I’ve spent years defending BOB
I’ve spent years defending BOB, telling everyone that I’ve been buying and selling on it for the past half decade! Nothing wrong, sketchy or nothing about the site and the people on it!
Apparently I need to stop defending and start agreeing!
As a seller I always had to hop, skip and jump for the buyers when parcels went missing, when they had buyers remorse and who knows what else!
But now me being the buyer? Oh I’m ignored, I win an auction of a bunch of Pokémon cards and the guy keeps 18 cards from the bundle? Coincidentally all the “valuable” ones.
Get told the courier probably stole it, that he has video of his worker packing them, but can’t share the video?
I request a refund he says on the 21st I’ll receive it in 1/2 business days. It’s festive season so I’m understanding and patient.
But after so long I check with BOB and they say that they have nothing to do with the refund and can’t help me?!? Just get sent the same copy and pasted email the whole time!
Yeah I’m done with this site, they stuff with you as buyer and seller, Buyer and Seller protection my ass!
Cobus Campher congrats on scamming me
Brandon vd Linden Congrats on working less and just sending the same default email not helping whatsoever
Done with this site 👍

Review of Bobshop (SD Traders Account) – Serious Lack of Seller Protection When Buyer Fails to Read Listing
I am writing this review as a long-standing seller on the Bobshop platform (SD Traders). I want to detail a recent experience that exposed a critical flaw in Bobshop's seller protection policies, ultimately leading to a loss for my business despite full transparency and adherence to all platform rules.
The Incident: Sale of "Cracked Screen" TV (Order **********6)
The item in question was a Hisense 55″ QLED 4K Smart TV, which was explicitly listed for sale as a faulty unit for spares or repair due to a cracked screen.
Transparency in Listing: My listing was meticulously clear:
Title: The title included the phrase "Cracked Screen | SD TRADERS".
Description: The description repeatedly stated the condition, including: "Condition: Faulty / Cracked Screen" and the key note "Sold strictly as-is, no returns." The purpose was also clear: "best for spares, repairs, or parts harvesting."
Post-Sale Confirmation: To prevent this exact situation, I sent the buyer a message after the sale was confirmed stating: "We appreciate your business and trust you fully understand the condition of the TV as described in the listing."
Delivery and Complaint: The item was delivered as described. The customer then contacted me via WhatsApp, accusing me of being "dishonest" and "*****ulent," stating she had not read the title or description and expected to use the TV for watching movies for her children.
The Bobshop Resolution and Failure of Protection
When I escalated the matter to Bobshop, providing all the evidence the listing, the description, and my post-sale warning to the customer their response was disheartening and demonstrated a complete failure to protect the seller:
Bobshop's Admission: The Bobshop representative verbally admitted that my listing was perfectly clear and detailed the issue exactly as required. They conceded that the customer's error was due to negligence (failing to read the clear description).
The Recommendation: Despite confirming the customer was at fault, Bobshop's ultimate recommendation was that I must refund the customer anyway.
The Rationale: When challenged on this, the representative’s reasoning was that the customer still retains the "full right to dispute" and could potentially pursue legal action, leaving Bobshop to recommend a refund simply to mitigate the risk of legal trouble, regardless of the seller's transparency.
Conclusion: No Seller Protection Exists
This situation proves that zero seller protection exists on Bobshop against customer negligence.
Why should a seller dedicate time and effort to crafting an honest, transparent, and accurate listing going so far as to confirm the condition after the sale only to be forced to bear the cost and risk of a refund because the buyer failed to read a clear, two-word warning in the title ("Cracked Screen")?
This sets a dangerous precedent: buyers can simply claim they didn't read the description to void any 'as-is' or faulty-item sale.
I was fully transparent from start to finish. I now have to pay for shipping, manage a return, and issue a full refund simply because Bobshop is unwilling to stand by its own platform rules and descriptions when a customer threatens legal action. This is unacceptable business practice and provides a hostile environment for honest sellers.
