Canceled account in June, still billing months of service

Attempted to take an additional month of service charge ($39.99) after cancelling services.

Customer service rep told me 7/15/24 would end my services (cant cancel and get a prorated month for just the days used, the billing cycle must run its course)

Now 7/17/24 they are deducting for 7/16-8/15. Customer service dont have an answer- had to dispute charge with credit card..

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Big Commerce Fee Ratcheting Scam

We have been with Big Commerce for several years and in the most recent years they have continually rachetted up our fees. The formulas change and when your business grows they increase you to new 'categories' where you pay even more (more than just the transaction fees they get with every order) implying your growth is because of them, not your business.

They goad you into going 'annual' to save money, but then when you want to move back to 'monthly' they REFUSE to let you, even with the offer to pay back the 'discount' of the annual. In this case, they insist on keeping our $7,000+ subscription. They say 'you should have read the contract'.

Will NOT be continuing with Big Commerce and I suggest you find a different online store vendor!

YOU CAN GET A REFUND

YOU CAN GET A REFUND. I DID IT.

Appalled by the service provided by BigCommerce. It’s a disgrace that they’ve failed to issue a simple refund.

If you’re stuck in this quagmire, here’s what you can do: Initiate a chargeback with PayPal. It’s a straightforward process where you dispute a transaction, and if all goes well, PayPal will reverse it, effectively prying your money out of BigCommerce’s grasp.

Don’t stop there. Report them to your local consumer protection agency. I’ve done the same with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), who are now diligently processing my extensive report.

To get your refund, you need to be relentless. Call BigCommerce at every opportunity. Dial every number they have, even the tech support. Make them realize that they’ve stirred up a hornet’s nest.

We used this company for years but they…

We used this company for years but they just kept hiking their fees, calling us "professional" even though our sales were declining (also we found out due to their terrible SEO and integrations). We have moved to Shopify now, sales have increased and our subscription fee is a quarter of what it was with this company. BC - a word of warning, fix your service or you won't be around much longer.

No sales, no refund

The company continued to bill me after I had cancelled the plan and I reached out to them for a refund and they would not provide one. They did not bring in one sale for me via their website.

Wish I'd read these reviews before…

Wish I'd read these reviews before signing up to Bigcommerce.

I used Bigcommerce for less than a year before realizing that all my stats from my wordpress website were going downhill... fast. I've since moved my site and things are going back to normal... Then I get hit with an annual subscription fee as apparently I hadn't cancelled it correctly. I messaged support to try and get a refund but they wouldn't give the money back even though I hadn't been using their services for a few months. Looking at the reviews below it's clear that it's because people are leaving them in droves.

I still get messages from Wordpress saying they're about to charge my card for this or that service that I've signed up to and forgotten about... Which gives me time to go in and cancel the service before I'm charged. I'm genuinely shocked how bad Bigcommerce is - please take everyone's advice and don't use them!!

I’ve used BigCommerce for 8 years since…

I’ve used BigCommerce for 8 years since 2016! They have become a terrible company to deal with and we will be moving to a new platform. They wanted me to pay 1 year in advance for the “Pro service”, and wouldn’t let me revert back to the standard service on a monthly fee. They shut down my store with no warning and are refusing to open it again until I pay for the 1 year of pro service I don’t need. Scammers and fraudsters from what was once a reputable Australian developed company. Such a shame.

I wish I could give zero stars

I wish I could give zero stars.

In our contract it clearly says a pricing increase can be the max of 5% at the end of a contract but big commerce's renewal team had the audacity to propose a 249% increase and say you are getting a good deal. They refuse to let you speak to anyone on their finance team or billing team.

Literally awful

Literally awful. You can only make an optimized desktop site, and then have to pay some other developer to make a mobile site through different software. I have never had the kind of issues with any other software like this than with BigCommerce. I will migrate my (existing, desktop only) website as soon as humanly possible to something else

Horrible billing experience.

Title: Extremely Disappointed with Big Commerce's Billing Negligence

I recently had a highly frustrating experience with Big Commerce, and I feel compelled to share my negative feedback regarding their billing practices. For the past two years, I have been using Big Commerce's services without any issues. However, they failed to bill me during this entire period, only to surprise me with a staggering charge of $1500 due to a supposed system error.

To say that I am disappointed and frustrated would be an understatement. As a business owner, I rely on accurate and timely billing to manage my finances effectively. Big Commerce's negligence in not billing me for two years shows a severe lack of professionalism and responsibility.

