"False Prices" Avoid this company at all costs
"Avoid this company at all costs! My experience with them has been a nightmare, and I feel obligated to warn others about their deceptive practices."
This was my first time using this company, and it will certainly be my last. If they don’t resolve my issue by switching me to a better plan, I’ll ensure my review is posted on every customer satisfaction site I can find. Why? Because this company is nothing but a scam.
Every year, I use Powertochoose.org to find the best electricity rates, and usually, the advertised price matches what I end up paying. However, this company completely misled me. They advertised a rate of 13 cents per kWh, but unlike other companies that include transportation and additional charges in their rates, this one played a sneaky game by excluding those costs and offering “free energy at night.” It sounded too good to be true—and it was.
From my very first bill, I realized I was being taken advantage of. It was nearly double what I paid with my previous provider, and every month since then has been the same. The actual rate I’m paying is closer to 20 cents per kWh, far from the 13 cents they advertised.
To put this into perspective: my electricity bills used to range from $150 to $230, with a rare maximum of $310 over 20 years. But with Chariot Energy, my first bill was a staggering $580, and the lowest has been $414.
