How this company uses Trustpilot
See how their reviews and ratings are sourced, scored, and moderated.
Keeps you sitting there for 5 minutes while it loads. Then says it can only send the results if you give your email... after you reluctantly do that it goes straight to "we also need your credit card info" page.

Absolute Fraud.
I signed up for a one time report and avoided the option to get multiple reports a month, since i only needed one Report.
They unknowingly and without approval or knowledge attached a digital wallet to my Credit card and started taking out 24.99 a month, 3 times the cost of one report.
When i was informed a digital wallet had been attached, i had it disconnected and got a new credit card. Somehow even with a new card with new numbers and a new security code, they were able to continue billing my card for months before i caught them.
ON top of all that, the actual report i got was terrible, it tells you more about what the vehicles maintenance scheduled is, then what was actually done on our car, Car fax is 10 times more informative and they don't resort to Fraudulent business practices
The phone number they supply has no option to speak with a person.

Horrible experience..didn't give solid information

What a joke, ordered 1 report for $5 yet continue to get charged monthly nearly $30. Reach out to them they claim I have no account, which I don't, yet care less that I'm being charged and have to constantly file a dispute with my credit card each month

Good day. You charged $27.99 from my card on 09/01/2025. Why? I did not subscribe to any of your services. Please cancel and refund my money.

I have never been on this sight before this; got a fraudulent 30$ charge from it. Came to talk to support and they just led me on and told me to wait 48 hours for an email from there support after I just got done talking to them for 30ish minutes. Sketchy website overall; went through my emails and never once had an email from “bumper.com” and can prove it. Shady website, shady practice, shady business.

Sad I have to give them one star. Bumper should be ashamed of themselves for sneaking money out of peoples accounts. Scam. You can write back all of you apologetic bullshit about "You paid one dollar blah blah blah" but your business model is criminal and you know it.

Cancelling subscriptions on this app is more complicated than necessary just like all VIN websites especially those that claim to be "free". To cancel this, go into your account, scroll down to "Edit Account Information", then click "Cancel My Account". To prevent future charges on your card from other websites that have had your card information sold to them, lock the card used for the Bumper subscription for one month. After that, either unlock the card or get an entirely new one. This website asks for too much information when all I am requesting is a VIN check. If I am looking at a car, I want the information about the car. I don't want to give MY personal information when that has nothing to do with the car. In addition, the information on this website is either information that you can figure out just by looking at the car and therefore not worth a VIN check, or just straight up inaccurate. I have tested their information on different accounts at different levels of subscriptions. On one of my accounts, I decided to look up my personal vehicle. I bought it brand new over 20 years ago, I am still it's only owner, and I have 0 accident history on it. Bumper claimed it had 3 owners as did VinSeeker. What a joke. I also looked up a salvage vehicle that I know was salvaged because my friend salvaged it himself. Bumper listed it as a clean title. Overall, the website isn't bad, but since you get multiple VIN checks as part of the subscription, use it on your own vehicle and see what information comes out of it. Then decide whether or not you want to trust it.

The experience was good to locate vehicles by VIN # and it was easy and clear.

I visited Bumper to use a promoted service to check car info for $1. At no point did I consent to enroll in a monthly subscription service for $27.99. Bumper then proceeded to not only charge my card the $1 without clear terms, but also—without my knowledge or consent—retained my payment details to enroll me in a costly recurring subscription plan I never agreed to.
This practice is a blatant violation of the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) Negative Option Rule and other statutes prohibiting unfair and deceptive acts. You are legally required to obtain express, informed consent for a recurring subscription, which you categorically failed to do.
This is not a simple billing error; it is a pattern of fraudulent enrollment that numerous other users have reported.

did not notice automatic billing at end of trial period. was charged for 3 months before noticing

No information was available to me with the VIN # provided but no direction on how to proceed was given, no attempt to get me the info I was requesting.

I was signed up for a subscription without my knowledge for 29.95 per month. After canceling they continue to charge my card using different company names so they can claim it is not them. However I only signed up for one VIN service throughout my car buying process so it’s impossible for anyone by Bumper to charge me.

Not only did the report not provide the details I was expecting, but they charged me on the first day of a free 7-day trial. I contacted them immediately to ask for a refund and they ignored me. It's false advertising to say your customer gets a trial but charge them anyway. Doesn't matter whether it's $1 or $100. Just be honest. Glad I didn't try the 2nd-level subscription, because the charge wouldn't have been nominal.

They are thief they rub your card info and start charging you.

Makes you wait five minutes to ask you for a email. Horrible service

I tried all things after payment its said invalid vin number which is actually that vin number is valid through nsw website.

Reply from Bumper
Impossible to cancel, and also pretends to do a "deep search" but just gives you basic information that you already know about. I try to unsubscribe/cancel but no luck at all I think they keep it this way so everyone can be charged extra money for a service that doesn't even work. I don't recommend using it.
