Peace and serenity at our Luxury B and B on the coast of Exmoor National Park, close to the South West England Coast Path. We have 9 rooms, and a self catering wheelchair accessible apartment, in our Grade II Listed Building. We have the oldest Squash court in England and an outside hard Tennis court. We have recently introduced a Sauna, wellness suite, and Honesty bar stocked with local Exmoor Vodka and Wicked Wolf Gin as well as Thatcher's cider (and much more). There is a very large and comfortable lounge with a wonderful view of the rolling moorland of Dunkery Beacon and Allerford village. You get glorious views from the Oak Mullioned front windows (from bedrooms D, E, G, and H, as well the grand breakfast room) and 100ft long terrace, 8 acres of informal Arts and Crafts grounds to explore, with millpond, waterfall, shallow river and many fruit trees. The village of Porlock with its various pubs and restaurants is just a mile and half easy walk through the chocolate box village of Bossington itself. The sea is a fifteen minute level walk, opening up to the spectacular bay, showing the headlands to Lynmouth and Hurlstone point - this is a pebble beach.

This was our second visit and Bossington Hall was again exceptional. The room was really comfortable, beautifully furnished and well equipped. There is an amazing choice for breakfast with the hot food cooked to order. The house and grounds are lovely and there is so much to do in the area. I can’t imagine a better place to stay in the Porlock area with its great coastline and easy access to Exmoor.

Beautiful Arts and Crafts house with stunning views of both sea and moors. Rooms are tastefully furnished and really spacious by any standard but huge conpared to what's generally available in a B & B. Beds are super comfortable. Delicious buffet and cooked breakfast. Great bar/cinema room, a charming lounge, a well stocked library as well as a sauna provide lots of indoor space in which to relax in the evening. Excellent value for money!

Our week long stay at beautiful Bossington Hall was perfect - friendly helpful staff, lovely room with marvellous views, excellent breakfast and an unsurpassable location, with great walking opportunities. The ultimate B & B.
What a wonderful place. We arrived in the early evening and having settled in, sat on the terrace, with its long unobstructed view of Porlock Vale, to watch the sun set into the sea while enjoying a glass of wine.
The bedroom and bathroom were both generously sized and very comfortably equipped. So much so that on Saturday afternoon, for the first time in my life, I fell asleep in a wonderfully comfortable armchair.
The house itself is a beautiful, classic country house, lovingly maintained and extremely clean and comfortable throughout. The extensive garden was a delight with its tennis and squash courts and provided a very pleasant walk with long views of open rural countryside.
Breakfast was a great treat: a buffet for cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit and toast, followed by a wonderful selection of marvellously cooked breakfasts, served by an accomplished waitress. A memorable start to the day.
I recommend Bossington Hall to anyone who wishes to enjoy glorious traditional rural England from the comforts of a country house.
I never write reviews (tut tut), but this time I feel compelled to do so, and, warning, it's a long one. If you need to de-stress, step away from the chaos, focus on work, or treat yourself, this is the best place to stay in Somerset and immerse yourself in the beautiful surrounding nature. Bossington Hall and its grounds are stunning. As I arrived after hours, I was immediately hit by the beauty and quiet of the place, followed by the easy check-in and the joy I felt as I entered my room. Everything is clean, well presented, stylish, and spacious. I stayed in the Ivystone room with a huge ensuite bathroom including a roll top bath. Where you can soak and watch rabbits, birds, and stare at the Exmoor and Quantock Hills.
I walked to Porlock village the first evening and popped to the Top Ship. You feel really safe walking there and back. The Bossington Hall breakfasts are delicious, well thought out, and sensibly curated. It's a very nice, peaceful dining experience, with lovely background music, and you don't feel at all uncomfortable if you're on your own.
Parking is easy. The interior spaces of the hall are gorgeous. Complimentary beverages and a cute little bottle of milk in your fridge are in your room (don't you just despise those awful little plastic UHT things - none of that nonsense here). Plenty of water, biscuits, tea/coffee/herbals, and crisps too. And the customary mini dark chocs.
The bed must have been perfect because I went from a 3-hour sleep the night before to an 8-hour rested night!
The people who own the luxury B&B are lovely. Not at all intimidating or annoying.
Guy is wonderful. There's always a spot of trepidation when you choose to stay somewhere. Depending on how you feel or who you are, you may not want someone who talks to you too much, or you may want more attention from a host. Guy intuitively reads his guests and immediately takes the right approach whilst being himself. I challenge anyone not to feel special and looked after with his charming personality and kind professionalism.
Now, I didn't have my glasses on at the time, but as I sat at the front of the house enjoying the landscape and I saw my first Golden-collared woodpecker. I came here to focus on work, staying for two nights, taking one full day of deep work focus. I'm leaving here this morning, having achieved what I needed to do, to go back to my family and business with renewed vigour.
Stay here, you won't regret it! I'm bringing my husband back to show him that just two nights away here, from work, dogs and kids (we love them all, of course), enables you to re-energise and get back to it!
Thank you Guy Dewdney and Annie.
Bossington Hall is spectacular inside and out. Our room was beautifully decorated and our ensuite, was as big as some bedrooms we have stayed in. Views are stunning and service and breakfast were excellent.
Beautiful setting, with a unique approach to B&B. Real luxury, exceptional value and outstanding staff. Second visit and it won’t be our last. If you are looking for a dog friendly luxury break near great places to walk, this is it.

