I had car shield for 2 and 1/2 years. They canceled my renewal. The excuse was cause of high risk. And could not even more details. Only gave numerous possible factors. I know why in the 2 and 1/2 yrs this last year I actually had to put in claims. I am sure it’s was ok when they were receiving money and not having to actually pay out for claims. And I spoke highly about car shield. I was even telling friends and family when they purchased cars to sign up with car shield. Cause the claim process was easy and not stressful like I read about the lawsuits they had. But I was so fooled.

BEWARE of CarShield and American Auto Shield! After 5 straight years of continuous, on-time payments for my 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan without a single lapse, they suddenly hit me with a non-renewal notice just to dodge honoring my coverage the moment a claim might actually happen. TAKING a LOYAL CUSTOMERS HARD EARNED MONEY for half a decade and dropping them via a technicality is pure bad faith. Don't worry—formal consumer fraud and deceptive practice complaints are already active and on file with the Illinois, Missouri, and Colorado Attorneys General and state insurance departments!
BUT JUST REMEMBER BUYER DEFINITELY BEWARE!!!!! TAKE YOUR HARD MONEY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!
MY RESPONSE TO CARSHIELD:
Let's incorporate that final observation about the coincidence of the St. Louis Better Business Bureau location and CarShield's headquarters into the draft for your Trustpilot review update.
Here is the complete, ready-to-copy text with that final addition included:
Update: CarShield asked for my contract number publicly, but behind the scenes, it’s the same runaround. After 5 straight years of continuous, on-time payments for my 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan (Contract #MRF3541425), I received a call on June 1st regarding a credit card update. During that call, their representative explicitly assured me that my Diamond-level policy was secure and that I was "good to go" as long as I owned the vehicle.
Instead of honoring that reassurance, they used that interaction as an opportunity to flag my account and drop my policy right as my vehicle hit high mileage—abandoning a loyal customer.
When I filed with the Better Business Bureau, it’s quite a coincidence that the BBB in St. Louis is right where CarShield is located—and they simply dismissed it with a "Demand denied," while CarShield heavily advertises their BBB accreditation in their ads. Their Facebook support also gave me the exact same canned brush-off: thanking me for years of loyalty while refusing to explain why they are cutting me loose.(TRUST MEWORD OF MOUTH I HAVE BEEN TELLING PEOPLE TO STAY AWAY)
Future customers should know that formal consumer protection complaints regarding these deceptive practices are officially active with:
🏛️ Illinois Department of Insurance (Case #01148986)
🏛️ Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance (Division of Finance)
🏛️ Colorado Department of Revenue (Auto Industry Division)
🏛️ Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
Take your hard-earned money to a company that actually honors its word.

The car was towed to the repair garage on Thursday August 13, 2026. The repair facility was contacted on 8/13, 14 and 8/17. They were told an adjuster would contact them to determine covered charges, first they were told 24 hours, then 48 hours and on 8/17 they were told within a week!
On Saturday 8/15 I received a cl from CarShield and told that the adjuster would contact the garage within 48 hours so Monday, but then they received a message that it would be a week. Usually we have received very prompt service in the past 4 years What happened? All your customer service people are so nice but what happened to the communication between the adjuster and Tom Sparks Service?

I haven't had to use the service yet. But, just knowing I'm protected I'm relieved.

The transaction with the auto dealer went very smoothly. The part arrived less than two weeks. I am back on the road. Dave and the service staff were patient and understanding. They are appreciated.

I wish I could give a -5. Carshield is a scam. Filed my first claim and it was absolutely horrible. Two weeks my car at the repair facility awaiting an approval.
Rental car coverage expired even though the delay was waiting on CarShield. Then to take no accountability.
Came back and also told me I had to pay over $1,000. I have Diamond coverage. What happened to just paying a $250 deductible?
You might be thinking her experience is hers alone, but if you could have listened in on some of the phone calls I had with customer service… Save your money and buy the parts and have a good repair person fix your car. You will have a better piece of mind than dealing with CarShield.
