Thoroughly enjoyed this course

Thoroughly enjoyed this course. Well organised, nice venue with coffee, scrummy biscuits and cakes provided. Richard gave clear instructions and worked at a steady pace, giving extra help where needed and lots of encouragement. Such a great skill to learn. Everyone came away with 2 pieces of willow work to be proud of. I would highly recommend this. Thank you Richard for all your hard work in making this a great day.

I recently attended a pyrography course…

I recently attended a pyrography course led by Kez, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the very beginning, she was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and approachable. It was clear that she not only has a deep understanding of the craft but also a real passion for teaching it.

Kez took the time to guide me through each step, offering support and encouragement whenever I needed it. What really stood out was how much she helped me believe in myself. Before the course, I wasn’t confident in my abilities, but her patience and reassurance made me realise that I can do this—and do it well.

The course itself was fantastic. It gave me the skills and confidence to create artwork that I’m genuinely proud of, and it’s made me fall in love with pyrography even more. I now feel inspired to continue developing my skills and pursue it more seriously, possibly even professionally in the future.

The atmosphere was another highlight. Kez made everyone feel completely at ease, and the sessions were filled with laughter, light-hearted moments, and a real sense of enjoyment. It never felt intimidating—just welcoming and fun.

I would highly recommend this course to anyone, whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to improve your skills. Kez is an amazing teacher, and it’s an experience well worth having.

Sarah Bradley’s silver ring course is…

Sarah Bradley’s silver ring course is super fun and easy going.
You start with a bit of silver and end up with a ring you actually made yourself (very satisfying). Clear, relaxed teaching and a great intro to jewellery making.
Sarah is amazing, very friendly and makes everything feel relaxed and enjoyable. Would recommend to any couples looking to do something a little different together.

Nice experience

We thoroughly enjoyed making baubles with Steve and Angie. Four of us- 2 adults and 2 children took the course. We were made to feel welcome and everything was light hearted and well explained. We got to choose and incorporate 2 different colours in our baubles, heat the glass and blow the air into the baubles. The children were looked after and supported well. We were very pleased with the experience and the 4 lovely baubles that we ended up with. Many thanks!!

Great value

Well organised, updates nearer the time.
A beautiful location and Alison and Liz were friendly, welcoming hosts.
The day surpassed expectations. There was the right balance of info/ techniques and practical. After the initial input, guidance was given on an individual basis based on design and each individual’s needs. Great value for money.

Anvil Forge - highly recommended

Went to Anvil Forge
Like some of the others attending the experience day this was a birthday present and one of the best, what a great day, got to experience using hammers and tongs with red hot metals and and an array of other tools and came away with a poker (everyone does) and I made a metal swallow which I am very pleased with. A real friendly helpful team and I have been singing their praises ever since. Go for it.

"Excellent course from a great…

"Excellent course from a great charismatic teacher.
Each task was clearly outlined with full safety in mind. Then we were able to copy those techniques up to the stage demonstrated. Then the next stage was made clear, and so on. We did four projects to teach basic wood turning skills. I feel, as a total beginner, confident to tackle bowl, vases and other items.
The course was bought for me as a present from my wife, thanks it was brilliant. Fun, satisfying and instructive.
Mick is a great teacher"

Children's whittling

The Children's whittling class by Alan from Alien Spoons is an excellent course. Alan is very skilled, knowledgeable, and goes at the child's pace. He makes sure that the parent understands the different techniques that the child learns in order to supervise for safety after the course, which I found very thoughtful. My 9 year old loved it. I would highly recommend the course.

Great Course Making An Adirondack Chair

Had a really good day working with Andrew on the chair. He was amiable and patient with my list of woodworking skills! There was plenty of opportunity to use the machinery and he kept the hot drinks coming.

I'm happy with the end product, but I still need to paint it. I would definitely recommend this course as you get a finished product to take home, which feels like a real achievement. Due to the nature of the course and the size of the workshop you will probably be the only student there, which means you get one-to-one attention.

The only tip I would give is wear warm clothes as the workshop is understandably cold.

Brilliant course.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable course, which was superbly presented by Andy. He made everything so possible and I was so impressed with the outcome of my Raku pottery and the fact that I came away with three completed pottery projects was unbelievable

This was an amazing day

This was an amazing day; I cant believe what we managed to create in one day. Jo is such a skilled teacher and she gets the balance between helping students and allowing creativity perfectly. The method she uses is one I have never experienced before but it is so effective when created with all the help offered at the course.
The day flew by and I walked away with a beautiful sitting hare for the garden. I have to say this is one of the best workshops I have ever done.

What a fantastic experience

What a fantastic experience! Nadine is a wonderful instructor — warm, encouraging and clearly passionate about her craft. She created a really relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that made the whole process feel accessible whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience. The course struck the perfect balance between guidance and creative freedom, and the finished fused glass pieces we came away with were genuinely stunning. It's incredibly satisfying to make something so beautiful with your own hands. Brilliant value for money too. Highly recommended!

A great day Glass blowing …

Yes we thoroughly enjoyed our course yesterday. Johnathan was so patient and explained well. He had to be patient as I was so fascinated with it all I’d forget what he’d just asked me to do and he was really good and explained again. Nothing was too much trouble. This course was bought for me by my husband for Christmas. He never thought he could make anything like he did yesterday. I know he wasn’t looking forward to the practical side of it because before the course he kept telling me to take my daughter. I wanted him to come and experience it with me. He was so pleased he did! He just kept saying that he never thought he could make something like that and how proud he was that he did. It was my present but he enjoyed it as much as I did. Johnathan made us both welcome and right from the start we felt comfortable and eager to start glass blowing. I would recommend Johnathan to anyone one wanting to try glass blowing. It fascinates me to watch the craft and now we have done it ourselves. Johnathan is sending our art work to us, so now we can’t wait to show it off to family and friends. Thank you for an amazing day!

Two days of wood turning joy

What a brilliant two days. Mick is a great teacher, his workspace is filled with all the best tools he will expertly tell you how to use. The course is perfectly pitched with lots to do at the right pace so you come away with finished products to show off as well as some really great knowledge of wood turning.

I would recommend the course to anyone who is interested in wood crafts either you’re thinking about wood turning as a hobby or just want to do something practical and at the same time create pieces you can be proud of this is the course for you.

The course did what it said on the tin …

The object of the course was to build confidence and it did just that. Friendly, really useful instruction and well paced. Every query was treated helpfully and you were not made to feel silly for asking something basic. Plenty of practical hands on opportunities.
