Credit card itself is not bad but CIBC have employed the worst representatives ever. Either they are not trained properly or they deliberately mislead customers. Their one rep issued my wife a credit card saying it is secondary card to your husband account but it was not. Then they did not send the first month bill and we thought it is secondary to husband so it is included in my statement but again we were wrong. But they sent the second statement with previous not paid. It was shocking, talked to CIBC and told them everything on which they said they apologize and can’t do nothing!!!!!! It is already reported to credit agencies!!! Now we have to pay for their mistake and dishonesty. Worst deal ever. I wish there were negative reviews.

One of my poorest interactions ever
One of my poorest interactions ever. Not only are they rude, but they love to hangup on you and send you in a wild goose chase with multiple transfers yet completely unhelpful. Won't bank here any more. I am thinking about switching. Horrible horrible experience.
Trying to reach the trainyards branch…no one returned call impossible to reach anyone and no return calls
Trying to reach the trainyards branch left messages with team leader will not mention name and the 0 line for the last 2 days no return call. Call head office they don't contact branch for you
CIBC verification a waste of time
I applied for visa online. They use Interac's verification solutions to verify ID. Once I was approved they mailed me the card.i was told I just had to activate the card online by logging in. When tried to activate it a error message came up. It said to call customer service ph#... Speaking to them ,they requesting I come into the branch in person. This is the entire reason I applied online. My work hours make going into a branch impossible. I made this clear to the agents I spoke to on phone during application process . They confirmed they can verify ID's via Interac services. Now after running the hard credit check on my name and waiting a month for the card to finally arrive, it's "sorry we won't activate card till you come into a branch". Like Wtf. I can't even believe the stupidity of this request. They offer DIGITAL ID VERIFICATION right on their main CIBC website PAGE. Stating that its even safer then traditional Methods. Great ,so is this some kind of Joke? Sending in my documents, the back n forth calls for what? waiting 4 weeks for the card? Waste of time so far with this bank. Case manager is doing a so called "investigation". Won't hold my breath on that. Security department are some of the rudest n most ignorant people on earth. Everyone of them sounds like their in Nigeria. If you want to waste your time and get zero gain in return, then CIBC Is the bank for you!

Words can't describe how terrible the service was. An agent told me that the money in the bank account is the companies and I should be thankful I deal with them. I put a check in my account by online I will not ever do that again. They told me that the check was fraud and I need to talk to the branch. Don't deal with with bank go to a different bank. That was my biggest mistake and I am learning the hard way.
Scraping the bottom of the bin
This institution is really in my observations of the last five years. I started dealing with CIBC in 15 years ago with a joint account. The bank seemed like a completely different institution at that time. Reading some of these stories on trustpilot.com I see I have not even experienced the worst of CIBC. My issues stem from nickel and diming, putting through visa debits when I have not signed up for overdraft protection, Relatively minor things. But when you call the disputes department a manager answers and says, "what do you want" " What do you think we can do for you." This is fairly telling that the bank does care what their customers bring to their bank or having a future with those customers they see you as disposable and easily replaceable. CIBC is one of the worst of Big 5 not the worst but still really bad, getting worse and worse. Sometimes calling the frontline staff actually gets a better result than a response from disgruntled entitled snarky overzealous managers In need of an attitude adjustment. I strongly believe a lot of CIBC employees have never worked substantially outside of the financial industry. It's interesting to take a look at the CV of former CNBC employees to verify that beforehand few had Canadian experience.
CIBC is the absolute worst company
All we had was the Costco/CIBC mastercard. Since CIBC took over from Capital One, it has been a nightmare. 0 for 4 attempts to get an address changed. 0 for 3 to get the new card sent out after old ones expired. We found out that CIBC was paying their customer service reps to lie to us while at the same time apologizing for their incompetence. Cancelled all things CIBC today, and forever. The absolute worst company I have ever dealt with in my life.

