I’ve used CallRail for a few months and genuinely tried to give them a chance, but the billing model is ridiculous. My “$50 Starter Plan” turned into nearly $200 a month once I realized every minute over 250 was billed at several cents per minute — and they don’t warn you when you’re about to exceed your limit.
The company hides behind rigid plans, no flexibility, and no modern features. You’re paying premium rates for basic call recording with no AI assistance, no text-back automation, and no real customization. Their competitors offer unlimited minutes and better tools for a third of the cost.
I reached out to billing support to resolve the overcharges and was told there’s nothing they can do — not even a one-time fix. It’s clear they care more about squeezing extra usage fees than keeping customers long-term.
Save yourself the headache and go with RingCentral, OpenPhone, or JustCall — all offer unlimited calling, cleaner dashboards, and transparent pricing.

We needed to set up a new CallRail account separate from our web developer's, and the process couldn’t have been smoother. My CallRail rep handled everything from start to finish — all I had to do was explain what we needed, and he took care of the rest, keeping me informed every step of the way.
The CallRail support team was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. On top of that, my rep reviewed our account and gave thoughtful feedback on what services we actually needed, helping us cut unnecessary costs. Excellent service all around!
After 2.5 years, would not recommend
We’ve used this software consistently since 2022, primarily for tracking numbers and as a VOIP-based call center solution.
Pros
- Generally reliable call quality
- Minimal dropped calls
- Our smaller franchisees find it easy to use
Cons
- Extremely poor customer service: Response times are painfully
slow. You always start at tier 1 support, which often lacks the ability to resolve anything and must escalate—slowing everything down. It’s been a consistently frustrating experience and the primary reason we’re moving away from this platform. Unfortunately, the support experience hasn’t improved since we first onboarded.
- Limited call center functionality: The call center features feel like an afterthought—more of a revenue add-on than a fully built solution. It’s simply not scalable for larger teams. You’ll miss out on critical data and insights. After switching to a provider that specializes in call center solutions, we’ve seen a dramatic improvement in user experience and our ability to identify and solve issues efficiently.

Useless Support
Its been nearly 30 days and call rail is not reporting conversions into my GA account, they escalated me to tier 2 support who doesn't respond to emails.

Can not cancel
Can not cancel. After months we thought was canceled but they hit us with 500 again. Will not send confirmation its canceled. Was told we will not get a refund. Just strong arm tactics of "AWW lets talk about it. We can give you a better deal..." then email start again. We haven't heard back from you about our new deals. Stalling, stalling, stalling Spaming inbox, charges , wont cancel. Let me put it this way. When it goes wrong Your screwed....

DON'T SUBSCRIBE TO THEIR SERVICE! THEIR SYSTEM SUCKS! ALWAYS HAVING SYSTEM ISSUES.
