Boat Missing

Booked for Mother's Day - Arrived at the meeting point early as advised, and waited for the boat which did not turn up. Called City Cruises who told me it was cancelled. No apology, just a rather rude "an email was sent out yesterday by 'Get Your Guide' to tell you it was cancelled" and no assistance was offered in obtaining a refund. I then contacted Get Your Guide who had absolutely no idea it had been cancelled - so they clearly hadn't sent an email yesterday to tell me (which was confirmed during the phone conversation). We'd travelled from out of town especially for this, and struggled to find an alternative restaurant with availability on Mother's Day at such short notice.
If cancelling the day before, perhaps make sure that the customers are actually informed. A quick phonecall would suffice. Instead I wasted time and money driving to and parking in York.

We are sorry that your Fish and Chips cruise was cancelled.
When you book through a 3rd Party, which in this case was Getyourguide, they do not provide us with your email address. The notice was sent to the masked email that was on the booking. I can see in the time line that this was sent on Saturday before. Please check you trash email incase.

York and the River Ouse is prone to flooding. We cannot predict when this will be. A lot of the times it can be same day. There is nothing we can do about this sadly.
The checks are done each morning and this is for the safety of the passengers, as the boats cannot sail on the flooded river.

All guests were notified by email and we did make a decision the day before.

Once again, we are sorry for the inconvenience and this was out of our control

The food was great

The food was great. The weather couldn’t have been any better. Very romantic overall. Enjoyed being able to dance. You didn’t have that when we were on the dinner cruise ten years ago. 🍷

Second time paying so much money and…

Second time paying so much money and very disappointed! I will never do this again, nor will I recommend this again to anyone. Poor service, not sanitary. And not properly staffed to serve large crowds. Never again
Not to mention they cancelled my original date, and I had to settle for what they gave me. Horrible experience!

This will be our second luncheon trip…

This will be our second luncheon trip with City Cruises to see the Cherry Blossoms. On our first trip, we didn't expect to have a delicious luncheon plus music and dancing. We had such a great time we are bringing back another group 4/1/26.

The cruise was amazing

The cruise was amazing. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The views and food were awesome. My only issue was we almost missed the cruise because we couldn’t find the location. The address listed on the booking is a building not a dock location. There were no additional notes explaining any walkways to get us to the actual boat from the building address. We only found the boat by accident on our way back to our car, 3 minutes after the cruise was supposed to leave. Luckily it had not left yet and we barely made it. We had a group of 8 people are were celebrating my moms 70th birthday.

You booked this with a Virgin Voucher. Sadly, they have expiry dates and as such once that has passed we cannot book you onto the cruise.

Virgin Vouchers have a payment code and if it is not valid ,we cannot add to the system.

We also cannot refund vouchers as you have not paid us directly, Virgin have a process that they need to follow to request a refund.

This is why it has to all go through Virgin when you have an issue.

We are sorry that you had so many issues and we hope to see you in the future.

OK boat

OK boat, comfortable and no wind. No whales but received coupons for another trip. However, misplaced the coupons and found after they expired.

Super relaxed afternoon

I been in the champagne brunch several…

I been in the champagne brunch several times, but the last time was very disappointed because in the past you use to have a bigger variety of food a real Brunch. This time was very poor. Also last time we really enjoyed the live music on the deck. We really miss the better amenities that you used to pampered us. For the price you guys charge per person all my group was agree that now reserve at the Horn Blower is overrated.😞

Horrible Valentine’s Day dinner

We booked the Valentine’s Day dinner cruise in Chicago feb 14 and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience from start to finish.

We drove six hours from Ohio for this event and paid a lot of money expecting a special evening. Instead, we were seated at a very small table with little to no space and absolutely no view, which was frustrating for a Valentine’s dinner cruise.

Service was extremely poor. Our server did not take our drink order until well after departure, and we only saw her about four times the entire night. We constantly had to flag down staff just to get drinks or napkins.

Both my husband and I ordered steak and were never asked how we wanted it cooked. When it arrived, both steaks were nearly rare. It took a long time to even find our server to send the food back. By the time she returned it was already around 9:00 PM. We stepped away briefly to watch the fireworks, and when we came back about 15 minutes later, the plates were sitting there. It appeared the same steaks were simply put back, as they were still undercooked.

When she asked how the food was, I told her it was horrible and asked her to take it away. She said she would bring a box and never returned. Around 10:00 PM, as guests were leaving, we were still waiting just to pay for our alcoholic drinks because our server was nowhere to be found. I had to locate a manager myself.

The manager apologized and said they were understaffed. He told us the drinks would be comped and that I would receive a voucher, but I have not received anything.

Our server was pleasant when she was around, but the overall service and food quality were unacceptable. We paid a significant amount of money and didn’t even get to enjoy dinner. This was supposed to be a special Valentine’s experience, and it ended up being incredibly disappointing.
