Fun and thoughtful coaching

I really like Ben’s thoughtful approach to coaching, and the way we can get quite philosophical in our discussions. Ben is empathetic and funny and asks great questions to make me think differently: I usually come away with a list of words or phrases which are helpful to guide me until the next session. Going on ADHD meds and starting a new job after a period of burnout means I’m keen to avoid burnout again. Working with Ben to make me put things in place with this goal is useful, and having a coach with ADHD means he knows everything will change even if it’s working!

Ben coaching Made a such a Difference – Fantastic Support for ADHD

I was diagnosed with ADHD at aged 55 and I went into a new job shortly afterwards, as a declared neurodiverse person but without really knowing what I should be asking for or expecting from my new employer. And I don’t think they knew either which meant relationships eventually soured and that is when I turned to Ben. I think the first thing he showed me was that all the strategies I’d come up with over the years and was clinging to as my solutions for a neurotypical world were not necessarily the best solutions. So we started to look at who I am and who I was and I how I could approach my job and manage the anxiety it was creating. It was mind blowing!
And then I lost my job, and Ben was brilliant at guiding through the initial loss and pain and the inevitable self-doubt. I felt that a neurotypical world wasn’t really ready to understand me and that I didn’t want another boss and decided that I wanted to work for myself. Again, Ben was wonderful at helping me to develop my plans and in supporting me as I worked out directions I wanted to explore and eventually pursue. And he really shone at coaching me through a structured approach. He made a frightening and painful process into something to look forward to, to be excited about, and I really wouldn’t have got there on my own.
And during all of this, Ben was gently guiding me to open my mind to how I thought about myself and my relationships, how to manage my stress and anxiety and how to be present in the moment so that I could put the future and past aside and enjoy now. Ben is so good at gently exploring thoughts and ideas and opening up possibilities and of enthusiastically celebrating successes.
If you have got as far as reading these reviews you really should give Ben a call.

Coaching and therapy

After years of suffering and a new diagnosis of ADHD at the age of 53, I did not know where to go. I then came across Ben. I did not think that therepy and talking would help but how wrong I was!!
From our first meeting, Ben had this way of making me feel at ease, able to open up to things that had affected me all my life. His way of helping and explaining is brilliant, as he doesnt "fix" but makes me think about the situation and develop ways of coping and dealing with it. It can be hard as Ben will ask searching questions but it is so rewarding.
Ben never judges and has a way to make me feel that i matter.
I would definately recommend to anyone as he has been a great help to me - Thank you Ben.

Would definitely recommend Ben as a coach

As a mental health professional myself, I know it's hard to find a coach who is the right fit. I found the coaching sessions with Ben enlightening and powerful. His style is warm and empathetic, and I found the way he held space for my often rambling thoughts and helped me distill what is it that needs more focus really helpful.

Bens sessions were an absolute Game changer

I found Ben after months of searching for a coach who understood adhd and the way it works in counselling. I had had various CBT counselling sessions and never found they worked.
Right from the start, Ben took the time to listen to my previous experiences and got me.
Each session felt useful and I came away with new tools to be able to move forward on my journey of figuring out how to “rewire” my brain that I had felt was working against me for so long!
When I first started talking with Ben, I was an extremely low/dark place, but with his help and lifestyle changes, I am 100 times better and feel I understand my different way of thinking and have been given various coping mechanisms/strategies to use moving forward.

I would highly recommend Ben to anyone.

Thanks so much for your help

Coaching offers confidence and much more.

I have found that confidence is everything in living with ADHD. I can read books and self help guides all day long, but if I don't feel confident in what I am learning or reading (classic ADHD) then it doesn't ever quite stay with me. Ben was the bridge for me between thinking I knew how to live with and thrive with ADHD and actually doing so in a way that sticks. Ben is engaging, patient, encouraging and was the final piece in the puzzle for me to being ok with who I am and what my limitations are. It does take daily practice and the road isn't always smooth, but coaching does firmly point you in the right direction. For anyone thinking about coaching I would definitely say go for it- even if it's just to feel confident that you do actually know yourself and it's ok that you have ADHD. You might even be able to put medication to rest in the not too distant future. For me that has been the biggest relief yet (and that is absolutely not to put anyone off- medication works when you need it, but it wasn't a long term solution for me and I'm glad to be past it).

Highly recommended CBT therapist

I am a 54 year old male whod only been diagnosed with ADHD in the last year.

I had eight online sessions with Ben.

I would highly recommend him because of his ability to select the topic of the day effortlessly by judging how I was feeling at the start of each session.

He had the ability to structure the session around topics that were affecting me at that time and introduced coping strategies very organically.

