Satisfied Customer

Very happy with the service I was provided. Helped with my credit score and had no issue at all closing my account early. Got my money back a couple days after it was confirmed closed. I would recommend Borrowell!

Hard to talk to someone

Hard to talk to someone, email is slow and I never get the issue solved with just one. Need a phone number.
Was tgiven 3 different reasons by 3 different people as to why my reminder emails stopped. I'm still waiting literally months later for them to tell me they have fixed the issue for me.
Yes it works, I assume it's through their credit builder or rent advantage, but I am excellent with my money as well, and now I can report my rent on my Koho bank account and get 2.5% back for having it come out of my account there. I can also have my rental company report my rent as paid so I have more options now. And, I can phone either of them!

I had a minor issue with the site that…

I had a minor issue with the site that was not anyone's fault and the team addressed me immediately after I told them the problem and made me aware they were dealing with it promptly. They then followed up afterwards to let me know the issue had been rectified....I could not have asked for anything more than that

Serving their own interest

borewell seems to calculate my score 75 to 100 points lower than other services.
I feel like they might do this to pressure you into their many credit building services. They get paid by every provider that you apply to from their site.
I do not trust them so I canceled them.

Alternatively, Credit Karma and most banks will show you a credit score from TransUnion (e.g., Scotiabank, BMO, RBC, Capital One, etc.) or a different score from Equifax.

Each credit bureau (Equifax and TransUnion) is its own business, and each operates in its own way. The Equifax Risk Score is a popular and legitimate score calculated by Equifax that is widely used in Canada for making consumer credit decisions, which is why we chose to offer this score. We feel it's important to know where you stand with both credit bureaus.

Borowell recommended a lender, said I had an excellent chance of getting a loan through that lender. They got all my information and denied the loan. How WRONG they (Borrowell) were.

Not only wasting time, but also risking credit score loss!

Do NOT waste your time! You will regret it by seriously damaging your credit score and receiving countless tempting emails. I realized this very late, after years of usage and even after subscribing to 9 months of their ineffective RentAdvantage program. It seems they are playing a money game with redundant and harmful activities under a marketing mask

Lacks clarity and options for customers

I recently enrolled in Borrowell’s $25 bi-weekly Credit Builder program and fortunately my experience thus far has been underwhelming.

There are no clear options in app for linking payments or establishing backup payment methods, which seems like a fundamental feature for a service of this nature.

Moreover, the absence of live support agents further adds to the frustration.

All inquiries must be addressed via email, which results in delayed resolutions and a lack of real-time assistance ( I am still waiting for a reply how to link my payment/bank account).

The process feels needlessly convoluted and cumbersome, and fails tragically short of the clarity and support one would expect from a company specializing in financial services- especially of the ones of this nature.

It also seems that customers are unable to access detailed information about their credit-building progress, such as how much of their loan has been paid off.

Frustrating and Unresponsive Cancellation Process

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience canceling my Credit Builder Account. The process is painfully slow, and apparently, the only way to contact their customer service is through email—no phone support whatsoever. Even worse, they rarely reply to emails, leaving you in the dark.

I’m genuinely concerned they might charge my next payment because it’s taking so long to finalize the cancellation. This lack of responsiveness and efficiency is unacceptable. I would not recommend this service to anyone, especially if you value prompt customer support and transparency.

Borrowell isn't accurate

Borrowell isn't accurate. I've completed bankruptcy. 1 account is still open when it should be closed. My credit limit is also wrong and off by over a thousand dollars. Site needs to improve with being accurate.

Gift Certificates

I am a member of Borrowell, have found them reliable so took an offer to get a credit card through them, with a promise of a $50 Amazon gift card. That was 5 June. I did receive the gift certificate mid August.

Denied a lifetime access to Rent…

Denied a lifetime access to Rent Advantage ; after I cancelled the first time. The email response vanished mysteriously. I deleted my Borrowell account since I am low income and treated as if I have no right to access credit building services. I can pay $59 to register past rent payments well I will add it to my expenses.

They do not respond and they falsely…

They do not respond and they falsely claim to improve your credit score with a borrowell loan and then they wont answer your emails when you try to cancel the loan repayments and get your money back. SCAM

The More You Know


I get regular updates whether or not there has been a change in my score. No one wants a bad credit score even if there as many reasons as people it still makes a person feel "less than". It takes a long time to recoup. The agencies that keep "all our stuff" for me, whenever I thought of them it was intimidating. Not so much now because everybody has everything about everyone, if you know what I mean. The customer service I received as I've already said was unexpected but great. As the middleman i don't doubt you get some really nasty misplaced anger. Just so you know that it's working, I can honestly say that my opinion of Borrowell has improved & I really didn't have a negative one to begin with. :) What you have done is create a connection between us, where now when I think of you I have respect for what you do & see you as someone who is there to help us improve that rating, cheering for us. All I have just said sounds childlike but there's only so much time to go on. The site itself has suggestions & options to look at that might be beneficial to check out. Where are people going to go for information when in a situation like this so I hope people find you or you find them. Thanks, take care
