'Britelite windows' not that bright !
I entered into a contract for the supply of two upstairs windows with this organisation. A price - which was a moderate sum rather than budget was agreed, the deposit was paid and the survey subsequently completed. It is to be noted that the survey did not raise any variation to contract items of a structural nature at the time of the payment / contract signature or site visit .
I then received a communication from 'Britelites' sales official stating that the 'the fitter' (NOT the surveyor) had raised concerns about removal of the existing window glass units (which I repeat both the seller's representative and the surveyor had indicated would NOT be a problem). I thought it a reasonable conclusion to come to that the seller was angling to increase the agreed contract price.
I responded saying that I would arrange to remove the glass panels and would guarantee this for when 'the fitter' arrived. 'Britelite' accepted this.
A few days later I received another communication from their salesman saying that 'the fitter' was 'still unhappy' and was insisting that I agree a £500 penalty clause be added to the contract price. We had agreed a contracted price and so I of course declined to agree to pay a further £500 ! 'Britelite' subsequently refused to complete the job.
My lived experience with this organisation is of an attempt to try and bill extra-contractual sums, not agreed at the time of signing, - on the very flimsiest of pretexts. In addition to delaying the return of my deposit: their surveyor also broke the lock of one of my windows meaning that I am further out of pocket for a new lock - even after the eventual return of the deposit. This is a true and complete account of my experience with 'Britelite windows'and the exchange correspondence and associate contract material can be provided,
