DO NOT BUY – Shockingly Overpriced & Poor Customer Service

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY – VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE

I paid £475 (50% deposit) to Crazy Price Carpets on 8th September 2026, but was not given a proper itemised invoice showing exactly what I had purchased, including the carpet, underlay, fitting and door bars.

Despite repeatedly requesting this basic information, I have still not received a proper breakdown. I also found what I believe to be the same deal elsewhere for around half the price, making me feel I was being seriously overcharged.

I requested cancellation and the return of my £475 deposit and have now had to contact my bank while the matter remains unresolved.

In my experience, this company is far too expensive for what you get. I have since found other carpet companies offering better prices and a much more professional customer experience.

Complete rip-off in my opinion. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY. Shop around — you can get the same or better carpet for far cheaper elsewhere.

2 stars is being generous!!

2 stars is being generous!!
I wish I had read the reviews on this company before hand, as I would never of gone near them.
So much mis-information and the worst customer service I have come across.
I had a guy called Walter come to my home to measure for stairs and a small landing, arrived on time and was a nice guy, once he gave me the quote which was very reasonable I asked if I could pay by card, Yes certainly was the reply, I asked if they did weekend fitting as I work Monday -Friday and it would be difficult having someone at home. Yes was his reply, we have 11 teams of fitters so it shouldn't be an issue. Great, everything was going so well. They required a 50% deposit, which was fine, until Walter tried to call the office to get no reply, this went on for about 15 minutes. In the end he advised that the office would call me to take the deposit, this didn't take them long after Walter leaving they were on the phone within 10 minutes, still everything seem great.
A few days later I got a call from Sue, wanting to book my fitting in, she explained they could do it the following Tuesday, I advised her Walter had told me I could get a weekend fitting, Sue's reply, No no weekends our fitters only work Monday to Friday, ok now I explained it may be difficult to find someone to be home, she then went on to explain that I would need to pay the fitters £85 cash in hand and the rest of my carpet balance by card over the phone, again I explained to Sue that I was advised by Walter I could pay the fitters by card! No was her abrupt reply they get paid in cash, So I advised Sue she would need to call me back in an hours time so that I could see if I was able to sort out someone to be home and the cash payment for the fitters, Sue calls back and I ask her if I'm unable to sort this out what would my options be for a refund, Oh i'm not sure says Sue, I don't know how you would get a refund! WHAT!! this should of been the alarm bells, anyway, after going round in circles I said to Sue just book it in, lets get it done, ok she says, you will get a confirmation call on Monday evening confirming the fitter.Monday came, but no phone call came.So Tuesday morning I called, no answer, I called the office at least 10 times before some actually answered the phone, I explained I had no call and when was the fitter due to arrive, let me put you on hold, the person comes back I didn't get their name, Oh your fitter has just gone home ill, we will have to book you in again, By this time I was not happy, so thinking ok they will book me in for Wednesday, oh how wrong was I, I had to wait till Thursday, so again it was booked in.
Fitting day came.it was a lovely dull dark morning and the rain was pouring.
Fitter arrived, I was at work so my partner who was now visiting from London, (i'm in the North) was home.
There was 2 guys, one younger one older, they start putting in the grippers, then my partner hears the younger guy say about cutting the carpet outside!!! still very heavy raining at this time, so my partner says, you cant cut the carpet outside in this weather, and advised that I would not be happy with wet carpet being laid!! WHO WOULD! Where is the common sense gone?
The younger guy was not happy with this one bit, he stomped off saying to the older guy if things carried on like this he would be going home and doing no more jobs today! spoilt brat springs to mind.
The younger guy came back about 20 minutes later, and my partner explained they could cut the carpet in the kitchen as it was a bigger space and they would have plenty of room to cut the carpet.
the younger guys reply! well if you want to clear up a load of fluff then we will.
My partner told him he would rather clean up fluff then have soaking wet carpet in the house!
I finished work and came home and on first look all was good, but the morning I looked I noticed a few issues. The bottom step was not laid properly, and was quite loose, it had come unstuck from the front of the step as well. the 3rd step had a slight bump in, and just at the top of the stairs the carpet had like a rippled effect. I put it down to it may of been my uneven floorboards. but as the evening went on I seemed to bubble up more.So Friday morning I gave them call, it took many attempts to get through, couldn't leave a message as the mail boxes are constantly full. Eventually the lovely Sue answered. I explained my issue and said could the fitter return today to sort it, Abruptly No chance, after a back and forth conversation I tired of it and backed down, she booked me in for the following Wednesday with the same fitter which I explained I didn't want, but she said he would have to rectify any issues.3 guys arrive not the same fitter, and put the issues right, they even took photos as the 1st fitter said he doesn't get call backs as his work is 100%, what a joke!Sue called asking if I was happy, I ask if she would call the next day, Not happened, also No clean up policy !

Think twice before booking!

