I would give this company -10 if I could. I signed a contract with a designer that then left the company and there was no follow up for four months. Then I was assigned a second Designer, who also left without follow up from a manager. I have a signed contract with my design for 2 closet walls. After three rescheduling of installation dates, they finally showed up and installed the wrong design, the wrong color, wood, and omitted the second wall. Garret the manager never reached out to ask me how we could resolve the issue refused to return my calls, and told the installation manager that I couldn’t make up my mind and wouldn’t pay them on time. I was out of the country on business and it did slip my mind but I am again the customer. When I did put the 50% deposit down,I signed contract with my design and choice of color, everything slowed down considerably. I was given the option to rip out the wall and reinstall what I originally wanted however, at this point I had been so mistreated and I didn’t trust the company any longer. Pricing is unclear and they offer you a ‘deal.’ it’s really not a deal at all. Their contract system is a mess.
The employees are rude, act like they’re doing you a favor and treat you horribly and don’t return phone calls. I asked for a discount to make up for incorrect installation,and I would just keep the mistake that they made and they refuse to give the discount so I hired another company to finish the job. I was just told by email yesterday that they are going to pursue legal action to be paid for a job they never completed.. the most unorganized company I have ever dealt with and I am a businesswoman. I would not recommend this company for anyone.

I contacted Closets By Design but decided not to hire them due to a very poor overall experience. The designer (M) I spoke with was pleasant and appeared knowledgeable, but she was very pushy about having me sign the contract the same day — which I declined. She also refused to share the designs she had created, even though I had provided almost all the details. Communication with M was slow ; despite promising quick responses, it often took her several days to reply.At certain point I gave up

In addition, the contract they asked me to sign seemed very sketchy and unprofessional. It required providing the credit card details in the contract ! for the first payment (which is unsafe and not recommended), and it is stipulated that the final payment be made upon the arrival of the installation team! — not upon completion of the work. The contract also failed to mention any project timeline. Overall, the terms were unusual and unlike what’s typically seen in this industry.

While their prices may seem competitive, I found it hard to believe the discounts were genuine, as the original prices appeared extremely inflated. I strongly advise caution before hiring this company. You’ll find many reviews describing experiences similar to mine. I can’t comment on the quality of their work, as I ultimately did not proceed with them.

I was quite shocked to be asked to pay the balance before they even began the installation. In my case, however it has not turned out well. My install was Mid-September 2025, and the closets are still not to my satisfaction. The finish on the shelves and framing is jagged and unfinished. Almost like the pieces were used. The hanging bars will fall if moved slightly due to ill-fitting hardware. There are scrapes and marks all over both closets. My sales rep was no help at all and kept defending the work without seeing the results. Reached out to Customer Service, they at first appeared to care but the last I heard from them was September 24th more than 2 weeks ago. I am very sorry that I hired Closets by Design and caution anyone considering hiring them to be very sure of what they are paying for. Honestly wish I had just bought pieces from Ikea - far better quality of materials and finishes, and cheaper by thousands of dollars. I am trying to be optimistic that they will make things right, but as time passes, I am becoming doubtful. Two of my neighbours are also renovating and wanted to see my finished closets - I have not shown them as I am embarrassed by what I paid thousands of dollars for. HIRE WITH CAUTION. Suggest you hire another company.

Takako at Closets by Design is wonderful to work with. She designed closets for both my home and my rental, and each project came out beautifully. She’s creative, fast, and very fair with pricing and a pleasure to work with. The process was smooth from start to finish, and I’ll definitely call again for future projects.

I just had two closets installed, and I wa extremely disappointed. They were poorly designed, with huge amounts of wasted space. The sizing of the drawers is both two big and too small, the depth is too short and everything hangs out weird. Plus there are hikes everywhere! Not custom, not high quality, not good design. I wish I’d just put a bar up and added a ones dresser. It would have been better tban this.

