Disappointing!!

The lodge we stayed in was large and had potential to be a great place. Unfortunately it was very dirty and in need of renovating and improved maintenance. Showers had mold, windows were filthy, window blinds were broken, furniture was old and ratty, and the kitchen had a thin film of grease on everything. Drawers and cabinets were filthy with stuff randomly thrown in them. When we complained they sent someone to clean, but it was too little too late. Very disappointed!!

Very bad experience! Stay away!

Very bad experience! The house upon arrival was very dirty and dusty. I found old food, dirty diapers, and cobwebs all over. No enhanced cleaning here as advertised! They didn't even provide pillowcases and the pillows were all filthy. I was told that a ski lift ticket was included, when I checked in only a rental was (so might have been some confusion on the employee's end) since I got one the year before. The location was very dirty. I was offered a free day. Once management processed the complaint they only offered a refund for the cleaning fee. I felt ripped off by the entire experience and will never use them again. I found Big Bear Cool Cabins and I was very happy with them!

Was a wonderful stay

Was a wonderful stay. The first place was awesome , it was to bad we had plumbing problems again on our second time staying in Big bear.
The move to the other cabin was nice and big and lots of room.

Overall

Overall, our trip was ok, but there was one glaring issue. The heater was making a loud rattling noise at night time that caused us to lose sleep. This was especially distressing since we had 2 small children and they were both frightened by the heater noise. We could have brought this up but we were informed from the repair person that the heater unit was recently fixed. Also, we did not want this to take away from our overall vacation experience thinking the noise would go away. We simply did not want to deal with it and chose to lease the premises 1 day earlier than intended. I just don't think I will be booking more future trips through the same venue.

Filthy cabin STAY AWAY

Filthy cabin. Not dirty,FILTHY
First time we stayed at the cabin it was filthy but my husband wanted to keep coming back because of the location(on lake w/out neighbors to the right and a parking lot to the left, very quiet to say the least. I have pictures that I was hoping to post so perspective renters could see what they are getting into.
Furniture smells, rugs(probably 30 years old) are filthy. This cabin has has carpet in the bathrooms. .....who does that. How unsanitary!!
The outside furniture is old and was never washed prior to our visit.
I could go on and on about how disgusting this cabin is .
On a positive note, this cabin would be a perfect place to host a Halloween party because the cobwebs are already there for you.

Poor condition

Lots of ants, heater broken, fridge noisy, no dishwasher but require guests to wash dishes by hands. Poor lake access without walkable trail. Swimming pool and spa closed. Carpet dirty. No board game.

You won't have much fun in the cabin, only advantage is close to summit resort, about 10 min drive.

This was by far the worst property…

This was by far the worst property management company I have ever dealt with. Issues are always going to happen how they are handled makes or breaks an experience. I will never rent from Big Bear Vacations again. Aside from Ray the maintenance guy every other employee at that company I came in contact with was rude, and careless. The after hours emergency line is a joke. We were locked out of the property for 45 minutes upin arrival. No one ever called us back, luckily we were able to get in on our own accord just to find no blankets in the house, lights off, heater set to 50 degrees. We called emergency hours line again no response all night. We spent our first night without any balnkets! Once I finally got ahold of the office in the morning the lady didn't even care she had the audacity to say that it was the owners responsibility to make sure there were blankets, not im sorry yiu and your children spent the night without blankets! To make matters worse the house we stayed at had a problem with the water heater we had to boil water to give my kids a bath. I requested a property switch but was told they'd have to speak to the general manager for approval which never happened. They did send a plumber out on day 3 but they suggested a new water heater and the owner declined so it did no good but it didnt matter anyways because we were leaving in the morning. The whole reason we booked that specific cabin was because of the jacuzzi tub and it had green mold/mildew in it and no chlorine onsite to clean it. Of course again the guy at front desk said they'd send someone which didnt happen! It was so infuriating the morning we were leaving the pool guy came and cleaned it! We asked for some sort of credit or refund and was told we had to wait for the GM approval that she was going to go over our visit the following Tuesday and would contact us. The following Friday I called to iinquire about speaking to her as I had not been contacted yet and was told she was out of the office and they were not allowed to give out her number but would pass my message on. Literally to this day I still haven't heard anything from the GM or anyone else for that matter. I would not recommend this company to anyone for anything!

Went above and beyond

We had an issue with a stay we previously had but Kim Hermon more than made up for it. No company is perfect but when you go above and beyond to fix the issues that's what really matters. I will definitely be booking with Big Bear Vacations again!

This is one of the worst experiences…

This is one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had and we stay in big bear homes a couple times a year. The oven didn’t work nor did the microwave but we did not find this out until after spending $250 on groceries to make dinner. The floors were covered in wax so several of us fell and a couple of us got injured with bruises and soreness. There were cobwebs throughout the house. The master suite which is pretty large has a queen size bed for some reason and one of the cheapest quality ones you could buy. If you don’t mind laying upside down and not being able to get any sleep then you might like it. I will be leaving multiple reviews on as many places as I can as the management company doesn’t seem to care about the experience we had, only offering their apology. Buyer beware!

Terrible

Check in was a nightmare. Was told complimentary check in started at 3. Showed up at 3 and was told the cabin was not ready and check in starts at 4. No problem. Came back at 4 and was told cabin still not clean and to come back at 6. I let them know I have a 2 and 4 year old in the car and it was not acceptable. They tell me there is nothing they can do. I ask for the manager and all of a sudden the cabin is ready. We get to the cabin and it’s clear someone was currently living there and that was the cause for the delay. TV was on, trash everywhere, a drink from a fast good restaurant on the counter still full of ice. Someone definitely ran out in a hurry.

Once we settle in, there are ants everywhere in the kitchen and bathroom. We head outside and the guy who services the hot tub is there and asks if we plan on using it. We say yes and he says he wouldn’t feel comfortable with us in it with the water condition. Green slime everywhere. He cleaned it but now there is a high level of chemicals in the tub. We leave the following morning when we were booked 2 days.

Terrible experience from start finish.

Good overall

Very nice spot and very good and the check in crew were very nice and everyone was very understanding. Just wish check out was at 11am or noon instead of 10am so theres more time to clean up before you leave so you dont rush or spend so much time the previous day cleaning.
