Worst moving company ever, I don't normally post reviews but I'm trying to warn people. First they low-balled the estimate. They will tell you anything to get the contract and once they do, that's when the screwing starts. I made it clear to Colonial that I was pressed for time and asked if they could meet a specific date for pickup, they assured me they could. Turns out they were a day late, screwed up all my plans and all they offer you in compensation is $30, that's right they miss a deadline they give you $30, that's all a whole day of your time is worth to Colonial. However I was told by one of their employees that if you miss a date, it's $600 a day. To be fair, they did offer me a whole $100 for completely screwing up my plans. Next, when the truck did arrive it was half full already, they crammed my stuff in and had to strap some of my goods to the back of the truck. Next, if you go over the estimated weight, you pay, and you pay big, cost me thousands. They are a moving and storage company and boy do they charge you for storage, cost me thousands. And you can NEVER nail anyone down on additional cost beforehand. Customer service is horrible, your account "managers" don't answer their phones, don't return calls, and don't respond to e-mails. The only thing they are good at is billing, and taking your money. Now to delivery, they had to delivery my stuff in three separate trips because once again, the driver ALREADY had a full load on his big rig and had to rent a U-HAUL to deliver my goods. And after being in storge for a few weeks a HUGE portion of my goods are missing, thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars worth of stuff. Someone from Colonial is supposed to call me tomorrow and I will be stunned, first, if I actually get a call, and second if this gets resolved in an equitable manner. When I moved cross country six years ago I did it with PODS and everything was perfect, they were on time you know the cost upfront, and storage prices are not ridiculous. And when the PODS were delivered, EVERYTHING I put in them was still there. I went with a moving company this this time because I did not want to have to do all the loading. In hindsight it would have been better to use PODS and pay someone to do the loading. Well, this was a long rant, be forewarned, DO NOT USE COLONIAL, I made the mistake so you don't have to!

If you are looking for a company to cause you more stress than you have found the right place. I was moving an elderly loved one. The inventory was not done properly and in fact did not show up until after the move. They were supposed to deliver at one day 8am to 12pm. They never showed and rescheduled after the fact. It was the most stressful move I have ever been part of... if this is what you want in a moving company than you have found the right company. I would never use them again.

The movers came a day late but once there the whole move was awesome, I am very statisfied but only 4 stars because of the timing was much more stressful due to the delay. In the end they were excellent!!!

They were professional with the packing, loading and handling of our belongings. We received updates before, during and after our move. Delivery was efficient and made very good progress placing furniture with care. We were exceptionally pleased with every aspect of our move.

When the movers arrived to load up there were only 2 men to load my mother's house. Much of the time one of the men spent with his face in the clipboard looking at paperwork while he had the other man loading much of it by himself. Should they have sent at least 2 other men over and focused on getthing things loaded it could have easily taken 2 hours instead of 8 hours. Then on arrival, more than half of her boxes were literally crushed with items hanging out, and several significant, sentimental items of value either broken or missing.

Both packers and delivery men were very professional and considerate. Everything was packed expertly and arrived very quickly. Everything was accounted for! We would move again with Colonial!!
Thank you so much!

The packing and unpacking teams were fabulous! Communication with despatch/corporate was a bit difficult….different information daily, and sometimes the same day. Their estimate was exact! Paid no extra fees. Pleased.

Terrible Terrible. Find another van line.
They book the service with you; take your down payment, but then give excuses for all of the delays and reasons why they can’t meet the time commitments. Customer service doesn’t exist- just excuses.

