Broadbent & Co was set up in 1996 by Steven and Elizabeth Broadbent. Steve was the Chair of the National Network for Access Centres until 2013 and so very much involved in DSA developments at a national level. Their ethos was simple, the belief that "everyone must be seen and treated as an individual with their own individual needs. These needs must be identified in order for them to realise their own potential in education, employment and for life". In May 2018, Steve very sadly passed away. His son, Andrew, continues to follow in his footsteps and is the CEO of Broadbent Assist Ltd, Director alongside Elizabeth Broadbent, and he is also an active Needs Assessor.

Very helpful, informative, polite and understanding of my needs.
Really helpful and friendly service. Didn’t know what to expect but Ben put me at ease straight away. The assessment was about an hour and half long and we went through everything I have been struggling with and Ben came up with solutions, such as different software to support my studies. I feel more confident going forward with my studies now. Would definitely recommend Broadbent & Co. Thank you Ben.
Going for my DSA assessment initially was nerve-racking, however, booking an appointment was simple and easy. When it came to my needs assessment, I spoke to Megan over the phone. I was immediately put at ease and found her to be extremely friendly.
Throughout the whole process, the communication between the staff at Broadbent and me was clear, making everything easier. Since the assessment, the process of receiving the things needed has been efficient. It has put me at a little more ease with my studies knowing that I have been able to get this help.
My experience with Broadbent & Co was really good and Megan, who carried out my assessment was really lovely and helpful and when doing the assessment with her, she had taken her time going through it and didn’t for one second make me feel rushed.
The 1 on 1 talks were very easy to take part in and everyone was very welcoming, however, its taken a while for everything to take place, I am in need of these extras to help me with my work but the majority of my deadlines have been completed in the time its taken to sort everything out.
Was very helpful and didn't rush me. Went though everything Ans made me understand clearly and Said thought the course I can contact them with any questions.
I had an DSA assessment with Jon and he made sure the process was explained very well which made me feel better. He was very understanding and allowed me to ask any questions during and after the assessment.
Fantastic support of Ben
Made me feel at ease and explained the different support that was on offer to help me whilst I am studying at the University.
Communication was 100%
The assessor was brilliant and very friendly. I was feeling so ill with my condition and they were very professional and understanding.
I didn't feel judged or that I shouldn't be accessing the services (I have a bit of imposter syndrome which stopped me going for help sooner).
A really good experience and I'm so glad I chose yourselves to assess me.
Broadbent & Co have done everyone of my needs assessments since 2012. Andy is so friendly, understanding and really knows his stuff. He has lots of experience and genuinely cares about the needs of the people he meets. The staff at Broadbent & Co are amazing, nothing is too much for them if you need help, they’re quick and reliable when responding to emails or answering the phone. I cannot recommend this company enough.
I was initially skeptical as to whether or not I should get a DSA assessment, but I'm so glad I did.
My assessor was friendly and helpful, she took great care in ensuring I knew what help was available and may be useful to me. She listened to what I thought and adapted accordingly.
The solutions presented to me massively surpassed my expectations and have been so useful already.
The process was straightforward once student finance had approved my application. The staff at Broadbent were friendly and helpful from the get go and the assessor I spoke to was so lovely, explained everything to me clearly. She helped me understand the purpose of DSA. It levels the playing field. She also explained each option clearly so that I really felt I knew how it would help me study, and whether I needed it. Could not speak more highly of the company; my experience with Broadbent & Co was warm, reassuring and liberating. Thank you so much.
Zoe made me feel very confident an reassured me am not the only one suffering from disaibilty made me very relaxed an listened to me which has happened after a while because i dnt openly speak to much but bless her she wa the best really appericiate it thank u
Useful assessment. attentive and respectful assessor. attempted to put themselves in my shoes and provided me with the best support and strategies.
the examiner made me feel comfortable and safe, I did not feel very anxious and offered me some software that I could defiantly use and some a little less helpful. He was polite and always asked if anything was bothering me or if anything was unsuitable. The biggest issue was the organised appointment as I was only given an address and the appointment was in regus ltd not broardbent and co so I got lost and had to ring the company. This is the only real issue I had
My assessor was really helpful and friendly. I felt that all communications from Brodbent & Co were really clear and helpful too.
The assessment call itself was very relaxed and I felt that the caller was trying to understand my condition and how best to suggest support.

The assessment was a great experience. The assessor knew so much about my illness they were telling me things about myself i recognised but didnt know were part of my illness. It was so relaxed and she set me at such ease it was a pleasure. I cant thank them enough for making the experience stress free