Truly a treat & a wonderful place to stay. Spent 2 nights in the Heddon room which is a vast, beautifully presented room with opulent bathroom, great facilities & incredible sea & garden views.
Everything from the decor, style, facilities, a very warm welcome, bar, cinema room, beautiful garden & lovely, quality breakfast just could not be faulted. You come across places like this so rarely. Thank you Guy for making our stay & my wife's birthday special.

We have been before and so knew what to expect. Don't be fooled by the B&B label. This a country house hotel but without the dining option. Breakfast is excellent and sets you up for the day. The views are fantastic and, if you just want to relax and read it is the perfect ambience for doing so. If you bring back a takeaway you are provided with plates etc. There is also an honesty bar which includes cheeses/ham etc. Guy, the owner, is a charming chap and because it is still not season, was waiting at breakfast. Bedrooms all have huge televisions if you can ytear yourself away from the view.

This really was a wonderful place to stay, everything from the welcome given by the very nice owner to our departure was top drawer. The room was spotless, the beds very comfortable, the bathroom spacious and the owner had thought of, and provided everything needed to make us feel at home. The breakfast choice was superb and the young couple who waited on us were extremely pleasant. All this and the wonderful view from the property makes this B & B very special. We are in no doubt that we will return and will certainly recommend to others.
This is a phenomenal place to stay. Homely luxury. Great service. Beautiful surroundings and views. Delicious breakfast. I can’t fault it.

The location is simply wonderful and Guy and his team went out of their way to accommodate my mother, my disabled father and I. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent. Would highly recommend,

What we discovered at bossington hall was an oasis of calm and serenity. It’s years since I’ve stayed anywhere where you can’t hear any traffic at all.. just birds, animals and the breeze.
We stayed with our two dogs for a few days and will certainly go back. ( thank you for the complementary dog treats etc!)
The owner, Guy, has poured his heart and soul into Bossington hall and it shows. The staff are smart, polite and very professional giving you just the right amount of attention. The grounds, around 9 acres.. are stunning, well kept and you can even help yourself to fruit from the trees ( which I did!).
The breakfast was also delicious. My partner had full English and I opted for poached eggs.. everything is locally sourced if possible. I love fruit and the strawberries, raspberries and blueberries ( especially!) were delicious and very fresh.
If you decide you can tear yourself away there is a couple of coastal paths nearby and a HUGE amount of walks into country/forest. It’s surrounded by national trust land too I think. Brilliant!

Easy to book and pay on-line here. Questions answered promptly by the owner. Website informative and accurate. This is a lovely luxury B&B in the most wonderful area and setting, rising high above the beautiful villages of Bossington & Allerford. We stayed in the accessible self-catering apartment appropriately named Allerford View. Parking is limited here, but a space is allocated for this booking, with level access to the sheltered courtyard area. The accommodation is generous and well equipped. Starter pack and other items of really high quality & appreciated.
Breakfast (if the B&B itself is not full, & check the extra cost) can be arranged, and we were so glad we did, twice. As a special treat after a small Premium Bond win, we had for one night stayed at the Polizzi Hotel Endsleigh near the Devon/Cornwall border. 5* luxury, wonderful gardens, décor & staff…..but….Bossington Hall’s breakfast was better! Eggs, mushrooms and bacon all of better flavour. Perfectly cooked, very hot, and well presented. Continental buffet really excellent and well thought out. Thank you Guy, your staff, and of course Exmoor itself, for yet another wonderful and relaxing holiday. Highly recommended.
