I recently stayed at Fonab Castle

I recently stayed at Fonab Castle, which is a beautiful location just a stone's throw from Pitlochry, known for its wonderful theatre and the famous Fish Ladder. The grounds are stunning, with many lovely walking paths. Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by Davie Johnston, who offered us a dram and provided an overview of the hotel. The views from the castle are breathtaking.

Our rooms were clean and warm, and the shower was fantastic! We spent a few hours enjoying the spa area, using both the pool and the steam room, which was a lot of fun. However, we felt that this area needed some updating, as it seemed a bit tired and more like a 3/4-star experience rather than a 5-star one.

The food is incredible, and the staff are all very friendly. As a vegan, I felt well taken care of, with more than one vegan choice on the menu — a small miracle as in many places there isn't even one! Everything I tried was delicious. However, I would have appreciated more options for dessert and at breakfast, such as vegan yoghurt and vegan croissants (which I know exist and can be delicious). Unfortunately, there was a whole section of the breakfast menu that I had to skip because it didn’t include anything suitable for vegans.

Would I go back again? The quick answer is yes; it’s a special place. If you’re a cat lover like I am, be sure to say hello to Cocco, the feral cat who lives under the fir tree outside the castle. The staff at Fonab Castle go above and beyond to welcome you and make your stay memorable.

Golf View Hotel & Spa Nairn near Inverness - definetely no address for relaxed quality holidays! Price-performance ratio absolutely unreasonable and outrageous - never again!

We (4 persons) booked 2 double rooms for 3 days. The rooms are spacious with carpet floors which were musty. The wooden window frames are totaly rotten and drafty and moss was growing in the window frames (!!!)
Each day breakfast has to be booked for the following day at specified times. For example, one day only at 7:15 or 10:30, the next day 8:45 or 9:30 - only the offered (always changing) times are possible to book!
Breakfast time is extremely long as there is no buffet and the waiting time for each order is at least 15 minutes; minimal portioning for each person - for the four of us:
5 slices of toast (cold, re-ordering more slices of toast took 20 minutes)+ 3 slices of cheese + 3 slices of cold cuts + 2 (!) small pieces of butter + 1 breakfastspecial of choice
With the exception of two people, the entire service-staff is very young and friendly but inattentive and incompetent. (Examples: at breakfast I ordered haloumi and got a venison meatball instead, after roomcleaning the bedcover lay crumpled on the ground, a bathrobe crumpled on the armchair, long waiting times..)
Spa: the pool is clean with a very nice view, the sauna tiny with narrow benches, the water of the only shower in the indoor pool flows in individual drops.
I could write more, but I think these examples are enough.

Chevin Country Hotel & Spa - Fourth Visit

Just returned home from our fourth, yes FOURTH stay at the Chevin Country Hotel and Spa and already looking forward to our next visit.

Why do my wife and I love this Hotel so much, over many others we’ve stayed at ?
The Hotel is set in a Woodland surrounding which is so peaceful and tranquil that you easily fall in love with the silence and relaxation this promotes.

The Staff, from the Manager to his Team are always so pleasant and extremely helpful, you actually feel like a valued guest and not just a number like you do in a lot of ‘Corporate Hotels’.

The food ? Well, the food is to die for, from the cooked breakfast to the Six Course Taster Menu - each course is so different, well presented and cooked to perfection. If you fancy upgrading to a steak, chips, onion rings, vine tomatoes and a sauce for the main course - you will NOT be disappointed.

The leisure facilities, spa and treatments are all fantastic and the spa prices are very reasonable. My wife had the Ultimate Day Spa with treatments, lunch and a cheeky prosecco and loved it. We both made use of the sauna, steam room, swimming pool and topped it off using the Outdoor Hot Tub - absolutely fantastic.

We also had an Afternoon Tea which was beyond amazing, with each individual cake and pastry freshly baked and still warm.

What else we love is that there are plenty of parking areas throughout the entire grounds so that you are never far from your car.

All in all, such a relaxing, welcoming hotel that we will continue to use again and again - we cannot recommend the Chevin Country Hotel and Spa highly enough.

Again, from my wife and I, thank you so much for another fantastic stay 👍

A really relaxed environment.

We stayed at Go Urban Glasgow a few weeks ago because it is opposite the Glasgow Climbing Centre and we were attending the Scottish Schools Climbing Championships. The management allow owners' dogs if they're well behaved- the dogs must be too,and as we had a great time there last year we decided to stay again. The atmosphere is informal, the rooms are comfy, the dining room serves very nice fish and chips, the breakfast menu is good with an incredible array of fruit ,muesli, rolls etc etc. and there is a large bar and tv / lounge. For dog owners, you can duck around the back and go over the road bridge , turn right and 100 yards away is a good park for walking in. I would thoroughly recommend this Hotel.
