I Actually Believed In Their Image At First
I used to feel like I was making a positive difference with everything I did , even my phone company, when I signed up. However, hindsight being 20/20, this company EXPLOITS Catholic and/or ProLife values.
I strongly suggest you calculate the cost for what you will get with their plans, then compare it to other companies and figure the difference in price, THEN calculate the 5% of your bill that would go to help people, and compare the difference.
Be aware also that the "We don't give any money to abortion" claim is absurd, since they do not have their own towers; they rent the wherewithal for their services from Verizon, which does support abortion and funds ways for their employees to leave states that have bans in place to kill their children in other states.
I suggest instead: Pick a charity, pick a different phone company and send the difference you saved to the charity every month at the same time your bill is due, and you will help a lot more people and save a lot more lives.
Furthermore, Charity mobile conducts unethical business practice by trying to trap people into using their services once you start. They have a rolling list of numbers they basically own, so you cannot bring your number with you if you go once you are signed up with them. AND the phones you get from them can never be unlocked, ever. I lost access to both my phone and my number when I had to switch due to economic hardship. I found my Charity mobile phone was permanently locked to them and could never be unlocked. Verizon tried everything to be able to fix it, and could not.
My new company is powered by T-mobile and costs a little over half what Charity did, for 5x the data my Charity Mobile plan offered. They keep prices low by doing everything online and not having any buildings or stores to pay for and take care of.
Charity Mobile does not have any stores either, yet their service costs more than companies who do have buildings to pay for, and the extra $ is not going to actual charities.
Because I had all my identity verification tied to a Charity mobile number and phone for a few years,
I lost access to accounts that do not have a way to handle losing access to both your device and your number - including some credit report related things and cloud storage with my portfolio in it - when I could not afford it anymore. You will lose access to both the device and the number if you can no longer afford "Charity" mobile's inflated prices; it causes security issues if cybersecurity setups accommodate that situation, so more and more of them do not. In this day and age that causes serious problems with verifying identity for basically everything.
If you get a phone with this company and set all your Identity verification to it like one must these days, you trap yourself into doing business with an exploitative company because your number cannot follow you when you go and your device will not work with anyone else, the higher price is not going to help people but only to line their pockets.
This is dishonest, uncharitable, greedy, unChrist-like and highly unethical. At first, I liked all the Catholic branding and it made me feel like I was supporting my tribe, so to speak, by being with this company. It made enough EMOTIONAL difference for me to keep paying more. But, now I am offended by it because I see the dishonesty.
"Charity" mobile is a misnomer of biblical proportions.
Stay FAR away!
