I just completed a one star review on…

I just completed a one star review on don't buy cars from them. I now received the usual reply from car planet saying they want to look into the issue. They want all my details but I have my payment back after a month of many correspondence. If you do not reply with your details your review is taken down. So I was wondering where all the one star reviews went. Maybe it needs a better system so that the reviews are not taken down.

We feel this review is extremely misleading, and we would like to clarify the position firmly.

Our Support Team’s aim is always to assist customers and investigate concerns wherever possible. When we ask a reviewer to provide their details, it is not to remove or suppress a review. It is simply because we need sufficient information to identify the customer and locate the relevant vehicle and correspondence on our internal systems.

In this instance, the name displayed on your review is “London”, and we have no customer record under that name that allows us to identify your purchase. We therefore requested your vehicle registration and contact details so that we could establish which vehicle and case you are referring to.

We also strongly disagree with the suggestion that Car Planet removes one-star reviews because customers do not provide their details. We do not have the ability to remove customer reviews simply because they are negative. Our responses are intended to provide an opportunity for customers to contact us so that we can investigate their concerns and, where possible, assist them.

You have also been asked for your details in response to your other review, but we have still not received the information required for us to identify you or your vehicle. Without this information, it is extremely difficult for us to investigate your claims or provide any meaningful assistance.

We fully respect a customer's right to share their experience, whether positive or negative. However, we believe it is important that the suggestion that we deliberately remove negative reviews is not presented as fact when this is not the case.

Kind regards,

Car Planet

RIYAN

I had a very positive experience dealing with Riyan at Car Planet.

He was professional, courteous and patient throughout the process, answering all my questions clearly and helping me reserve the vehicle with confidence. As I wanted to arrange an independent pre-purchase inspection, Riyan was also very helpful in explaining how the process worked and was open and accommodating throughout our discussions.

Buying a used car is an important decision, and I really appreciated his honest, straightforward and professional approach. Based on my experience so far, I would be happy to recommend Riyan to anyone looking for knowledgeable and customer-focused service.

would strongly advise anyone…

would strongly advise anyone considering buying a car from Car Planet to think twice.

What should have been an exciting day turned into one of the most frustrating customer experiences I’ve ever had.

It took 7 hours and 20 minutes to complete the purchase of one car. The majority of that time was spent sitting around waiting, with very little communication from staff. We were constantly told, “It’ll just be two minutes,” only to be left waiting 20–30 minutes at a time. If you’re busy, be honest with your customers rather than repeatedly giving unrealistic timeframes.

To make matters worse, we had two children with us who became increasingly tired, bored and hungry after spending over seven hours waiting. There was very little consideration shown for the fact that we were a family who had already been there all day.

They also managed to take the wrong registration number for our part exchange, causing yet more unnecessary delays.

Despite repeatedly telling them no, we were asked four separate times if we wanted to purchase an extended warranty. Once we’d declined, our decision should have been respected instead of us being repeatedly pressured to buy additional products.

We were promised the car would receive a full valet before collection. What we received was nowhere near a full valet. The car looked as though it had only been given a quick wipe over and certainly wasn’t presented to the standard you’d expect when spending thousands of pounds on a vehicle.

The most concerning part was discovering that the panoramic roof was ripped. What’s even worse is that the dealership didn’t find this themselves—I only discovered it because I asked for the roof to be closed before we left. This should have been identified during the inspection and preparation of the vehicle. Had I not asked, I could easily have driven away with a damaged roof.

Their proposed solution has been equally disappointing. We’ve been asked to return on 15 August, which means a two-hour round trip at our own expense in fuel and time to fix a problem that should never have existed in the first place.

The dealership is also in the middle of nowhere, and we’ve been told they may not be able to provide a courtesy car. If that’s the case, we’ll be left waiting there for several hours while the repair is carried out. It feels unfair that we’re expected to lose more time and spend more money to correct an issue that should have been identified before the car was handed over.

The level of customer service throughout has been extremely poor. Delays, poor communication, repeated sales pressure, inadequate vehicle preparation and a complete lack of customer care have left us feeling incredibly disappointed.

Buying a car should be an exciting and enjoyable experience. Instead, ours was stressful, exhausting and unacceptable. Spending over seven hours at a dealership, with two tired and hungry children, only to leave with a car that hadn’t been properly checked or prepared, and then being expected to spend more of our own time and money to correct the dealership’s mistake, is simply not the level of service anyone should expect.

Based on our experience, I would not recommend Car Planet.

Stay far away from Car Planet!

Car Planet (CP) wasted no time taking our money, but the aftersales team is abysmal. 40 emails, 2 inspections and 26 hours on hold or on the phone, they finally conceded and refunded us for the car they sold in a dangerous condition.

