Well that takes the biscuit

After buying a round of drinks, asked for a dog treat, only to be told"The biscuits are only for locals,I replied that I am a local, the manager replied you have to visit the the pub every day for 40 years. He then went on to seal the jar, even the staff thought this was harsh.I discussed this with the owner the next day,she replied "Well what can I do".If not for passing tourism, this pub would be struggling.

DO NOT waste your money

DO NOT waste your money. Booked for Sunday Lunch, as we sat outside and had a couple of drinks in the sunshine the day before and from general observation, it was busy and many people were ordering food. Big mistake; waitress didn't know what the specials were, e.g if the pie came with a mash topper or pastry....! I ordered a pork roast dinner and I have never in my life been presented with such poor food. The slices of pork were swimming in runny gravy, there was a few sliced carrots on the side, with two roast potatoes and one new potato - giving the impression they had ran out, so shoved a new potato on!! Upon tasting, the pork was tasteless and the potatoes were preheated and definitely not fresh. it came with a side plate right out of 1980 of creamed spinach, cabbage and more carrots. I was asked if everything was ok and decided to be honest, however this fell on deaf ears as the chef wasn't interested! Also, when we originally ordered, we had to give our payment card over, so we didn't do a runner (apparently) I think they need to review 'why' customers might want to do a runner if they are getting that kind of service - utterly disgusting!

Poor Service, Mediocre Food, Expensive, Some Nice Things

The Crown & Trumpet Inn is a 17th-century hotel and pub in the picturesque village of Broadway in the Cotswolds (UK).

I visited for lunch, and this was my first experience there.

The building is pleasant, and one lovely touch was the presentation of the cutlery and napkin, which were in a paper pouch.

Food was expensive. For example, one scoop of ice cream cost two pounds.

Food quality was mediocre. The chips and onion rings were (in my view) excessively greasy, and one of my guests believed that her meat had not been freshly cooked but reheated.

Two waitresses were on duty.

One did not know what one of the menu items was when I asked for details, and she had to ask other customers. She also got my drink order wrong; instead of the requested tap water, her colleague arrived with tonic water.

The latter was the one who served at my table. She was unsmiling throughout.

When I left, the pub was quiet. Despite saying goodbye to them, neither waitress bothered to reply or thank my party for our custom.

The business owner can make one immediate improvement that is simple and costs nothing.

The waiting staff must be fully knowledgeable about the menu. They must also greet customers on arrival, smile throughout their contact, enquire whether everything is alright, and at the end say goodbye and thank customers.