What adds insult to injury is the exorbitant amount they decided to charge me once they acknowledged their mistake. It is simply unacceptable for a company of their stature to expect customers to pay such a substantial sum out of the blue. This sudden and unjustified financial burden has caused significant financial strain and disruption to my business operations.

Furthermore, the fact that Big Commerce's system broke without them even noticing for such an extended period raises serious concerns about their internal processes and quality control. It is inconceivable that a reputable company, supposedly equipped with sophisticated technology, could overlook such a critical flaw for such a long time.

Not only has this experience damaged my trust in Big Commerce, but it has also left me questioning their overall competence and reliability. As a customer, I expect transparency, accountability, and fair treatment. Unfortunately, Big Commerce has failed to deliver on all these fronts.

I urge anyone considering using Big Commerce's services to think twice before making a decision. Their disregard for basic billing practices and their subsequent attempt to charge an exorbitant fee is deeply troubling. I believe it is essential to highlight such experiences to hold companies accountable and protect others from similar ordeals.

In conclusion, my experience with Big Commerce has been nothing short of a nightmare. Their negligence in billing me for two years, followed by an outrageous charge, has left me thoroughly disappointed and frustrated. I strongly advise others to proceed with caution when considering Big Commerce as a service provider.

We moved from Volusion to BigCommerce…

We moved from Volusion to BigCommerce as we felt Volusion may be out of business soon because they are rapidly loosing market share. WOW is all I can say in how utterly USELESS BigCommerce is as ecommerce platform. You can NOT do ANYTHING without an "APP" Lots and lots of APPs (each @ additional cost) needed to do the most BASIC tasks. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!!! Have an issue?? THEN you have to deal with the APP company "its a BC issue" then back to BC "no its an app issue" --- TRUST ME! AVOID THIS NIGHTMARE we are already seeking a new platform. OBVIOUSLY the "Good" reviews of BC are fake -OR- from very uniformed/unexperienced online retailers.

Was with big commerce for 4-5 years with reget

Was with big commerce for 4-5 years . paid a lot of money to google ad to get sales up and as soon as we got busy and sales went 192K the fee went up from 70 USD to 299 USD and then after few months went up to to 399 USD ( for same same 190K sale ) . contacted them saying its too much ,was told I have option to close my site on their platform . I moved to Word Press Woo commerce costing me around 2000 USD for web design and lost some links but at least if my sales goes over 400K. i still pay same few Dollars fee for server . In Big Commerce "Prices" page it says for sales over 400K need to contact them to negotiate the fee. ( no clear amount!!!!) basically they can say any amount and you have to agree or close your site and lose a lot of customers and sales . Advice : from the begining pay someone to get your own website caz you will have to do it later with a bigger cost

I have been using Big Commerce for at least 10 years. The site building tools are very intuitive and simple to use. To me one of the most important features of an ecommerce hosting site is customer service. Big Commerce has FANTASTIC customer service. Anytime I have questions or a problem that has to be resolved I call and speak with a real living human. The customer support reps are very knowledgeable and personable. When you speak to them they actually think and use their intelligence to find a solution for your issue. I highly recommend Big Commerce!

💩 BigCommerce is a joke, stay away!

Worst piece of s*** software I've used in a long time, and their customer support is useless.

Manage multiple e-commerce stores with over $1 Million in sales.

- Launching a dev store failed because of some error on their backend.
- You CAN'T select which product to show up on Google Shopping. It's either the whole catalog or nothing.
- All the basic page editing features need to be added as "apps".
- Took me 2 days to figure out how to set up basic conversion tracking from BigCommerce > Google Ads (add_to_cart, initiate_checkout, etc.)
- Couldn't get Zapier integration working, no documentation
- None of the settings are intuitive, constantly have to navigate around the menu to find what I'm looking for.

The list goes on and on, but basically just stay away.

Here is an ACTUAL conversation from their customer support:

Me: I launch my store with 10 products, then I add 10 more. How do I choose which ones I want to show on google?

Julie G: I am not sure it would be possible, as I believe this would come down to you deciding to list the product or not on the Google Ads you are creating.

Julie G: Thank you for your patience. I was able to confirm that for now, only the full catalog can be synced on the channel, and it would not be possible to select which one to send to the channel.

WHAT THE ACTUAL F?!

So angry I wasted 2 weeks of my time.
