I ordered a book from beans and sprouts…
I ordered a book from beans and sprouts as a trial. I have to say it is such a lovely book, the stickers and cards are also a really lovely touch. Unfortunately for me, the issue is the price. It’s all very expensive so this would have to be a gift as I couldn’t afford to keep paying the price for these books.

Super cute but not great quality…
I started a subscription with a special offer to get our first month for $1 and after receiving the first book I’m canceling asap… it’s very flimsy, like a thick magazine basically. One of our pages was upside down but because it’s so flimsy I easily undid the staple and fixed it so I guess it’s a win-lose situation? I would not pay $20+ a month for this subscription. I mightttt pay $5 if I knew the pages would all be right side up next time.
The story and artwork are super cute though!!

Avoid, avoid, avoid
I first received one of these personalised books as part of their ‘only pay for p&p-£1.99’ offer a year or so ago. The book was ok - my little girl liked the story - if a little flimsy and easily torn.
They sent me another email last month with details of the same offer but a different book. So I entered my details. They then took £14.99 from my account. I tried to cancel the transaction within hours with both beans & sparks and the bank (transaction was still pending). Beans & Sparks ignored my cancellation request and then made a special request to the bank to release the money (the bank warned me they could do this). Beans & Sparks communication has been poor, I was told it was a new customer offer only and as I had previously ordered a book, I was not eligible for the offer. So why send me a personalised email with details of the offer? Surely it is not legal to take £14.99 from your account when you agree for them to take £1.99? So, I have now paid £14.99 for a book that still hasn’t appeared. They have cancelled the book but kept my money. Not sure if it is theft or fraud…

I never received the book so I…
I never received the book so I cancelled subscription as I’m not going to pay for something that I haven’t even seen to see if it’s even worth it. Also I paid for delivery on an item I never received.

Lovely Book But Too Expensive
It's a lovely book and my daughter was excited to have a story with her in it. I really liked the message about making friends, especially as she's about to start school, it's really timely. The only problem is the expense. £15 a month for a kids' book is just too much money. It's not even a hardback book, it's a stapled pamphlet style one. I really think if it'd been £9.99 I would have continued the subscription, but as it is, it's too overpriced. We can't afford it.
