Cumberland Electric Membership Cooperative Placing Citizens in Imminent Danger
During the midst of a hard freeze in these hills (trapped now for seven days) I was talking with the TVA-service-area power provider in my localized area. That's Cumberland Electric Membership Cooperative -- cemc.org. It's usually below freezing during the days here and well below freezing overnight here. Landscape coated with thick ice. I asked the representative, offhandedly, what would be done for someone needing assistance with their power bill or not able to pay because LP gas usage for heating etc is massive. Fourteen days past due and you are disconnected -- no exceptions, no excuses. If that was done, say to my closest neighbors (I have generators) about 300 yards away, the two ladies there would be in trouble within hours AND UNABLE TO EVACUATE. Nobody has come or gone where I am at for seven days as of today. Maybe a few with radical 4-wheel-drive trucks can get on the roads but I haven't seen any. Frozen all over. None of us in the area could evacuate. Many don't have generators and leaving is not an option. I would not like to see Cumberland Electric Membership Cooperative place someone in danger in that manner, but if it happens and I find out Cumberland Electric Membership Cooperative and I are going to have a very severe Legal disagreement -- and it will cost them a lot of money. I couldn't believe what I was hearing the CSR say because again today below freezing all day and overnight. I would keep a close eye on Cumberland Electric Membership Cooperative...