This bank is simply the most useless thing on the face of the earth. From the staf to the app and products they have. The staff are not knowledgeable to say the least. If you value peace of mind, then this thing called CIBC is not for you. I regret getting a car loan with this bank.
I went to our nearest CIBC bank…
I went to our nearest CIBC bank (Parsons Rd, Edmonton,AB) and the bank teller Annurude is very professional, courteous abd friendly. He even call the 1800 number to make sure my concern is to be solved.
Poor management in CIBC
I opened my first account with CIBC in the 2000s. Since then, I have had multiple problems with customer service.
When I was a student, I discovered that I had been charged extra fees despite my student status. When I was buying my first house, CIBC offered me the worst rate. I still remember how an agent tried to convince me that it was “not a big difference” to pay more. She was talking about my money, after all.
Finally, there was my child’s RESP account, which was not managed properly. As a result, I finally decided to leave this bank.
Over the years, I have seen a clear decline in the quality of service. I cannot speak about every CIBC location, and I understand that many clerks are simply doing their job. However, in my experience, the communication and senior-level management have been very poor.

Extremely disappointed with my experience with CIBC regarding my mortgage. After more than 4 years of payments, I discovered the bank had been charging me for property tax even though I was already paying the property tax myself directly.
When I contacted them, I explained that this extra money could have gone toward my mortgage principal, which would have reduced my interest costs over time. Instead, they told me they would only refund the property tax amount.
I feel this situation should have been identified much earlier, and the impact on my mortgage interest was not properly considered. Very frustrating experience and poor communication from the bank.
Terrible Customer Sercice
Just wasted over 1 hour speaking with 2 under trained call center representatives who really couldn’t care less about solving a simple issue of a password reset. Both refused to listen and just read their scripts while continually talking over me.
It’s sad that one of Canada’s big banks is dropping the ball on properly training their representatives
I called cibc credit card customer…
I called cibc credit card customer service to transfer the balance from other credit card .because cibc sent me offer of 0% interest. after being on hold for almost half an hour back and forth I was told that they cannot do the balance transfer because cibc has send me a new credit card although my existing credit card was valid for 2 more months. They send you the offer but do not honour those offers. sounded like the call centre was located in some asian country. Its a shame that after making record profits banks are outsourcing their call centres. while Canadians are hustling to find a job.
Niagara Falls Ontario Lundy's Lane…
Niagara Falls Ontario Lundy's Lane Branch
Approached by security when standing in line behind the next patron.
He pointed to the carpet and ordered me to stand in a particular spot
I got his ID
Larry a manager backed him up when I complained about this behavior
He talked to a 70 year old bank patron over 15 years eith CIBC
Talked with me like a child just as security guard did
I feel.that my rights as a Caucasian violated by the disrespect from this security guy
Long wait times for customer service…
Long wait times for customer service agent even for the small thing. Chat bot is the worst. In this era ai this chat bot seems like its from the stone age the way it responds.
With all this 1 star reviews its weird to see zero improvement from the one of the largest bank in the country.
MF = MASSIVE FAILURE
MF = MASSIVE FAILURE.
I am extremely upset with CIBC. I have been a client for almost 50 Years. I have a computer lease contract with TECH DATA CANADA, Their bank is BNS in Canada, and I cannot set up online bill payment. I physically went into my home branch (Kelowna) and was told that I WOULD HAVE TO PAY 30.00 TO TRANSFER FUNDS TO SCOTIABANK to pay. It is ludicrous that I am unable to set up auto debit. ONE STAR (1) IS TOO GENEROUS. i WOULD HAVE GIVEN THEM A ZERO. HATE MY BANK... ENOUGH SAID!
Undertrained
Some of the agents are too lazy to offer solutions and they just take the easy way out. There was one agent which I talked to but couldnt understand because of a thick accent and he was also raising his voice when I was telling him what had happened and take note he wasnt accomodating my quesrions, he was answering with his own questions back at me
CIBC Worse customer service
CIBC 7 has by far some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced.
Every time I call, I get transferred to another department, repeat the same story over and over, and still nothing gets resolved.
After ten phone calls and countless hours on hold, I still have no answers and no resolution to a problem that was caused by the bank in the first place.
No accountability, no communication, and no sense of urgency from anyone involved.
Customers should not have to chase a bank for basic support while being bounced around endlessly. Extremely frustrating and disappointing experience.
