If you like dog chews on your burger……..

Went here specifically to go to BMB as we had already shopped in Braehead. The burgers tasted like a frozen burger which had been cooked long before. The bacon on my burger resembled a dog chew and was left on my plate as was inedible. The burger bun felt fridge cold and obviously hadn’t been toasted. All in all not a very good experience but the coffee was exceptional.

Good place to visit!

Lovely staff! Great service and asked how our day was going. The food was spot on and perfect. Just in general a fab place. Would definitely go again.

Disappointed - Mediocre at best.

Well, that was disappointing!
Our friends have raved about BMB so we thought we’d give it a try. It wasn’t good - mediocre at best.
What really annoys me is that we drove past lots of really good restaurants to get there. That will not happen again.
We expected something really good; If our friends were right, the food at BMB should have been exceptional. And that’s what we expected. It just wasn’t. It wasn’t even average. It would best be described as “edible but poor”. Such a disappointment from a well-reputed city centre burger joint.
Last week we had the misfortune to find ourselves eating burgers at McD’s in Great Western Road and remarked that the burgers were actually tasty, warm and filling (and cost £17 for the three of us to eat and drink). But compared to BMB, the food at McD’s was much, much better. Not just a bit better, much better.
I have never before asked for a discretionary service charge to be removed from a food bill - ever. But today, I just couldn’t pay £5 plus (or for that matter a tip) for the food we were served; it was just not good enough - my burger was lukewarm, the side of chips was cold - although the BBQ beef toasted sandwich was, surprisingly, very hot (and apparently quite tasty). The beer was lovely - but that doesn’t make up for the disappointing food!
Service was good enough and the restaurant was (surprisingly) fairly busy.
We love Babs (sister restaurant) and eat there reasonably often - with no complaint whatsoever. We can’t believe the difference in quality at BMB.
Perhaps this was an anomalous “one off” on a fairly busy Saturday? Perhaps BMB is usually much better? Who knows….but regrettably we won’t be back to find out - which is such a pity. It’ll be Babs next time for us…Glasgow has lots of really good eateries. There is so much choice….but we won’t choose BMB again.

I had a great experience at BMB

I had a great experience at BMB, Lothian Road,Edinburgh.
I haven't been before and booked for food after an afternoon concert at The Usher Hall, literally across the road.
Due to the concert over-running and an encore, I was a few minutes late for my reservation, but it was no problem.
They have locally brewed Cold Town Beer on the menu - I had a pint of the Baltic.
To eat, I had the bacon cheeseburger with a side of chips.
The food arrived quickly and the burger was clearly freshly grilled. I'm not usually a fan of brioche buns for burgers, but this one looked & tasted good.
The chips are on the menu as "chips" - not fries! - and were "proper", tasty chips. The small portion was plenty, as I wasn't sharing.
I rounded-off my meal with vanilla ice cream & caramel sauce.
The place has a "diner" feel, with a lively atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff.
I'd firmly recommend this restaurant and I'll be looking for opportunities to visit again.
Check out my Google Maps review for photos.
