Super useful app, does load more than the transportation. Take in account the freeload options (rental bike, scooter, cars). Give you super accurate instruction (which wagon to take to be in front of... See more

Misleading routing information led to phone theft, avoidable safety exposure and distress

I rely on Citymapper to plan journeys in advance so I can avoid taking my phone out in public. On this occasion, inaccurate routing information forced me to do exactly that, directly exposing me to risk.

Citymapper showed Bus 30 departing from Hackney Central Station (Stop J). When I arrived, Stop J was closed. There was no clear warning, no indication the stop was unavailable, and no guidance to an alternative boarding point (such as Stop T). The route continued to be presented as valid.

To verify the issue, I checked TfL’s official journey planner, which did not list Bus 30 as an option for this journey at all, only Bus 38. Citymapper, however, continued to surface Bus 30 despite the stop closure and conflicting official data.

Because of this discrepancy, I had to take my phone out at Hackney Central to recheck directions. Shortly afterwards, my phone was forcibly taken of my hand. The incident left me shaken and in acute distress.
I had checked the route at home and followed the app exactly as instructed. This was not user error.

Journey-planning apps are relied upon for accuracy and situational awareness, not just convenience. When closed stops are not clearly flagged and alternative boarding instructions are missing, the risk is shifted onto the user.

This experience has significantly reduced my trust in Citymapper for advance journey planning.

Sitting at Luton airport fizzing

Sitting at Luton airport. It told me to catch 22.44 to St Pancras. I have just seen an earlier direct train come in and leave that has less stops. This train takes 40 mins. The earlier train takes 20. Seriously the worst. It told me earlier today to wander along the banks of Loch Lomond to catch an airport bus. I knew the area. No bussed there and the means to get to Loch Lomond were very suspect. It’s a 6 mile walk over hills.

Very happy with Citymapper app

I have been using Citymapper for many years now, and honestly, I can’t imagine navigating urban life without it. The app is super intuitive, everything is laid out clearly, and it’s incredibly easy to use.

Whether I’m hopping on a bus, catching a train, or walking to a new park, Citymapper gives me the best route options in seconds.

What I love most is how reliable it is. The information is always up-to-date and accurate, so I never feel like I’m guessing. No bugs, no glitches, just smooth sailing every time I open it.

It’s fast, efficient, and genuinely helpful. Plus, the little touches of personality in the app make it feel like you have got a clever friend guiding you through the city.

And the best part: it is free to use!

If you’re looking for a travel app that actually delivers, Citymapper is it. Highly recommend!

Totally useless

I have a short journey to make within the city centre. I cannot walk as i have bad knees, so wanted to plan a journey using buses. However, because this is a short journey the app assumes i will walk and ONLY shows walking option!!! Hello what about disabled users??? Complete waste of time

Absolutely dreadful

Absolutely dreadful. Refuses to allow you to plan a journey if you aren't currently in that city even if you turn location off.

Excellent

Far superior to Google and Apple Maps. Has up to date info on cancellations, what’s running, etc. also has better options for determining best mode of transport with options for air conditioning

The worst travel app ever

The worst travel app ever. Literally never accurate. Always displays the wrong information on bus & train times. Used to be good but nowadays it constantly makes me late. DO NOT USE. Google maps is much better..

I *still* Love Citymapper…🏅🥰👏🏾

Update August 25 - Paris Trip: Another hi 5 🙌🏾 to the City Mapper team, as I used the app on a recent trip to Paris and was impressed once again, really happy that the change of city to Paris came up straightaway when my plane landed in paris🥰 . *Feedback on Glitches* I love the app but there have been some noticable glitches using it in London and Paris, the names of metro stations came up slightly different and the moving pointer would move too fast or too slow (could be due to wifi signal) Glitches in London are the pointer seems to be confused in navigating in the right direction and has me going backwards, so I have to keep turning around to know what is the right direction- this can be fustrating when I'm half way down the road only to find its the wrong way🙄¿¿¿. I do hope it can get fixed if it's a glitch 🙏🏾
Have been using this app for a few years to check bus times, but more recently I have used more of the features - save planned journey routes, and now I'm using it for my new job to get me around and I am so very impressed with the app especially the walking routes with the moving navigator to indicate your on the right path, and even when using the DLR, I noticed the app was moving along at each station, and it tells you what part of the train is best to get on for the exit at each station - I LOVE IT💯! Thank you CityMapper 👏🏾👏🏾and to think the same app can be used in different cities around the world / Europe. I LOVE IT.💖🏅🥰

To know where you’re going it needs to know where you are

It used to be my go-to navigation app, for many years. These days, while the transport departure times are still accurate, the geolocation is way off, meaning it will tell you to walk 10-15mins to the departure point, often double-backing on yourself.

What’s changed? Apparently, in 2023 it was bought out by another company and from there it appears to be the usual story of corporate greed replacing the quality developed from the original creator’s heart.

These buyouts should come with a health warning.

Useless app

Completely useless app. It shows things initially, but then the buses turn grey and say ‘Transport UK,’ and they never show up. Totally useless!

Got hacked via this app. I don't recommend it. The attacker took 15 GB in one day and another 12Gb the other. Uninstalled and not coming back. Sorry guys, please proof it better or your score is 0 stars. Have a successful week all