I bought a car in Feb, and just 2 months later, the clutch pedal stayed down. Luckily I had just come OFF the motorway when it happened, or it could have been a lot worse. AA found the clutch pedal had been 'secured' at the top by a single zip tie. The cap that should have been there was missing, and someone had done a dodgy botch job.

At first, CP responded quickly and said they would repair it if we returned the car. This was not an option due to the dealer being in Barnet and us being in Maidstone, and AA told us the car was not safe to drive for long periods. Eventually CP hired a local garage to complete the work mid-May. The garage's inspection, however, revealed a whole host of other problems, most notably the clutch was in serious need of replacement.

We gave CP this new information and they suddenly became cagey and flaky about their responsibility for the issues, stating it was a 'grey area' and just 'wear and tear'. They did at least agree to collect the car and run their own checks. We sent the reports from the other garage and waited.

CP finally collected the car on late May bank hol, and a week passed with no word, so we started chasing. For the first week of June, we were phoning daily, chasing emails and reports they promised we'd have by the end of the day each time. Then we were given conflicting information.

First CP told us a whole new clutch set had been fitted; then an email said only the hydraulics had been bled. No explanation or apology for this blatant contradiction, but the hydraulics job was confirmed. When asked why they hadn't replaced the clutch set, they said they felt it wasn't necessary as the clutch 'looked new'.

Eventually CP arranged to return the car on 5th June. By the afternoon there was still no sign of them. We phoned and were told that the recovery truck had broken down. The options we had were to collect the car ourselves - again in Barnet - which we refused; have one of their drivers bring it to us; or wait for the truck to be repaired. When told the driver availability and the truck repair would both be next Monday at the earliest, we requested the truck to not run up the mileage. CP disregarded this request and had a driver bring it on the Tuesday.

Due to lack of faith in CP's assurance that the car was roadworthy - given it had been sold to me in an unsafe condition - we took it straight to our local garage (not the one CP had hired). Within an hour, they highlighted the exact same problems, and confirmed the clutch was still badly worn and would go in the immediate future. They also said the front brake pads were worn beyond the min. safe condition.

We were straight on the phone to CP, fed up with this nonsense, to reject the vehicle and request a refund under the Consumer Rights Act and citing the Motor Ombudsman. CP's attitude to the situation remained it was just 'wear and tear', insinuating it was because of the way the car had been driven and 'a clutch could wear down that much after 1 mile' - for reference, the mileage was only approx. 25k and a clutch should last at least 50k. CP doubled down that it was safe when they sold it, but had no comeback when we reminded them of the zip tie. The zip tie meant 1 of 3 things

1) Someone else had put the zip tie on, and CP didn't find it during their inspections - meaning their inspections are worth nothing.
2) CP did find the zip tie and did nothing to fix it.
3) CP were the ones who put the zip tie on.

Gross incompetence or reckless endangerment. Of course CP refused to own up to either.

CP insisted yet again we bring it back for inspection, even though they had just done one 3 days ago. When we refused and reiterated the car was not safe to drive, never mind on the M25, they begrudgingly said they would send a truck. Again, collection day comes and goes with no sign, and when we call the next morning we are told the driver quit unexpectedly.

Eventually the car gets collected and after a proper inspection, CP were finally forced to admit the clutch was beyond repair. They again tried to offer to replace it and return the car, but we refused and pushed for the refund.

The manager gave us her personal number and at least tried to resolve the issue, a welcome change from the intransigence we had been up against, but there were still empty promises of 'it will be done by the end of the day'. It took until 10th Jul before we finally got our money back - nearly 2.5 months of battling, while still paying tax and insurance for an unusable car.

CP had several chances to solve this and failed to every time. Do not go near CP - their only interest is taking your money. They do not care about their customers' safety at all!

Lack of Transparency and Long Wait Slow Service

I purchased a Mazda3 from Car Planet in July 2026. While the vehicle price itself was very competitive, I quickly realized how they manage to offer such low rates: they completely cut out all standard warranties. They provide zero warranty coverage—not even a basic 3-month guarantee. You will need to pay extra for basic warranty.

As expected with many dealerships, there was a heavy push for add-on products. What bothered me most, however, was their lack of transparency. They attempted to hide these extra purchases directly inside my finance plan to make them less noticeable, telling only half the story until I caught it myself. I would have appreciated far more honesty and upfront communication regarding these add-ons.

Additionally, the customer service and overall process were very slow. Despite the dealership not being busy, I spent several hours there—the vast majority of which was spent just sitting and waiting due to a clear lack of attentive staff. Once the reception desk closed, I was left completely unattended and had to walk into the sales office myself to find someone to help wrap things up.

Overall, while the vehicle price was good, the poor transparency and sluggish customer service made for a frustrating experience.

We are sorry to hear that you did not have the five-star experience we aim to provide and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

We would, however, like to clarify that some of the information mentioned in your review is not correct. Customers are not left without protection, as every customer has their statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. In addition, complimentary RAC packages may be available to customers upon request, depending on the circumstances.