I felt able to communicate with him easily due to his relaxed style.

Fantastic experience

I wasn’t sure what to expect from life coaching as I didn’t really clearly know what I needed. I had just been diagnosed with ADHD in my late 30’s and was struggling with a lot of things. Ben’s lived experience as a fellow ADHDer was invaluable and made me feel really comfortable. Ben created a safe space and helped me connect with my thoughts and feelings which I was very much struggling to do initially and this helped me work out what to do as a next step.
I highly recommend working with Ben and wouldn’t hesitate to work with him again in the future.

I was experiencing major overwhelm

I was experiencing major overwhelm, had dipped in to some depression, and was feeling out of control in many ways. I was relying on alcohol, and other unhealthy coping mechanisms.

Talking to Ben was unlike any other talking therapy i have had before, in a really good way! The focus on and kowledge he has about ADHD really helped me see my life through this lens, and understand a lot of the things that I struggle with are down to that. Realising and knowing these things seems to be half the battle, as you then have more compassion for yourself. Ben has suggested some practical ways to cope/ get organised etc as well so it's a mix of him helping you realise things, as well as practical solutions, and also just reframing how you think about things, in a really useful and helpful way.

I feel much better than i did. I really recommend Ben if you're struggling.

Ben is simply excellent!

Ben is simply excellent!! Having been there,( with ADHD ), he has an empathy and way about him that gives him total credibility.
I was made to feel instantly at ease, and in no time at all I realised that there is nothing fundamentally wrong with me.
I feel more energised and focused on me as a person, and not getting bogged down with constantly worrying what other people thought of me. Ben will make you believe more in yourself whilst helping you realise your worth to others. I 100% recommend Ben to anyone.

Thank you Ben

I reached out to Ben earlier this year due to struggling with my newley diagnosed ADHD. I was diagnosed at 23, I am now 26. My struggles have been constant throughout my whole life & I never truly understood why.
I then met Ben, who has helped me understand more about ADHD and how it affects me personally. Ben has helped me in ways which I can’t thank him enough for, he has been brilliant from the moment I met him. He is so understanding & patient, he has helped me to understand myself in a way in which I never even understood myself before.
Thanks to Ben my life is going in a much better direction. I am so much happier & more focused on my goals. I continue to practise every frame work Ben has given me, I use them on a daily basis to help me.

I strongly recommend reaching out to Ben if you are struggling, and I am sure he will help you just like he has helped me.
I cannot thank Ben enough !

Renewed sense of purpose

Renewed sense of purpose. Ben managed to somehow take a huge overview of everything that needed changing, without judgement. Then through a calm process of conversation and supportive direction ignite a sense of newness and energy. His guidance from bumpier times into an optimistic future is something I will forever be grateful for. Somethings in life truly are priceless and what Ben offers is one of them.

When I started with Ben I was looking…

When I started with Ben I was looking for help specifically with my business and how I could implement strategies to help with my business.

I chose Ben due to his background in yoga as I thought we would vibe. I was right.

I think, even though I was looking for logistical help, I was drawn to Ben for the help he has given me in every aspect of life.

He has been very adaptable, helping me through difficult emotional situations, when work was the last thing on my mind, and I think that the work we have done has grounded me so much that I feel confident continuing on my path in self-employment, rather than ‘giving up’ to move back into employment.

Grounding and porous boundaries were the biggest issues that came up. These things were affecting every part of my life.

Ben challenged my thoughts in a way that I now have lots of different angles to look from, and his use of visualisation and meditation really reinforced the goals we have established for me moving forward.

If you want a holistic approach to your specific struggles, knowing that every aspect of life is interconnected, whether we want it to be or not. Ben is the right person for you!

Ben’s knowledge of neurodivergence, and how certain struggles can be explained from a neurological standpoint, really helps to understand and put in place strategies to overcome our challenges.

Where I was when I started - doing too much and not getting anywhere, with shiny object syndrome. Ignoring the toxic relationship that was reinforcing the porous, people pleasing nature of my boundaries in every aspect of life.

Where I am now - Happily saying ‘no’ to my loved ones when their expectations/demands are unreasonable in relation to who I am and what I stand for.

I have broken the chain and am aware of many other patterns that I will continue to interrupt to ensure I am living primarily for myself.

