Convert My Conservatory - deposit theft

Just to confirm - regardless of them changing their company name on here - this is Convert My Conservatory.

They came to our home, quoted us the work, put together some great designs, outlined some acceptable timelines and generally, Simon and John were great to deal with. Until we paid the deposit and after repeatedly telling us there were delays because of the door, they've gone quiet on all channels. Our bank have confirmed they can't recover the sizeable deposit because they have already moved the money on.

Avoid at all costs.

Stay Clear

Stay Clear - Cowboys!

Convert my Conservatory claim to have a business in the South of Ireland as well as the North, however it seems that all business is done from their Northern Ireland address and bank account.

From other reviews it looks like they have messed customers in North, South, England and Jersey.

Having paid a deposit with Convert my Conservatory and attempted contact by phone, mobile and email a month after deposit was paid, I was getting no response.

Having then read all the negative reviews and comments I decided to pull the plug on any work being done in my house due to no communication and the lack of professionalism.

This company then threatened me with legal action requesting the full amount of money as they had ordered bespoke parts and the roof was "already made" to be delivered to my address.

I informed them I had consumer rights to cancel and they would not be setting foot on my property. I queried my consumer rights with the Irish and European consumer protection bodies.

More so Convert my Conservatory claim all their negative reviews were instigated by a rival company trying to scar their company and they dont have a trustpilot account. Go figure!

They claimed their contractual terms of requesting full amount if I canceled, without any work even starting.

What they forget to realise is their docket states "Full amount on completion"

They still have over €2000 of a deposit for doing no work and to be honest, I wouldnt want the cowboys near my premises.

Stay well clear!

Awful experience. Placed deposit in April 2023 and still awaiting any work to begin. Sounds like it is a good job they didn't start as reading other reviews, their workmanship is poor! No answers or replies on phone and taken so long to move along. Now feel like the deposit has gone as the works will never happen and need to start again after wasting a year and our money! If you have any sense, stay away from this company.

Steer clear - cowboys!

Within two years all of the supposed maintenance free composite is warping - they blocked me on social media and told me it's just cosmetic. Also said they dont have time to fix as they've so much work on in Jersey - didn't give me the guarantee or any receipts and even suggested if I got it fixed myself, my guarantee would be void. Add this to bouncy floors, windows that don't open - avoid avoid avoid!

ConvertMyConservatory - stay away from them!!

At the time that the work was done I couldn't fault the speed and how well the work was carried out. However within 9 months of installation one of the panes of glass fogged up and was obviously faulty. On reporting it they came out after a few prompts to replace. In April, two years after installation, a second pane of glass has fogged up and I contacted them at the start of April to have someone come out and measure it up to also be replaced. Needless to say I'm still waiting, the are ignoring my calls and messages. I have now had to contact the Consumerline in NI for help as the product is faulty and still under guarantee. My advice is to stay away from this company they take your money and the after sales service is atrocious!!!

Diabolical

Not surprised there are other complaints pertaining to this company.
Complete cowboys is all I can say.
Keep your money safely away from these.
No response by telephone. As calls directed through a mobile and numbers either blocked/screened.

Unprofessional and Unattainable Thieves

Unprofessional, company.
You will never get a response by telephone once you have been over charged for works done.
No respect for the elderly or their needs.
A completely stressful experience dealing with this "company" and trying to get a return of an over charge taken, impossible.

Avoid at all costs

I got a conservatory roof conversion with Convert My Conservatory (CMC) with the work completed in November 22 and full payment made on 28th November 2022. The cost was £5200 It took them almost a year to get building control although this was promised in the contract. Around April 2023 the roof started to bubble (externally.) I was told that this is normal and not to worry as everything was covered by the 10-year guarantee and if there were any problems they would fix immediately.
On 28/29th December 2023 the roof leaked with damp spots appearing on the ceiling. On 04/01/2024 I rang and reported the fault. I was told that this would be reported to the maintenance team and someone would ring me. No one contacted me.
I made further calls on 10/01/24, 23/01/24, 26/01/24, 05/02/24 and 07/02/24. On each occasion I was told the same thing - someone would ring me back. No one did. I asked to speak to someone from the maintenance team but was told that wasn’t possible. I asked to speak to a manager but again was told that wasn’t possible and that he (the guy in the office) was not authorised to give out anyone else’s telephone numbers.
On my last call on 07/02/24 the guy in the office suggested that I send him an e-mail and he would forward this on. I sent the email on 11/02/24 and got confirmation that he had forwarded it on 12/02/24. Again I had no contact from CMC. My roof continued to leak.
I contacted the man who had initially sold me the conversion and he told me that he no longer worked for CMC but refused to give me the names or contacts of anyone in the company. To say he was unhelpful would be a gross understatement.
I then contacted Trading Standards. They have registered my complaint and gave me legal advice that I have followed, so far with no result. They normally do not take enforcement action based on a single complaint, however they said that may take further action if subsequent complaints are made. If you have had issues with this company you may wish to contact Trading Standards. Their email address is: consumerline at economy-ni.gov.uk
The reference number for my complaint is: C/371225. The company name is Convert My Conservatory and the company director is David Gregge.
I have also contacted the On Your Behalf team at Radio Ulster and am due to speak to a researcher for that program next week. If anyone else has had issues they may also consider contacting the program. (Details on the Radio Ulster website.)
I have now got other roofers to estimate the repairs required for my roof. All have said that the work was so bad that they will, more or less, have to replace the entire roof. Estimates for the repair are coming in around £4-5000.

Horrendous experience

Avoid this company at all cost!! We had to spend a further 15k to replace what they had fitted on the original installation. Shocking workmanship, hastily finished and disappeared as soon as they received a payment. We had water leaks in a brand new roof from day 1, roof covering did not last 6 months before becoming unbonded(so much for your 10 year guarantee), no facias or gutters fitted even though this was part of the agreed quote, poorly finished leadwork leading to more leaks, new Roof Lantern fitted will a 4 inch gap all the way around mean wind and rain came in. Glass smashed on installation not never replaced. Zero communication and refusal to return messages left with office staff. Thanks to this company, our savings are gone.

Would not recommend this company at…

Would not recommend this company at all. Business and professional ethics are in the toilet. Shoddy workmanship, lack of communication, substandard finish to the garden room they took almost 3 months to build for me.
Left with gaps in window seals, bouncy cheap floor, no hot water from an electric shower they installed which is constantly in the 'on' position without an isolator switch.
Dreadful communication from day 1, not turning up to work and ignoring my messages. I have been very patient with this company and never leave negative reviews but being ignored and dismissed now when asking for the issues to be resolved. Not good. Steer clear, don't spend your hard earned cash here. Complete disrespect.

I highly recommend Convert my Conservatory. Very professional from start to finish, excellent communication throughout and the guys were polite, punctual, hard working and cleaned up after themselves. Very pleased with the work done. Thank you.

Great Job

Had our glass roof on our conservatory replaced with tiles last month. The guys done a great job and tidy too was no mess like what you would expect from work carried out in your home. Can feel the difference now, house is so much easier to heat and holds the heat for longer.