Hard to give a review when they never showed up. I called to see if they were running late. They said someone would call. No one did. Wasting my time with this company. South west Michigan

The discount is tricky, you never know the real price. The sales is tricky, they told you 12 inch depth, they don't tell you half of your clothes will be hanging out, installation was delayed multiply times. Please try to avoid this company as much as you can. The last thing is their life time warranty is 7 years by industry standard, but they only tell you that when it's installed not when decision is made, not going to recommend them to anyone I know

This is my 2nd time using this company. My first experience was outstanding! The 2nd time, there were a couple miscalculations, and maybe a "not so experienced installer".... but once I called them, they were quick to send someone out to fix the mistakes! In the end, I am very happy! If you are in Palm Beach County, I highly recommend AJ and Christian for installers. AJ knows exactly what he's doing!!!

I had Takako from closets By Design visit my home to give me an estimate to get a custom home office built.She drew a beautiful design and explained it to me very well.She is also an architect,and her talent is shown in her work.She was very flexible in accommodating my time schedule and very honest and thorough.She also gave me a very reasonable quote and I couldn’t be more happier.I have had closets by design do 3 of my closets and they are very good.My experience with Takako was the BEST.I would highly recommend her if anyone has a project to be done.5 star service….

I used Closet by Design service for 3 large to medium closets for my renovated house. Takako Oji Gutterman helped me with whole design process with very personal touch to meet all our needs. She was able to quickly close the deal with good discounts. Got the installation done as per agreed schedule by John Fest. John was very professional and he did flawless installation. He even helped with small glitch in the electric fitting positioning and adjusted to fit the intended design. Takako did post installation followup and addressed few of our requests without hesitation. Overall great experience and I already placed the next order for few more cabinets for bathroom and office.

I am very disappointed with my closets. I was promised one thing, and received something totally different. My designer consultant assured me that I would get 16 inch depth closets, which I was only able to finally get 12 inch depth. In my opinion closet by design is misleading and deceitful. If you decide to used them be sure to have them put everything in writing what you are getting, don’t go by the designer promises which aren't going to work at all

Very BAD Experience with this company in Sun City West, AZ. Apparently they don’t know how to make a corner bench for a kitchen nook because they brought all the wrong parts and didn’t have any measurements from the designer. The manager Cecilia Brown is a bully and a thief. See all of the BAD reviews on Yelp, Google and Facebook before you take a chance with this company. You may be one of the lucky ones who has a good experience, or they may bring the wrong product, put it together on your floor without protecting the floor, and then find they don’t have the correct measurements. The worst product and expertise, and no installation and they withdraw money from your credit card anyhow, and refuse to give it back!! That is my experience. The owner Gil Santo and his wife Debby Santo have not returned my calls or emails.

Very bad experience, Phoenix AZ; they stole my money from my credit card without my approval and no product installation. They are refusing to refund the money. Buyer BEWARE!!

Great communication. Robert was the design consultant and he was very knowledgeable, patient and detailed. Fair price…good quality. Franco was the installer and did a great job. Very respectful of my home and made sure I was happy before he left. His helper Jalao (I’m sure I misspelled that) did a great job too. Both very professional. Highly recommend 👍

Solomon came to install the cabinets on my garage. He was on time and very professional and let everything clean. Great Experience.

I do not recommend Closets by Design at all.
As a first-time homeowner, I was excited to invest in custom closets, but this experience turned into a total nightmare. I trusted their senior designer, Guy, who assured me of quality and professionalism neither of which I received. Despite warning him about my aunt's prior bad experience with this company (they blocked an outlet and never fixed it), he made the exact same mistake in my home by covering a light switch and blocking the closet door from closing. Worse, the shelf depths he quoted were comically small for the actual space 12-inch shelves in closets 19 to 31 inches deep. He never walked me through the measurements or options in the actual closet space and never showed 3D renderings, unlike other companies I consulted. I was totally upset and unable to speak once I saw the results of what I was quoted and when I was finally ready to talk and express why I was upset with the results, he got defensive and told me to take it up with customer service. In the end, the "solution" was for me to spend another $1,500 to replace two closets after already paying $7,600. No accountability. No apology. Just a massive bill and deep regret. Save yourself the stress and the money go with another company.
