Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 60 reviews, reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company, frequently praising the staff for their professionalism, helpfulness, and extensive knowledge. Customers consistently highlight the high quality of the work completed, noting that projects are finished to an excellent standard with great attention to detail, leaving properties looking fresh and fantastic. The product itself is often described as outstanding, providing a lovely finish, durability, and insulation benefits, with many people recommending it for its versatility and sustainability. The overall service is also highly regarded, with consumers appreciating the efficiency, clear communication, and the ease of the entire process from start to finish. However, some people were dissatisfied with issues related to overspray onto neighboring properties during application, leading to damage on railings, cars, windows, and plants. These reviewers also noted that attempts by contractors to fix these issues were inadequate, and they felt the company did not take responsibility for problems with their accredited applicators or the product itself when issues arose. Some applicators also expressed concerns about product consistency, color variations, and the company frequently blaming them for issues, making the manufacturer's warranty seem unreliable.

Sound deadened and insulated Mercedes Sprinter - Spot on!

I wanted my Mercedes Sprinter fully sound-deadened and insulated before starting my camper build. With all the curves and structural beams, I knew I needed a continuous seal – no bare metal left exposed where condensation would inevitably be drawn to once we are living in it full time.

I couldn't really find anywhere to get this done, and after trawling the internet - I found CorkSol UK, and Jamie. As a camper enthusiast himself, he completely got what I was aiming for. The product is outstanding, his knowledge is spot on, and the finish is better than I could have imagined. The van is now fully insulated and soundproofed – the perfect base for my build.

Honestly can’t believe how good it looks and the temperature inside is stable - no matter what the weather is outside. Exactly what I wanted. Highly recommend.

A Disappointing and Inconsiderate Experience

Disappointed, damaged, and still cleaning up — CorkSol’s long response doesn’t change the facts

Following CorkSol’s latest response to our original review, we feel it’s important to set the record straight and provide additional context, including excerpts from our email exchange with the company.

This situation began when a CorkSol-accredited applicator sprayed their product on our semi-detached neighbour’s home — and overspray coated our property: black-painted railings, cars, windows, patio, water butts, and plants.
The claim that CorkSol was unaware until the review
“None of this was communicated to us… we were only made aware of this when John’s review appeared.”

False. The contractor was made aware at the time and clearly failed to report it to CorkSol. That is not our responsibility — it’s CorkSol’s job to vet and manage the professionals they train and endorse. Once we became aware of CorkSol’s involvement in accrediting the applicator, we contacted them directly. The review was a last resort after our concerns were not taken seriously.

CorkSol distances themselves from liability
“John contacted us requesting that we pay him compensation for damage we had not caused.”

CorkSol’s position is that because the applicator is an independent contractor — despite being trained, accredited, and recommended by CorkSol — they have zero responsibility. This is troubling for any potential customer. If CorkSol is happy to promote applicators under their name, it’s reasonable to expect accountability when things go wrong. If there’s no oversight or recourse, what is the value of the “accreditation” they so proudly reference?

In law, CorkSol may not be liable for the actions of their applicators. But they are surely responsible for the product itself. Despite power-washing, we still cannot remove the render from our patio.
Regardless of who applied it, if CorkSol’s product cannot be removed without specialist intervention or surface damage, we will be seriously considering legal advice about the product itself.

Misleading characterisation of the review
“John had tried to implicate us, which was blatantly untrue.”
“We did not express more concern over our online image than making things right.”

Actually, our review explicitly stated that the work was carried out by an accredited applicator — and that CorkSol was not the contractor. We did, however, hold CorkSol accountable for its role in endorsing that individual. The review was fair, truthful, and written in good faith. Trustpilot agreed and allowed it to remain.

As for prioritising image? In their very first emailed reply, CorkSol stated:

“I maintain that your Trust Pilot review is unfair and, I am advised, is defamatory.”

They also said: “I have reported the matter to Trust Pilot, but would like to afford you the opportunity of amending your review…”

To us, this absolutely felt like an attempt to silence or intimidate. That was the moment CorkSol could have shown integrity and concern — instead, they focused on damage control.

Inadequate cleaning advice
After repeated requests, we were eventually told:

“With respect to your railings I would expect that a fine sandpaper would remove the cork, which is after all wood.”