ADHD

I was searching for a therapist who had experience of ADHD. I found Ben via the Headstuff ADHD Therapy website. As soon as I made contact with Ben I knew I had made the right decision and felt a real connection with him.
Since working together I have become more self aware, feeling more confident in dealing with challenges. Recognising my significant strengths and life experience.
Ben has enabled me to see life's challenges as opportunities for growth rather than problems.
I have been able to recognise the importance of addressing my own needs and learning to say no. I realised that I have lived my life putting the needs of others before myself. This realisation has been life changing for me.
I have been surprised how after a lifetime of struggling how much I have grown in just a few sessions with Ben. I have felt empowered by our sessions and have been able to apply the insights to my life between sessions.
Ben has a unique way of working enabling you to recognise and tap into your inner strengths and talents. Some of our most productive sessions have been when I've not had an agenda and worked with my feelings in the moment.
I have worked as a Counsellor for many years and have had counselling myself at various points in my life. I have no hesitation in recommending Ben if you are looking to move forward in your life.

Lost in my career

I got in contact with Ben at a point in my life where I felt lost in my career. Not only did Ben hugely help with this, but also with a number of other facets of my life.
Ben has helped me put a new perspective on “how I was doing.”
He helped me put value on the things that really matter and recognise the positives.
Although there were a number of Ah-Ha moments, getting a new perspective on what I probably already knew I found to be massively helpful. Thank you Ben.

I really looked forward to each sessions and although totally professional they were fun and freeing.
I would 100% recommend the sessions to anyone, you’ll love it.

Reconnection with my children...

The number one thing Ben helped me to achieve was a reconnection with my children. As a father it’s hard to think of anything more important in life.

My favourite a-ha moment when working with Ben was realising how I could be creating boundaries and transitions between the different roles I play in life, which has allowed me to be more present in each role.

I also experienced the value of acknowledging life ‘as it is right now’ as a fundamental basis/requirement for authentic intentional progress.

From ‘landing’ in the present I have been able to bring more curiosity and playfulness into my creative process - which is deeply satisfying. I had become accustomed to ‘hotwiring’ my creative process.

Ben’s way of working is unpressured and freeing. We went at my pace, not his and there were no hidden agendas about getting ‘results’. It was more about guiding me to become aware of deeper fundamental processes and then enabling me to update and improve upon them.

One additional a-ha moment was noticing the difference between saying ‘and’ instead of ‘but’. It encourages integration rather than a binary approach to the reflection of experience.

Rejuvenated optimism, focus and drive

I reached out to Ben as I was desperate to feel energized about life again. Since meeting with Ben I have noticed a significant shift to my inner dialogue along with a rejuvenated optimism, focus and drive. This is a huge deal for me. The biggest improvements are the curiosity I now afford my thoughts and the power of intention.

This has allowed me to deepen my understanding of my real goals and question myself honestly which is a completely new feeling that I'm still exploring personally. Through this I’ve been able to remove some unnecessary baggage and put energy into the correct places. I'm already feeling calmer and more in control as well as a more present dad which was one of my main goals.

I have long been told ‘be kind to yourself’ and while that made sense I actually didn't know how to do that or what it truly meant until working with Ben. I’d say the most effective exercise that helped me connect to my thoughts was to ‘interview my troll’. I found this very funny and went away and learned a lot about what my blocks were. This new curious approach has been a complete game-changer that positively affects almost every aspect of how I now process thoughts and information. I now feel more connected to what matters and, through other exercises, feel like I have the tools to achieve it.

There have been many many great analogies and dots that Ben has helped me connect but one particular moment was in our first session when we did a visualization exercise and it became apparent to me I hadn’t clearly defined my goals, which was a surprise to me as I had naturally felt like I was on a path and it was external things that held me back. This realization was a huge help in understanding why I didn't feel in control or sense of achievement. From this exercise I was/am now aware of the importance of decluttering and defining goals which has helped me get back on track, feel more in control and strangely lighter as I was able to cut through some BS goals I didn't really care about. This has brought excitement and hope to the future but also allowed me to review things I had already achieved and forgot to appreciate.

I find the sessions so light and breezy, probably due to how Ben uses his gift of humour to help me relax and get into it. Our sessions are a highlight of my week. I always have at least a handful of ‘oh yeah’ moments, some mind expanding concepts and I always leave with energy, focus and new techniques to try. Ben's methods have ignited connections that other practitioners were unable to and I wholeheartedly recommend you chat to him.

Tapping in to energy and focus.

I wanted to get more from my weekly schedule without losing my work-life balance and without it feeling like any more work. Ben helped me to value the things I am doing, and tap into some deep energy for the things I want more of. The number one thing I learned was about boundaries and an ability to say no, gently but clearly. I also now have a cork-board on the wall with clear visions and plans which is really helpful. The sessions were a safe space for conversation, I felt heard, it was fun, and we did some relaxing closed-eye visualisations and used some vivid metaphors, which really brought some key ideas and feelings to life. Thank you Ben. I totally recommend anyone to work with you who wants to create and achieve great things! Yes!