My wife took a day off work to be in for the fitters. They rang that morning to say they'd arrive around 4pm, no problem. 4pm came and went. They finally turned up at 8pm.

We had the entrance, stairs, landing and two connected rooms to be fitted. They did the stairs and landing, then found the carpets for the rooms were cut too small and stopped there. The fitters tried to call the office to report it, but at that hour nobody answered. Up to this point I had no real complaint, mistakes happen.

What happened next is why I'm writing this. With the two largest rooms and the entrance still bare which is well over half the job outstanding, we were asked to hand over half the fitting fee. I asked if we could settle up once the work was finished. I was told no, the money had to be taken that day, that the fitters are self-employed, and that if we paid nothing, Dale would be telling them to rip up the carpet already laid on the stairs and landing. We paid £70 of the £209 fitting fee to avoid that. Because they were coming and going, this conversation was captured on the doorbell cam and they left at 10pm.

After they left we found our bathroom door no longer closes without some effort.

The next day we rang and rang. Before you buy from this company, try it yourself: call the number, pick any option, and see how far you get. Mostly you'll hear that the mailbox of the person you're calling is full.

When I eventually reached Amanda, I was told we'd be booked back in but with a wait of just over a week. So we're without our two main rooms for another week and my wife loses a second day's pay, all to fix a mistake that wasn't ours.

To summarise:

- Two full days of lost work so far
- A threat to rip up already-fitted carpet if we didn't pay on the night, with most of the job undone.
- Over a week without our living space while they correct their own error.
- A phone system that makes it near-impossible to chase any of it.
- You'll also note that they have no reviews visible on Facebook - there is a reason they hide these.

I've been told a manager will call me back and will remove/update the review if this is resolved.

Ordered a water proof laminated

Ordered a water proof laminated.
The girl said yes we do.
A man came to measure up and payed £350.
I rang latter for confirmation that is was water proof, the answer we will get back to you.
Four day's later they replied with its as good as water proof.
I asked for my deposit back.
They replied we won't.
This company never gave any paper work to confirm.
The man rang later and said we will give you water proof.
Then another phone call telling me to take the toilet out.
Any competent skilled person can fit water proof laminated without talking the toilet out.
I recommend taking anything like this to your bank.
Read trust pilot and see all the complaints about crazy carpets, you will have second thoughts.
Avoid at all costs.

Poor customer service

Poor customer service, changed price of the job after a 25% deposit had been paid. Original quote was £1250, they then changed price to £1750. Refused to answer phone and did not return calls when they said they would also manager called John was rude and aggressive. Avoid purchasing anything from these cowboys.

Wouldn’t even rate 1 star!!

Wouldn’t even rate 1 star!!! After moving into a new house with less than a month before I was due to give birth we arranged this company to come measure and quote. A man came out and measured and told us a quote of 1250 and we then later agreed to this and arranged for the fitting take place the following week. We were told we needed to pay a deposit of 25%. We paid a deposit of £310. We then contacted crazy price carpets to confirm the fitting date etc but being told on the phone when we did so that we had be quoted the wrong price. The new price was 1750 when we disagreed with this and explained to the lady on the phone she said she would speak with her management and call us back . She never called us back so after multiple times of trying to get through we couldn’t . The following morning we got a call from the lady who then told us that the person who did our quote has calculated wrong and she was going to speak to her management about the quote we were given and we were told we needed to wait for a call back from John the manager. We later got a call back from John who told us 1250 was wrong and so was the new quote of 1750. According to John the actual amount should be 1477. We were going round in circles and so my mother in law called John to speak to him and he was disgustingly rude to her saying “ I can’t believe your son is getting you to ring us”. Very unprofessional and unpleasant. We asked for our £310 deposit back and have been told we will get it back by Monday because we supposedly missed the 3pm deadline.

Administrative issues and poor communication!

Started off well, with responsive office staff and a prompt quote and measuring service, but things went downhill after that. My fitting date was cancelled multiple times for various reasons: warehouse issues, availability problems, and even being told the carpet hadn’t been ordered. This made the whole process frustrating and unreliable.

When the fitting finally went ahead, the fitters did a good job despite apparently not being given important information about the property, including stairs and trims. Their work is the main reason I’m giving 3 stars.

I had planned to use this company for additional carpets and recommend them to other residents in my building, but after this experience I won’t be doing either. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t use them again.

Absolutley shocking service

Absolutley shocking service the website misells as thry say they have dedicated fitting team whjch is a lie as except no responsability for the fitters. When you to complain as their stole out of my house as well not actually fitting the carpet they just glued it. The fitter where and slagging me off as i dared to to complain about their work and the conplaints manager response was prove it as they believe everyone cameras in bedrooms now as a single living on my own not acceptable. I got an independent fitter who informed he can do so much to strech as they glued to the underlay and their managers response was well we sent perfectly good condition not our problem so i have to start from stratch if laid properly wrecked to the bedroom carpets

Worst customer service I've ever experienced

This company sells carpets at a good price but their fitting is poor, and the customer service is some of the worst I've ever experienced.

