Horrendous standards of Practice …
If I could start by saying the only star I am giving here is for Maxine and the staff, they are the only ones deserving of a star . Keith, the vet deserves Zilch. His standard of practice from our experience is extremely concerning, abusive and has resulted in heartbreak. I should have trusted my gut instinct at his whole rude demeanour.
Our Beautiful gentle almost 10 years old Bulldog was under Keith's Care, only Keith Did Not care, he has treated him and us with such disregard and has categorically repeatedly told us that Our Boy was “ too fat” “ hes too fat, get the weight off him , the weights killing him , half his food, half it again “ He was diagnosed by keith with a chest infection and tonsilitis , meds seemed to help but we were still very worried about his laboured breathing , We asked him on next visit about 3-4 weeks later when we insisted his breathing still was laboured and asked Keith to do tests on him , we said he needs an MOT . Keith said arrogantly and rudely “why ? he doesnt need it ,HES NOT ILL “ he said he no longer had any infection , he went on to say half his food again. He roughly grabbed my gentle boy yanking his head round when he was clearly struggling, during him examining him.His rough cruel handling is completely unacceptable. He sent us home with tablets to help his breathing, stating he may need to stay on them. The tablets helped somewhat but breathing still was not normal , I rang copper beech last thursday and asked the staff to ask keith did he need to see him as still panting and advised them what keith had said on prev visit that he may need to stay on prescribed breathing meds so please ask keith for advice..
Maxine called me back and said she would send meds out and took my bank details. That evening my fur baby worsened and his gums went white ,he flopped down on his side, we were terrified and rushed him to the emergency vets who were compassionate, empathic and caring and they done extensive tests and told us he had tumours that had spread to his lung area and he was very distressed , My boy hadn't stood a chance at the hands of Keith. He had a dignified last couple of hours at this amazing emergency vets in liverpool with his whole family around him. I contacted maxine in copper beech the next morning to ask her heartbreakingly to stop the meds coming as our boy had heartbeakingly passed away . I asked her to ask keith why he had treated our boy with such neglect , disregard and ignored our requests to check him over with tests. I told her I wanted to speak to Keith. Maxine called me back later in day and said how sorry they both were and that they had “ missed the cancer “ By that time they had had the records from prev evening from emerg vets and Maxine kept saying all they can do is applogise. Keith did not have the human decency, regard or compassion to come to the phone himself. He is abusive and a bully and thinks he knows it all. He clearly knows nothing, He has always talked to us rudely and bluntly which Ive never liked or appreciated. My Husband used to say thats just his way. but in my opinion Thats how he gets away with it , it doesn't make it ok . Our boy was struggling and distressed for the last month of his Life because Keith said “ HES NOT ILL , HES TOO FAT “ Those words keep ringing in my ears . They are tormenting me as keith basically advised us to starve him when he should have been eating in luxury. We are traumatised and heartbroken . If this post prevents one more animal / Family from being treated with such disregard and suffering then its been worth it. Copper beech charge slightly less than other vets locally but the saying goes , you only get what you pay for. Please consider this as we are in absolute hell right now and our boy has suffered at the hands of the very person we paid to care for him. In my opinion this is neglect and Abuse !!!
