Telephone assistance is horrible! These people will disconnect the call and will not assume responsbility for anything. There are some very nice tellers but everything else about this bank is troubl... See more

Long wait time and take seven days if…
Long wait time and take seven days if you want to get cash from bank. I called to make sure that money should be sent to my bank so that I can withdraw it. Customer assistance told me that it will take seven business days to process it.
CIBC is the worst bank to deal with.
CIBC is notorious for terrible customer service. No matter if you're in person or if you're trying to get a hold of them on the phone, unbelievable wait times, people that don't speak correct English with heavy accents, dropping phone calls, transferring you to different departments, transferring you back to the main menu. It's frustrating and ridiculous. I don't even know why I have an account ..it's just through Costco they forced us to have a CIBC account to link credit card.
Absolutely cannot stand this Bank and based on their reviews which are primarily one star neither can anybody else. Terrible bank, terrible service, highly recommend to stay away from them. Go for RBC they have amazing service and communication.
terrible service
terrible service
long wait times
unreachable information given by online phone operators
make me want to start drinking again when spending half a day with the dispute centre and getting nowhere
Cannot access my money
I have been extremely frustrated with cibc. November 2022, they wouldn’t let me set up to verify online banking with an alternative (out of country) phone number while I was away for a year. Leaving me to pay obscene Canadian out of country cell phone fees to keep my money safe. I’ve spoken with them about the issue and there’s no fix.
Also, the mobile app was out ALL DAY yesterday. Now I’m trying to transfer money to my Wise account (a travel need) and the mobile app won’t connect with Wise, and it’s a SIXTY minute wait to talk to a human. I feel my money is trapped by their horrible IT!
i wish zero stars
i wish zero stars. Horrible service. no thought for customers. my card was compromised. ok. but i’m travelling away from home and nowhere close to a cibc bank to get a replacement in next week or so. i asked if they would send a new card to an address where im staying ( different province ).
They flatly refused. Abysmal service. please if you bank with cibc switch to another bank asap. i know i shall
COSTCO fumbled the Ball recommending CIBC
The Credit card Costco recommends...the CIBC MasterCard is terrible. It does not show me the balance due, and will not allow autopay. CIBC is the lowest of the 5 big banks...no wonder. I am surprised COSTCO deals and pushes us to the worst of the 5 big banks????
CIBC the worst of all 5 for a reason
I deal with TD, BNS, RBC, and CIBC. I can tell you that the service and the product at CIBC is the worst, by far!
They try to razzle dazzle you with terms and conditions on their credit cards, all the while fail in delivery. LOL, They even fail on how they facilitate accepting payment AVOID CIBC, even when disguised by COSTCO!
Worst call support experience
Worst call support experience. They have been redirecting me to all different department without solving my problem.
CIBC Costco Credit Card and Simplii…
CIBC Costco Credit Card and Simplii Financial have the worst customer service ever! Both don't listen, reps give attitude and are rude. When you complain, they don't take it seriously. This one guy from "Client Care" Shawn Brignolio has a massive ego complex and is also a complete biased tool! Debanked me for making a complaint from rude staff. Screw these losers! Im going to their competitors and letting everyone know to close their accounts and not sign up with them.
Not helpful
Really hated cibc, I been loyal customer over 20 years, I never got help once from that bank.no loan no credit and no overdraft. I hated this bank.
I would strongly advise against using…
I would strongly advise against using this bank due to the $16.95 monthly fee that makes it hard to really save anything in your checking account. ANY bank that has a fee higher that 5-10.00 is a damn thief and we as bank users deserve better and more respect.
Are you okay CIBC?
I have been a client of CIBC since I was 14 (26 years ago), and until recently, I have been happy to be a client of theirs.
The quality of their customer service has gone down significantly. Their Imperial service team is an absolute joke. Four business days to respond to a question is unacceptable. Given their lack of accountability, I have decided to leave my investments elsewhere and will continue to do so until they get their acts together.
I see that poor customer service seems to be a MAJOR issue for CIBC. Do better.
I have been a loyal CIBC customer for…
I have been a loyal CIBC customer for over three years, but I’m deeply upset. When I ran into unexpected cash advance fees, I thought CIBC would help, especially as a loyal customer. Even after speaking with a supervisor, and with many others they offered no support. In other situations, TD has been fantastic at helping customers, and I really expected better from CIBC.