The first sign that something was seriously wrong was when they arranged a fitting and then cancelled it the day before it was due, as the carpets we ordered had been sold to another customer.

Two weeks went by while we waited for the fitting to take place and unfortunately it was not worth the wait.

The fitters were only interested in fitting as fast as possible so they could get to another job. They claimed they couldn't fit the door bars for our carpets as "they had no screws on the van" but this didn't stop them racing off to another job that must have needed them.

We asked another fitter to complete what they had left undone, he told us that the door bars they had left (and cut very roughly to size with zero care for finding a straight angle) were the wrong kind. This is when Crazy Price Carpets showed their appalling levels of customer service.

We called to ask when the fitting would be completed, they fixed a date which went by with no visit. Then the fitters did arrive, but with no new door bars and they claimed they knew nothing about the problem. The fitters then told us that they had cut our £32 a square metre carpet in such a rough and careless fashion that no decent door bars would ever fit, and we would need to source some bespoke larger door bars ourselves as "they don't keep these at the warehouse".

We then entered a period of calling Crazy Price Carpets, being ignored, being told that we would receive calls back that never came, that no one could help us, that management were too busy to resolve this. Essentially they do not care at all what the customer experience is once they have your money, you will get nothing from them.

As it stands they are still ignoring messages, failing to call back at the times they arranged to and it seems like they're just hoping we go away as it's all too troublesome for them to provide anything like customer service. The people who do occasionally answer the phone are just outright lying about what action is being taken. In the meantime I'm arranging to have the fitting completed myself, but nothing will change the damage that has been done to more than two and a half thousand pounds worth of carpet by the carelessness of their fitters.

Awful experience, awful company, don't be fooled by the potential savings as the time we've lost and the stress is worth much more, just go to Franks - I wish we had.

Company is excellent

Company is excellent. The person who came out to measure & show me the samples was on time, pleasure to speak to & not all pushy. Explained everything including moving out all furniture. I explained about the bed he said that would not be a problem. Carpet fitter again was excellent, polite & even helped me move a dressing table back into the room.

Improvements needed

I recently had my stairs, landing and bedroom carpets fitted and I can’t complain with the finished result considering the cost. I paid £624 for all three areas and the carpet I chose is so soft and brightens the place up so much! The carpet fitter was lovely on the phone, unfortunately I didn’t meet him as I had a family member wait in but he had no complaints and I am very happy with the finished result.

A few things I do think that needs improvement is the communication because I was not happy with the way things were handled. I booked my fitting on a day I knew I would be home following a hospital procedure the day before and luckily I contacted the company to check when I would hear from the fitters for a time of arrival. I was then told they were not scheduled until the following day which was from a ‘technical issue’ with the booking system yet I confirmed the date twice with the lady on the phone. I accepted the offer for the fitters to come the following day and arranged for my grandparents to come over when we had confirmation of a time from the fitters an hour prior to arrival. In the morning I had a phone call from one of the girls in the office stating it would not be completed that day due to the suppliers not delivering my carpet however, I was told the day before it couldn’t be completed regardless because the carpet wasn’t cut?

The lady on the phone then rebooked me for the following Tuesday which caused even more stress as again we had to find someone to be home while we were at work and we would have been sleeping on the floor for nearly a week at this point. The girls on the phone were lovely considering I was very stressed at this point.

The man who came to measure was so lovely and transparent with us about the different carpets and their pricing. I would love to say that I would use this company again when we buy our new home but I would be very hesitant considering the issues I had once I paid a deposit.

Very bad customer service and a sly…

Very bad customer service and a sly sales team — not to be trusted.

I spent £1,400 on flooring and everything seemed fine during the sale process, but after payment the problems started.

1. My fitting was booked in, then rearranged for the following week. I waited in until 1pm and after multiple calls was constantly told someone would contact me. By 5pm, after chasing for the fourth time, I was told the delivery lorry had broken down and my flooring hadn’t arrived. Later, someone else gave a completely different story saying the flooring had been discontinued and I needed to choose another one. Why was I not informed first thing in the morning?
2. Multiple calls and messages were ignored, leaving me with no flooring in my kitchen or passage and an unplugged washing machine.
3. I eventually had to go into the shop in person because I was being ignored. John had the gift of the gab and promised everything would be sorted and fitted the next day.
4. Then I received another phone call from a woman saying it wouldn’t be fitted until the following week.
5. I later checked the square metre pricing and questioned the quote because the price worked out at £42 per square metre, which didn’t seem correct. I was then told I would receive a refund of £170.
6. A week later I was told the refund would only be £120 and that it had already been issued.

It has now been 6 weeks and I still haven’t received the refund, and nobody answers my calls or messages anymore.

Absolutely shocking experience from start to finish. Avoid.