A Platform for Dropshipping Fraud
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆
Bobshop allows sellers to openly mislead customers. Items listed as "available" and "in stock" are often not in South Africa. My order was shipped directly from China, proving the "available" status was a lie.
The platform is riddled with sellers using this scam to secure sales and finance imports with customer cash. Bobshop does nothing to stop it. Avoid unless you want long delays from China and zero consumer protection.

Fake tv box on bobshop
I bought a tv box on there site. I cannot log with my password into the internet to check the apps on the box.I send a lot of e-mails to BOBSHOP The ticket number ##472894## was issue Sunday morning to me. This is a fake tv box that they sell on there site and is not useable at all. Specs In box is not the same as advertised and apps is not working.I took the box to a profesional it shop and they check the box with other software and confirm that the box is fake and not useable as a tv box.Very unhappy and will not deal with this sharks anymore.
Pathetic service
No customer service Emails are not answered Seems like there are untrained staff who don't care Seriously there needs to be some urgency in handling issues Why does a buyer have to waste time and money calling BOB when the staff cannot help with issues ? Management needs to address internal issues as its giving the company a bad name

at this moment am still waiting for my order to arrive and it haven't arrived yet, and the estimated delivery day have passed.
Poor Customer Service and Unfair Bid Cancellation
I am extremely disappointed with the customer service I received. I was bidding on several items from the same seller and didn’t realize that one auction had ended three days before the others. The item was priced at just R11.00 (less than $1 USD), and I fully intended to complete my purchase once my other bids were finalized.
However, instead of allowing me to proceed, the seller unilaterally deleted all my bids. When I reached out to support to explain the situation, I was simply told that since more than 48 hours had passed, nothing could be done. This response is unacceptable.
A simple reminder or message from the seller would have been enough for me to resolve the issue in time. Instead, I experienced poor business ethics and a lack of customer consideration. I expect better from this platform.
I would appreciate a reconsideration of this policy and a resolution to my case.
BOB Shop is heading off the cliff!
I have been a seller on this site since 2009, for 15 years and can now officially say this has become a absolute wreck! The new policies that supposedly "protect" the buyer come at a high price to the sellers who have been honest, ethical, hard working and even have 100% positive ratings.
They hold your money ransom for as long as they like until the order is delivered or until the buyer decides to mark the order as collected (some buyers are unaware of this and won't mark the order as delivered or collected). If the courier (which they recommend) fails to deliver your order, you wait for payment. This is a terrible system and is crippling small sellers like myself.
These new policies have ruined the platform for everyone, the buyer, the seller and of course BOB Shop will feel the impact in their earnings. Unless this is just another ploy to monopolize and push the small people out! That is what I feel is happening here.
Customer support and/or management doesn't really care based on the correspondence and excuses I have been given. I now lost my job pretty much and income as a result and will most likely remove all my listing soon if things don't change.
Avoid being a seller on this platform as you will have a terrible experience sooner or later and will be treated like garbage or a robot by their staff, guaranteed.
bobshop sucks!!!
It said R60.00 delivery for orders under R100 now they have taken an extra R15.00 from account today for shipping. which was delivered a week ago They can't explain so they say its wrong box detail. To top it all up you have to do a face or email verification before you can buy, sell and cash out your money. Oh and by the way the face and email verification does not work
downhill since the change from bidorbuy
Tried to purchase items from a colleague through there site to make it easier for seller with regards to invoicing for proof on taxes etc (SARS is a thing after all).
account disabled before I could even complete purchase. 10/10 will not use them again for any purchases.
BOBSHOP IS the BIGGEST Online Sales CLOWN SHOW in History!