CIBC is the worst bank in the world
CIBC is the worst bank in the world. Although the branch I dealt with was friendly and polite how they treated me as an overall company was dishonest, time wasting and unprofessional. They treated me there customers like criminals, while filling you with lies. I had my account blocked preventing me from doing my business. 1st lie was it will just be for 24-48 hours. They didn’t call back as requested. Lie #2. I called them for lie #3 which was we will lift the block once I send in what they requested through email. I obliged sending my receipts for e-transfers I received and the work I completed. All was good. They again didn’t return a call. Lee from the fraud department is a complete hack and has no clue what’s she’s doing, as I did nothing wrong but got blocked by her. I called again in which I was told 10 business days to investigate. I’ve already sent my receipts. Which prove me innocent of any of my claims. But again no contact lie#4 as I was told I would be contacted by Lee herself. At this point I’ve spoken to her once and she failed to return my calls. I called again to be told my services have been terminated and a letter was sent in the mail. They would not state for what reason. Which there isn’t a reason as I literally have done nothing wrong. My lawyer has been notified and he is certain that I’ll be filing a lawsuit as the way I’ve been treated is illegal and baseless. They make decisions regarding your services you pay for based on nothing. I strongly suggest banking online with modern technology companies like koho and wealth simple as cibc has proven to be nothing but dishonest.
I called to see about switching my…
I called to see about switching my current mortgage to CIBC. Went through all my info with an agent. I was told I would get a call back in a couple days. After 2 weeks of no call back I called again only to be told I would get another call back soon. That was a few days ago. I guess they don't want or need my business. I have an almost perfect credit score so there is absolutely no credit issue!
I have been on hold for over 30mins
I have been on hold for over 30mins. I find it difficult to imagine a company making so much money cannot afford to properly staff their phone lines. At least they could offer to call you back instead of keeping people on hold. Really ridiculous.
Lack of service
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the service I recently received at your branch regarding a check issued to me by my insurance company.
During my visit, I was assisted by two associates Neharika Rahman (Goes by ‘Neha’)
Prem Modi (Was being trained during my appt)
who she appeared unfamiliar with how to properly handle and process the check. As a result of this lack of knowledge, I experienced an unnecessary delay. This situation caused me significant inconvenience, as I had to wait longer than expected and incur additional expenses for a car rental due to the delay.
I would, however, like to acknowledge one associate, George Willis, who demonstrated professionalism and competence. He was the only staff member who seemed to understand the situation and made an effort to assist me effectively. His help was greatly appreciated.
I find it concerning that multiple staff members, including management,
Tong Li (Manager) were not adequately trained to handle what should be a routine banking matter. I believe this reflects a need for improved staff training and better customer service practices.
I kindly request that this matter be reviewed and that appropriate steps be taken to ensure that other customers do not face similar issues in the future. Additionally, I would appreciate consideration for compensation for the inconvenience and extra costs I incurred as a result of this situation.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
They wont allow you to cancal credit cards
Customer service is really difficult just pushes you threw to the next person, . Got 4 people and still did nothing, I want to cancal the costco mastercard as they froze it for no reason given, Its fully paid off, never late. They want me to get t4s , mortgage information ,the works etc to the bank to verify my income . That I own my house, and this is to close my account. Im here to close it never to reopen it....Cibc is the worst bank to talk to ever, costco is losing more customers daily because of this bank just freezing cards.a formsl complaint is going to costcoto costco as I was told by one branch .they were not surprised.....
I have had nothing but issues with this…
I have had nothing but issues with this bank. There is absolutely no communication. They have held funds longer than anticipated without letting me know. They restricted my account without warning, therefore bouncing my payments, not allowing money into my account. Customer service at the call centre was unable to help me. I went into the branch as advised, then was told they have to wait for the branch manager to come help me but he was no where to be found. How can only 1 person be able to help but never there to help the customer?
Horrendous customer service
Horrendous customer service. Trying to cancel a credit card, which requires calling customer support. I've been on hold for 75 minutes already and occasionally hear an automated message suggesting that i try self-serve options, which do not exist for cancelling a credit card. For something so simple, this is infuriating. Why can't I cancel the credit card online?