This was astonishing. SprayCork is a resin-bound composite that bonds to surfaces — and they suggest sandpapering painted metal railings, as though it’s raw cork or timber? We had already been advised by professionals that sanding would damage the finish and wasn’t safe.

As I said to CorkSol by email in reply to this suggestion:
“We understand that SprayCork contains natural cork, but it is clearly a resin-bound composite, designed to strongly adhere to surfaces and withstand the elements. Once applied and cured, it is not simply “wood” — and attempting to sand it off our painted metalwork risks damaging the surface further. We have already consulted the professional who originally installed the railings, and they were clear: the railings now need to be stripped and dipped. Sandpaper is not an appropriate or safe solution.”

The impact on us
This ordeal has taken time, money, and emotional energy. It has also placed unnecessary strain on our relationship with our neighbours, who were mortified by what happened. Our property is still marked with CorkSol product, and we remain without a proper remedy.

Final thoughts.
What we’ve experienced is a company unwilling to take ownership of the broader ecosystem they promote

If you’re considering using CorkSol or one of their accredited applicators, especially near a neighbouring property, think very carefully. If anything goes wrong, you may be left in the same situation we are — cleaning it up alone, and with no meaningful support.

Reply from CorkSol UK

Further to my initial reply below we at CorkSol would like to further clarify some issues regarding this unfortunate incident.

Since 2017 we have run an accreditation scheme for applicators. This is to educate them in the product we supply, its application and it properties. Each of the 350+ companies who have been through this process are an independent company to CorkSol UK. The process aims to ensure that the applicators are competent in the application of CorkSol SprayCork. We are then happy to recommend these companies to potential customers.

In this instance John's neighbour engaged with an indepndent application company to apply CorkSol SprayCork to their property. As far as we are aware this property has been sprayed to the satisfaction of the client. During the application cork was blown over John's property, which we find to be unacceptable. It is the responsibility of the applicator to protect all areas which are not to be sprayed, and they are informed of this during their training. From speaking to the applicator I was informed that he made attempts to clean this at the time, albeit unsuccessfully. None of this was communicated to us and we were only made aware of this when John's review appeared. Neither John nor his neighbour contacted us directly about this incident until the Trustpilot review. Therefore we were not afforded the opportunity to attempt to rectify the situation.

Now, the nature of the review was very much designed to suggest that CorkSol UK had applied the material and caused the damage. We had not. It suggested that we took no responsibility for the damage we had caused. As we hadn't caused it, we could not.

John contacted us requesting that we pay him compensation for the damage we had not caused. Clearly this is not our responsibility and the matter needed to be taken up with the applicator involved. There is a clear legal stand point here.

John refers to us asking him to amend or remove the review. We absolutely did do this. I would have no issue with a review appearing on Trustpilot detailing his experiences with the applicator, even referring to the fact that our material was the material used. However, John had tried to implicate us, which was blatantly untrue. We even contacted Trust Pilot to highlight that this review was untrue. They have told us that "Trustpilot is an open, public platform where consumers are free to share their genuine experiences". John has now updated his review clearly stating that it was a completely different company who had caused this damage. We believe that review platforms are an essential way for potential customers to research products and companies. Unfortunately it is now evident that this platform values the number of reviews over the integrity of them.

In summary: We are deeply upset that John's property has been damaged by the actions of an applicator using our material.
Legally, we simply cannot accept responsibility for the actions of an independent company.
We agree with John that this needs rectifying, but we maintain that this must be arranged through his neighbour and the applicator involved. We have expressed this to the applicator involved.
We cannot be, and are not, responsible for the actions of the independent applicator. We can train them in the application of the product, promote best practice and expect them to offer excellent customer service.
We did not express more concern over our online image than making things right. We merely requested that fact was reported.

We have tried to deal with this in the correct manner but have been faced with having to deal with it on this platform.
Of course if you are considering using our material, think carefully, as you would with any product. All we ask is that you look at the facts and speak to us or any of our independent applicators to address your concerns.

