I had a very disappointing experience with Coinbase. My account was placed under review due to a transaction that has already cleared and is no longer active. Despite this, my funds remain restricted, and I’ve been given no clear explanation as to why.
What’s most frustrating is the lack of transparency. I repeatedly asked for clarification and a timeline, but only received generic, scripted responses with no real answers. At one point, I was told I must wait until a specific date to regain access to my funds, even though there is no longer an active issue tied to the original transaction.
I understand that security and compliance reviews are necessary, but customers should not be left in the dark or denied access to their own money without clear communication.
To make matters worse, support agents were polite but unable to provide any meaningful help or escalation. The experience feels automated, impersonal, and incredibly stressful.
I hope Coinbase improves its communication and transparency, because situations like this seriously damage trust.

I have initiated a money transfer from Coinbase to my bank. Coinbase put it on hold. It took a while to find a phone for customer support, because it is not on their website. Talked to a person, the issue was not resolved even though I verified everything to the person.

Attempting to login after a period of time, the platform is not user-friendly and receiving actual technical assistance is impossible. When trying to work through technical issues, the customer ends up in a Catch-22esque cycle of being referred to one location only to reach a dead-end and be referred to the other, ad infinitum. If you want the absolutely worst, most frustrating, least productive customer experience of all time, sign up with these clowns.

Coinbase used to be my 'go to' exchange for crypto but recent events have changed this for good and I think people need to know this as a precautionary warning before sending them any money or crypto.
More recently, Coinbase kept asking me to revalidate myself (KYC) when attempting some of the legal transactions I had done so many times before. I had already done this when establishing the account so I was unsure why this was necessary.
It got worse when they suspended my ability to send MY crypto to another address, in this instance to my own wallet. I tried to go through their revalidation process, providing sensitive personal information only to receive an error that the picture of my credentials was blurry. It wasn't. Their website seems to have some kind of visual impairment.
They gave no reason for this 'send' suspension and now I have to wait over a month to have the 'send' functionality restored, but there's no guarantees. All I got was the following "For security reasons, we're not able to provide you with any additional information at this time.". This leaves me wondering... did I do something wrong? I did not do anything illegal (to the best of my knowledge) and am left wondering if I'm under some criminal investigation for doing a similar transaction that I have done on this, and other exchanges.
The other concern is that Coinbase may be about to "go bust". Exchanges have behaved strangely like this before, going under with everyone's money, but with the limited information given I can only speculate and am genuinely concerned if I'll ever see my crypto again, or if they'll just keep extending this restriction period.
The laughable thing is, they're allowing me to still deposit money and crypto, they're just stopping me from sending it to another address. Try figuring this "logic" out.
I am also able to cash-out my crypto (in my case, this would be at a substantial loss), but then again, there's no guarantees that they won't withhold this money for some obscure reason.
This is not a hit-piece on Coinbase but rather a warning. If an exchange starts acting strangely it may be time to withdraw everything... if you still can.

After dealing with Coinbase for almost a decade, I have had the most unsatisfactory experience which is making me review my future dealings with them. In January of this year, I needed to send $200 to a friend and because of new EU regulations, I had to enter his telephone number after inputting the crypto wallet address. As this was a new procedure for Coinbase, the crypto was sent to the phone number and NOT the wallet!! I reported this immediately and was advised that if the crypto had not been claimed after a period of 30 days, I would receive a full refund. The crypto has not been claimed and 5 times I have made contact with Coinbase Agents, only to be passed back and forth between different agents, having to repeat everything over again and again. Each time, I was online for over an hour end eventually gave up trying. There has been no feedback from Coinbase and neither have I received a refund. I feel I have been quite deliberately prevented from receiving a full refund and in the meantime, the original value has dropped alarmingly, leaving me with an considerable loss. I have been shamefully treated by a very large and wealthy company who have made it painfully obvious that they will use any method open to them to avoid reimbursing a long-standing client who has made an honest mistake

My experience with Coinbase has been extremely frustrating. Their system seems unreliable, and customer support feels almost useless—most responses appear automated and don’t actually address your concerns.
My funds have now been blocked for nearly 3 weeks for “security reasons,” with no clear explanation or timeline for resolution. What made it worse is that I initially received an email saying my withdrawal was available, but when I tried to access it two days later, it was suddenly blocked.
Support has not provided any real help or a clear answer on when this issue will be resolved. On top of that, when I decided to convert my funds back to euros, I was charged €52 in fees on a €600 transaction, which feels excessive.
Overall, this experience has been stressful and disappointing. I would not recommend this platform to others.

I ran into an issue with Coinbase recently when trying to withdraw my funds. My account suddenly required additional verification, even though I had already completed KYC before. Because of that, my funds were basically stuck for a while.
I submitted the documents again, but it took quite some time to get any clear update from support. The replies felt slow and not very helpful.
The platform itself is easy to use, but situations like this make it stressful, especially when you can’t access your own money. I hope they improve the support and verification process.

I’m a very seasoned IT infra and sys admin with a PhD CompSci
My transactions with Coinbase.com.au have been nothing less than bad. Easy peasy to get money into their system, and very difficult getting it out. Once you attempt to withdraw your account gets frozen until they call you (you can’t call them) and they then go over
Every aspect of “where are you sending your money to” while asking detailed questions about what I’m doing with my own money …. All under the pretence it’s for security…. Read my qualifications again…. It feels like they are about to pull an exit scam
Update: received an automated email from coinspot asking for my details which I have provided…. Alluding that you can’t find my account is preposterous
