Family run for three generations, Beattys celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2011; having first opened our doors in 1931. We began trading as a small grocery, hardware, and grain store on Church Street, Loughrea. Our longevity can be primarily attributed to the ongoing support of the local community and our staff’s dedication to providing exceptional advice, value, and service to our valued customers
The team of more than 40 staff at Beattys has a wealth of experience and product knowledge. Over half of the staff members have been working in Beattys for 15 years or more.
Our Stores
Beattys has two separate locations in Loughrea, Co. Galway. The Station Road premises is a fully stocked builders’ merchant with plumbing, bathroom, timber flooring, and hire departments as well as a complete range of agricultural feeds and fertiliser. The Main Street/Church Street premises is a 15,000 square feet retail outlet stocking an extensive range in each of the following departments: housewares, interior furnishing, electrical, DIY, toys, paint, and gardening. To ensure we have the best prices possible, we are part of 3 buying groups, Topline hardware, Euronics Electrical, and Toymaster. We endeavor to stock many interesting and unique products, especially in the housewares and interior furnishing departments. If you’re looking for something different, we have it.
Local Community
We show our appreciation to the Loughrea community for this ongoing support by engaging in fundraising efforts, and we regularly host fun events for our customers. In 2013 we organised a Shave or Dye event where 35 people either shaved off or dyed their hair on the night in Beattys, raising more than €10,000 for the Irish Cancer Society.

Hickory handles
I was looking to purchase 2 good handles for a slashers and knew that a hickory handle was very good quality so bought 2 from Beatty’s online when they arrived they were far too small and light for what I considered a standard farmers slashers.
I contacted the company by phone, got talking to a man who seemed quite nice but didn’t seem to care kinda laughed it off.
For me it was a complete waste of €28 euro ( not a lot ) but how many other people might buy the same handles and have a similar experience.
I am quite sure Beatty’s are a very good and reputable company but for me it was a bit disappointing but anyway best wishes.