Corksol for rear of house & downstairs bathroom exteriors

We looked into Corksol for the back of our house as our existing paint was flaking off and the downstairs bathroom gets very cold in winter. When we emailed we were given the details of Jack from J1 Plastering who is one of their approved applicators and other useful info about the product. Jack was really friendly and very knowledgeable about the corksol product. He completed the work quickly and we're very happy with the quality of finish. We chose the cotton colour which complements the white window frames nicely and he even resprayed our downpipes and painted the window sills for us so the overall look was smart.

As the cork is sprayed on there are naturally areas where the surface was uneven before that it smooths a little but doesn't fully make flat, but with any house there are always imperfections up close and the overall look when you step back is great. Jack had already set our expectations of this so I wasn't surprised at the odd bit here or there. It does get everywhere, but he masked up all the windows etc and came back to clean off the odd bit that snuck round the masking. Great job and service, would highly recommend.

Bungalow exterior walls coated with CorkSol

We used Roofx, in Eastbourne, to spray-coat the external walls of our bungalow with CorkSol, after replacing/repairing damaged areas of cement render, as an alternative to re-painting every few years. From the initial site visit through to the finished job, Peter, Leo and the team were polite, professional and helpful. The work was completed to a high standard and the site was cleaned up thoroughly. It is too soon to say if the insulation claims are true but the appearance of the bungalow is greatly improved, so worth doing for that alone. We are very pleased with the finished product.

Transformed the looks of our house

We moved into our house in December and noticed how quickly it cooled after the heating was turned off. The loft wasn't well insulated so I upgraded the insulation and there was a slight improvement. The house walls are 9 inch, with no cavity so I investigated what would be the best solution for external wall insulation and came across Corksol, which looks like the ideal solution. I contacted Corksol to find installers in my area and had several quotes. M-G-RHODES Renovations quoted to render over the painted bricks and then apply the Corksol, which meant a lovely smooth finish with no mortar joints or Spalding brick faces.
We're really happy with the work Mark did, he and his team were really informative and I felt confident they were doing the job properly.
The finish looks really good and we've had a lot of good comments from people passing by.
So really happy how it looks, but we'll have to wait until colder weather to see what the thermal benefits are.

Great product and installers

We have recently had the front wall of our terraced house sprayed with Corksol in heather and the result is excellent. The work was done by P.Taylor & Sons of Swindon, Manchester and they were brilliant. They also did the back wall for us two years ago in white, so I was expecting no less. The product, Corksol, is excellent and provides a lovely finish as well as benefits in terms of durability and insulation. Very happy.

Shaun from Evolve coatings 5⭐️!

Shaun from Evolve coatings, based in Norfolk, was just excellent. He talked me through the whole job, explained the options clearly and was super efficient. He had his son and mate along to help with the job, all of them were perfect representatives. The CorkSol coating itself was put on very neatly, crisp edges and lovely bright finish in the ivory colour. I am delighted with the result. So good that friends who have visited are getting their own place done. I recommend the CorkSol product and Shaun as a tradesman if you’re in Norfolk or Suffolk.