This whole circus started on the 8th of August! Will never buy anything on this platform again! Advertise as local businesses till you pay and then discover you are dealing with a Chinese company that is worse than TEMO! The sellers appear to be local with a South African flag nogal till you have ordered and then discover the product is shipped from China with 20-30 days delivery! Then the Chinese ask you for a part number of the product that they are selling and have 100 excuses why they haven't shipped the product! When they eventually decide that they have what you ordered you then you get threatened that they will not ship till you change your rating to from bad to good! Scam artists at their best! After 2 weeks you get a tracking number from Buffalo Logistics and eventually the package is on its way to South Africa! Arrives at OT customs on Friday 23 August then on Monday the 26 August your package gets delivered not to you but to a unbeknown to me address in Fourways with the tracking number showing deliver to me. You then get a message from the Chinese scam artist that the reason that you got the message is that your package is awaiting custom clearance that was already done the 23rd as per the tracking details! You then get stringed along for a whole 5 days that it will be deliver the next day till I had enough by Friday the 30 August I was told it would only arrive on Monday as the courier they use doesn’t work on weekends and if it arrives at the residential house address in North Cliff that they seem to run the “business” from to save YOU some time after 25 days instead of them sending it to your address that might still take 3 days you can arrange to pick it up a there residential property or you can pay extra for UBER package to come and fetch it! If you then do not agree to this they cancel your order after more than 3 weeks! BUT WAIT FOR IT – Then you realize the biggest incompetence is not the seller but actually the BOBSHOP customer care staff and management! Morne one of the apparent managers at the circus then tells you are in the wrong and not there seller for dragging you along for almost a month and is well within his right to cancel your order and your refund will only reflect in your account in 21 working days! F@king clown show NEVER AGAIN!
PS – Ordered same product but probably better quality out of Germany at about 400 rand more on EBay on Friday the 30 of August and arrived on the 3rd of September
Excellent
Friendly service from the courier. Great prices and shipping packaging was great. The book purchased was delivered unharmed and I received it but only a few days after ordering. Will Purchase from bobshop again.
Bob's not your uncle
This site is a nightmare to sell on. When you sell an item they charge a 10% success fee. That I can live with but the story does not end there.
Bobshop charges its sellers for shipping costs which is unheard of anywhere else. Shipping costs are always attributed to the buyer. They charge R60 and then (oh so kindly) give you a R30 "rebate" so every seller has to cough up R30 per item shipped. If they need R60 per item for couriers they need to charge the entire amount to the buyer instead of pretending that the buyer gets a great bargain by paying R30 only while the seller gets nailed with the same amount.
Most people do not possess a printer so we have to go to postnet or some other place to print out bobshop's waybill. Woe betide you if you open two shipping orders by mistake because you might have downloaded the waybill at home and again at postnet (there should be a failsafe mechanism in place to stop this from happening because how on earth can you have two shipping orders for the same item?) because bobshop will charge you for shipping fees again so now you will pay double for shipping (AS THE SELLER!) This design is underhanded and very sneaky and obviously put in place to make bobshop as much money for nothing as possible. Because of these hidden costs and fees the seller has to pump up his price to try to make a profit which lowers the chances of selling the item.
These guys have a long way to go before they can be viewed as a decent South African selling platform, the trouble is that they have little or no competition so they don't have to change these predatory tactics.
Skynet Couriers (used by Bibshop)
My problem is not with Bobshop (Bid or Buy) but with the couriers they used - Skynet. They apparently lost an antique Capidimonte vase that I bought. The Bobshop merchant was very apologetic and did her very best to get Skynet to trace the item, to no avail. Skynet has not yet had the courtesy to contact me. I did get a refund, but I wanted the rare vase. Has anyone else had problems with Skynet Couriers?
Bobshop boo boo
I ordered 2x water heater systems on the 3 December. On the 11 th Desemberi got my first reply. The supplier did not have stock. No communication from bobshop or supplier. I had to send emails.
I lost a contract and potential work .Totally unprofessional . And now
To purchase from someone else on my own
Cost .The refund can take how long with a fee

According to them the matter was resolved but the money still outstanding
