Many people expressed significant concern about unsolicited letters offering car finance compensation, questioning how their personal details were obtained for agreements they never had. Customers frequently viewed these communications as suspicious. Reviewers also found the company's website problematic or non-existent, advising against scanning QR codes or providing personal information. Scammers

Scammers. Unsure how they got my name and address but I’ve never had a car, let alone car finance. If anyone receiving this letter is tempted to contact them in the hopes of getting money back please go to a reputable site such as money saving expert instead.

Using old data to scam people

It is a scam, despite being a genuine company. Letter received at an address i haven’t lived at for 30 years, in my maiden name, claiming I was eligible for compensation. I’ve had many car finance agreements, a small number in my maiden name but never registered to the address that the letter was sent to. A scam for sure, using very old data. Chuck it in the bin.

SCAMMERS

SCAMMERS! Beware!

Got a letter today, march, with a letter dated December, stating they think I am eligible for compensation from car finance.

I have never had a car on finance in my life.

This company seems to be fraudulent and a scam.

The FCA warned about companies like this.

Just received a brown envelope this…

Just received a brown envelope this morning, with the heading you could be owned compensation. True to the fact the first thing I thought was, I’ve never taken out car finance in my life. So the alarm bells was ringing straight away. This bought me to an easy decision. Torn and straight in the bin. Be aware people things that may appear to good and easy might be your greatest down fall. Take care all.

What a load of tosh!

What a load of tosh! Don't be fooled it's a scam!
- Brown envelope, suggesting an official letter...
- The letters layout very similar to HMRC letter layout.
- Suggestion in the letter that they work in cooperation with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
Letter content inviting to register on their website to check the eligibility for the money back from historic car finance.

Put letter in the shredder

Obvious scam. I have only ever bought a car with full payment; never used finance; so I knew at once the letter I received today was a 'cold call' if not worse.
It looks very plausible though!
Unfortunately there may be others out there who might be duped. Beware!
The other reviews here speak volumes...

Scam - throw it in the bin!

Scam!

They sent me a letter through the post saying that their records indicate that I may be due compensation on a previous car finance agreement. Unfortunately for them, I don’t have a previous car finance agreement so knew immediately it was a scam.

Probably not a scam

This post is really just to correct previous inaccurate posts and is not a comment on the Check Finance services. The company has existed since 2018 and is registered as Claim Simple Ltd. This information is given on the letter they send out. Why don't people look, it's not difficult to find. Consequently I doubt it's a scam - people should do their research before crying foul. Whether or not the company is any good is a different matter.