As an X Approved Aplicator of Corksol…

As an X Approved Aplicator of Corksol with over 60 jobs done successfully with their product with few issues over a 5-6 year period
This review I have written about 20 times in the years I have been dealing with them but as things are so difficult in the building industry I never posted it
Untill now !!!
I would also like to apologise to the existing trades people still using their product without issue up untill there’s a problem
Prep work is extensive from pressure washing jobs to sanding back all loose and dodgy patches prior to applying a Corksol render as an applicator we do all we can to ensure there are no issues with the finished job/contract every job is prepped the same regardless
No sub contractor wants issues after the job has been completed but there has always been issues from colour variations to product consistency
Corksol was always notified, as soon as a problem arises we are instructed to take photos of buckets and bottles of colours and issuing bucket serial numbers only to hear its applicator error don’t get me wrong I think the product is good but there are issues that Corksol always put back to the applicator
From an applicator point of view you leave the job looking perfect after a number of weeks the scaffolding comes down then sometimes there’s issues with patchiness, debonding on some not all , after a period of time and the applicator has to issue photos ,videos and everything in between then we are told it’s ok or it just needs a quick tickle over the top a bit late when scaffolding has been removed and site is clean and the applicator is liable they always blame the applicator period !
If they do eventually fess up and admit there’s a problem with the product they issue material free and it’s up to the customer to try get the approved applicator to come back and sort the job out the job at their own expense
I have personally put 3 jobs right with a cost personally to my company in excess of £40000 this can’t be absorbed as a loss with any company most of us are sole traders or small Ltd companies and Corksol are not interested they will probably contest everything I say but there are hundreds of tradesmen out there that have used their products done everything in their ability to do the job correctly and it’s gone wrong the manufacturers warranty isn’t worth the paper it’s written on Corksol always blame the applicator they are just not interested then it’s up to the applicator to try sort out the problems at their own expense which is massively expensive for any tradesman/company
I have been a plastering contractor in excess of 40 years and have an excellent reputation in my area with no issues with any products but since using Corksol products I have upset so many people in a short period of time since using this product
As I said the product is good sometimes but not always I will probably take a lot of flak for this personally and Corksol will say it’s sour grapes as they just removed me from their contractor list as I replicated a Corksol product with another manufacturer I did this as I had no faith in Corksol
I haven’t dealt with Corksol for the past six months but been using cork consistently from another company
I have had an issue with this other cork product due to staining but I will sort this out .
This is just an honest view of the product and the company from my perspective after dealing with them for the past 5 to 6 years
So in short product is sometimes ok
Corksol as a company Be careful wouldn’t trust em as far as. I could throw them

Thank you for your review. Given the number of issues raised, I would like to respond clearly and directly.

You joined the CorkSol Approved Applicator Network in 2018. We have always valued strong relationships with our applicators, especially those who have worked with us for several years. You mention completing over 60 SprayCork jobs, which we acknowledge and appreciate. However, you also state that you have written a version of this review 20 times during that time. That suggests long-standing dissatisfaction. It is therefore reasonable to ask why you continued working with a product and company you felt so negatively about.

Regarding preparation, applicators in our network are trained to apply SprayCork to clean, dry and sound surfaces. With over 40 years of experience, we would expect you to follow this guidance. You mention sanding back loose patches, which is precisely what is required. That is not excessive. It is essential for product performance.

You describe issues with patchiness and debonding. Patchiness is typically caused by inconsistent application thickness, particularly between scaffold lifts, and is not a fault of the product. Skilled applicators can achieve a consistent finish using the correct method. In terms of debonding, we have never seen SprayCork fail to adhere when it has been applied to a suitable and properly prepared surface. What is often described as debonding turns out to be the failure of the substrate or paint layer beneath the coating. That again points to preparation.

You suggest that we always blame the applicator. That is not the case. Even without evidence of a product issue, we have provided free material or technical support. This is not something we are required to do under warranty. We do it to assist in resolving the issue where possible. However, we cannot accept liability for problems caused by insufficient preparation or incorrect use.

You also claim we were not interested in helping you. That is not consistent with our experience. On one occasion, a member of our team travelled more than six hours to support a complaint raised by one of your customers. You acknowledged that the visit helped buy you time. We also attended other sites where issues were ultimately due to under-application, which you accepted. We have always tried to support you where we reasonably could.

You also claim that hundreds of other tradespeople have had similar experiences. Our network includes around 400 Approved Applicators. The vast majority work successfully with SprayCork and maintain a good working relationship with us. If you are aware of specific individuals with the same concerns, we would be open to hearing from them. Vague claims are not helpful.

The key issue is your removal from the Approved Applicator Network. A customer contacted you specifically for SprayCork. You presented them with our colour samples. When the job was completed and the customer questioned the result, it became clear that a different cork-based product had been used. This was not speculation. It was confirmed. Representing another product as SprayCork is a serious breach of trust. It is the reason you were removed from our network.

We invest heavily in training, marketing and lead generation for SprayCork. In return, we expect professionalism and transparency from our applicators. Where this breaks down, we must act to protect our brand, our clients and the rest of our network.

You are of course free to work with any product you choose. You even stated in your review that SprayCork is good. That makes it more surprising that you applied a different product under our name. We cannot ignore that, and we would take the same decision again.

We thank you for your work between 2018 and 2024 and we wish you well in your future projects. We stand by our product, our values and our decision.