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. Currently 3.5 weeks with our stuff MIA!!!!
We hired Colonial nearly 7 months prior to our move from CA to TX. We were advised of a 2-day pickup window (8/29 or 8/30) and a delivery window of 9/2 - 9/12. On the day of pickup (8/29), a rental truck with a paper sign taped on the side saying Posh Moving Company showed up. Yep, it turns out that buried in the fine print, Colonial reserves the right to have someone else handle the move.
After our items were loaded into the truck by Posh, they told us that the truck would be driven to Vegas the next day (8/30) before heading on its way to Texas. A few days later, we were advised by Colonial that delivery was expected on 9/7. Great?
Not so.
On 9/4, Colonial said there were mechanical issues with the truck and we would get an updated delivery date. On 9/8, Colonial said that the real issue was that our stuff didn’t fit on the intended truck - so it was still sitting in Vegas. But, Colonial assured us, a new truck and driver had been identified and would complete the move and a new delivery date would be given. On 9/9, Colonial told us delivery would be on 9/14 or 9/15. Then, surprise-surprise, on 9/12 Colonial told us that the driver and truck never left Vegas and they would advise of a new delivery window. Shortly thereafter, they advised that the driver would leave on 9/14 with delivery by 9/17. Then on 9/15, the driver supposedly had mechanical issues and was back in Vegas with our stuff. Then, the driver was supposed to “initiate” delivery on 9/20, which we learned was double-speak for “leave Vegas.” On 9/22, we were “personally” assured that delivery would be on 9/24 between 9am and 11am. Lo and behold, 5 minutes before the customer service office closed on 9/23, we got a voicemail saying (surprise!) our stuff would NOT be delivered on 9/24, that the truck had mechanical issues requiring the driver to”to return” (I can only assume to Vegas, the Colonial rep didn’t say), and that we would get a new delivery window at some point.
Throughout, Colonial has never, not once, and despite repeated inquiries, informed us of how our stuff has been stored. We can only assume it’s dumped in some Vegas parking lot, or some hot-box of a storage container, getting absolutely roasted in 100-plus degree heat.
As I write this on 9/23, we have been sitting in Texas in an empty house for nearly 4 weeks STILL without our items. The “updates” we have received from Colonial since our items were driven off by Posh on 8/29 have been pathetic. It seems like gaslighting. The updates have ranged from truck mechanical issues, to no available drivers, to our items not fitting on supposed trucks.
After escalating our disappointment and frustration over the past few weeks, we have been offered a measley $50/day our items have been delayed. We’re supposed to be thankful that this is more than the $30/day listed in the contract. But that number is for delays that occurred even if Colonial executes the contract, including by executing the move with “reasonable dispatch.” But nothing about this experience has been reasonable.
Colonial refuses to address our questions regarding where exactly our items are currently, the conditions in which our items have been stored and when they will be delivered.
We have asked repeatedly for updates in writing, but gone none until we threatened a BBB complaint a few days ago. And then, today, when delivery again fell through, we got a voicemail at closing time. We have asked repeatedly for information about how our items have been stored - radio silence. We have asked to know how Colonial plans to get execute this delivery - nothing more than elusive delivery windows and broken promises.
Working with Colonial/Posh/who knows WHAT company has been an absolute nightmare. We have no idea where our items are, IF or when they will arrive and in what condition they will be in. This move has caused me and my family so much stress and strain, and Colonial has done nothing. Sometimes they’ll tell you things, and they are usually polite, but they don’t DO anything.
Do not hire this company, I will be reporting them to the BBB, the FMCSA, and the Florida Attorney General office as this company has apparently made a business out of deceiving customers.
Please do your own research and dig deep on review sites to see that this is standard practice for this company. I’m throughly disappointed and disgusted by this shady company.

They did a great job moving my stuff from Massachusetts to Tennessee

We were very satisfied with our move and the quality of the crew assigned to us. Having the same people handle both ends worked out very well. Thanks again!

Colonial helped us out so much after a scam of movers had caused us concern. They were professional and delivered quickly so that our move could take place and take place fast. The initial contact person was a super helpful person. The only semi negative feedback I would give is that the person who was supposed to be our contact person throughout the entire move was pretty non existent and hard to get in touch with. But others came up to bat so it was okay. The subcontractors they used were so wonderful. We lived way out in the sticks lol. I highly recommend them.

Communication was great, clear and easy to understand, with my Colonial agent. Also, follow up during and after the move was great.
The only surprise was the mover wasn't from Colonial, but a contract mover, probably from a network of movers. The company that did the work was good at communicating his schedule and keeping us updated. They did a very professional job and we were happy with the move.

Worst moving company I have ever dealt with. The only thing good about them was the price, but you get what you pay for. Once the sales person makes the “sale” they will not respond to any of your vmails or email. They will lie and say they are not sub-contracting to another company, but they will and did. They will not give you a firm delivery date, and then lie with different dates…I was given 4 different dates by 3 different people at Colonial. They have multiple people telling you different things and will lie to you when needed. The only other good news is that the sub-contractor was very good…they were the only ones I trusted as part of this move. Lastly, they tried to overcharge me for multiple services that were not provided and would not authorize the unload until that bill was paid in full. I paid it to get my goods and then had to submit a complaint which they provided the refund…the old bait & switch. Call anyone but Colonial as it will help your stress level. Too bad 0 stars was not an option.
REPLY: I call BS that you couldn’t find my account…more lies. You called me back and I provided the exact same response. Terrible company…do not use!!!