We are also sorry to hear that you felt the sales process was not sufficiently transparent and that you experienced delays during your visit. We take these concerns seriously and will review the feedback internally to help improve the customer experience.

Our aim is always to provide customers with a positive and transparent experience from the point of purchase onwards, and we are sorry that this was not your experience on this occasion.

Kind regards,

Ahmad dealt with me he was a pleasure to deal with, he explained the RAC Service plan.
This man is a credit to the company. He should be promoted. He looked after me. Nothing was too much for him. He explained that my earcon filter was changed. The oil leak was sorted. Unfortunately, haven't been able to drive the car since as I've broken my foot. But once I'm on the road again, I will check it out and get back to you. But in the meantime, I must say Ahmad was the best and handled everything professionally.
This man is a credit to the company.

I rarely leave negative reviews

I rarely leave negative reviews, but unfortunately my experience with Car Planet has been extremely disappointing.

I purchased a 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class for approximately £18,000, expecting a vehicle of good quality from a dealership. Unfortunately, within a short period of ownership I began experiencing multiple issues, including:

• Intermittent air conditioning not working correctly.
• Squeaking/noise when braking and accelerating.
• Faulty parking sensors.
• TPMS warning light.
• Stop-start system not functioning correctly.

I reported these faults promptly and expected them to be dealt with professionally. Instead, I found myself being passed between the dealership, warranty provider and repair garage. There were delays over diagnostic costs, poor communication and a lack of ownership of the issues.

My vehicle has now been off the road for around a month in total whilst repairs are being investigated and carried out. During this time I have continued making my monthly finance payments despite not having use of the vehicle, and I have not been provided with a courtesy car. The most frustrating part has been the lack of communication. I have had to chase the dealership repeatedly for updates, often without receiving any meaningful information.

I have also raised concerns regarding how the warranty, service plan and additional products were presented during the sales process, and this matter is now the subject of a formal complaint with my finance company for investigation.

That said, I do want to recognise one member of staff who genuinely stood out.

Ziyad Joyran has been the only person who has consistently tried to help. He has listened to my concerns, kept in contact where possible and has gone out of his way to ensure my vehicle issues are being addressed to the best possible standard. This review is not a reflection of his efforts. In fact, if it were based solely on my interactions with Ziyad, it would be far more positive.

My disappointment lies with the overall customer service, communication and the way my case has been handled as a whole. I genuinely hope Car Planet uses this feedback to improve its after-sales service so that other customers do not have a similar experience.

The sales rep I met (Adil) was very good. He arranged for the test drive, went through the specs of the value, and confirmed the vehicle history.
Adil was not pushy with trying to offer me finance or warranty cover. He understood my requirements and respected them.
The only let down occurred after I had purchased the vehicle. The wait to finalise the paperwork was extremely long, hours in fact. I was one of many who were waiting around frustrated to receive the documentation and vehicle keys.
They didn't clean and valet the vehicle and the volume knob which was missing was not replaced either. However, I was assured I could return and receive a complimentary clean and valet, and the missing volume knob would be ordered and posted to me.
Overall, it was a decent experience and I would certainly recommend them, just bring food as the aftersales experience is extremely long.

Quite slow service

The receptionist was nice & although I hadn't booked an appointment once alloted one everything was so slow. Their cars are parked in multi storey type car park in no specific order it took ages for a car to be brought down for a test drive. I did suggest that wouldn't it be easier to store them by manufactors name.I arrived next day to collect car at 11am after receiving a call at 9.35 to say it was ready, receptionist took us through to waiting area, still waiting at 11.45, had to ask someone for attention. I asked 3 people for 1 thing to be placed in the car from a cheaper version and was completely ignored, no goodwill. Also all transaction have to be made using mobile banking made it difficult when you don't have that facility. Have to say of both visit we both left feeling very drained.

Tried to reduce the agreed price using questionable engine claims

I sold my 2023 BMW 1 Series M Sport through Carwow after accepting Car Planet's winning bid.

The experience was disappointing from the outset. I was promised a call or text confirming the inspection time, but nothing arrived despite me chasing several times.

During the inspection, the assessor claimed my 3-cylinder engine was shaking excessively, misfiring and "didn't sound right", before attempting to reduce the agreed purchase price by £1,500.

I completely disagreed. The car had been inspected and serviced by BMW less than two weeks earlier, with no concerns raised, and I subsequently sold it directly to BMW for virtually the same value originally agreed.

Afterwards, I found another recent Trustpilot review describing an almost identical experience involving claims about the normal characteristics of a 3-cylinder engine being used to justify a large price reduction. While I can't say whether the cases are connected, the similarities were concerning enough for me to raise a formal complaint with both Car Planet and Carwow.

Based on my experience, I would advise anyone selling a vehicle to Car Planet to be cautious and, if possible, obtain an independent valuation beforehand.
