer service is also brilliant and supportive even via email which is rarity these days.
Keep going scientists!

I have a house full of curious people, and everyone enjoys this box. The books are great for lounging with some tea... and the gadgets are funny ways of looking at the world.
It's always a new adventure.
