First time design came back flawless.
Designed my first board and then searched for reputable company to make it in the USA. BasicPCB.com came up with low quantity and great price. Boards came in exactly on time and was great quality. Had a second design on hold till I saw the first one. Sent it as soon as the first one came back looking great.
First order from BasicPCB
This was my first order from BasicPCB. Found them after an internet search for a PCB Fab. from the US that did not over-charge for a quality PCB. Ordered a BasicSpec PCB and what I got was what I expected (well made board at a reasonable price). Another PCB Fab. had done a previous revision of the same board (same size, little changes) and charged 4X the price.
35th Order with Great Results
This was my 35th order and my second review. I've ordered boards from 1.7" square to 7"x8.5" and the quality has always been excellent whether it is Value or Basic Spec. I only had one small issue on one order, otherwise the service and product has been great. You can't beat the price. I always buy Made in the USA when possible and you should too.
Quality boards with quick response.
Quick response, quality boards, easy to upload and order.
Thin, but very useable
As others have noted, the PCBs are very thin, but more than useable for my purposes. Quick turn-around and good quality!
Great PCBs for 2 layer jobs
Purchased 2 Layer PCB's and they turned out great. Will be a repeat customer.
Quality work for small PCB runs!
I have ordered form BasicPCB before and have been very satisfied with their work. This order for 30 pcb's was no exception. The ordering process is easy, the boards were received in a timely manner, they were well packed, and the quality of the boards was exceptional! There were no issues and I will certainly use them again.
Good experience for low cost PCBs
I ordered 3 different PCBs for the first time, and overall had a great experience.
Of the three designs I sent, one was .9 mm thick, with the other smaller designs being .8 mm. All of them feel nice and sturdy, and the solderpads have been durable enough to withstand several desolderings of SMD and through hole components.
The green soldermask and white print are all sharp and easy to read. They add a small tracking number to the silkscreen on the back.
The turnaround time is quite fast for the cost of the valuespec service. From order to delivery in my mailbox took 8 days. I live in a large city in Utah.
The shipping emails appear to be time based, and don't actually indicate when the boards were shipped, since I received the shipping email the day the boards arrived.
I chose the 5pcs Basic PCB express…
I chose the 5pcs Basic PCB express option which said I couldn't choose the soldermask color which was fine. However, the PCBs I received were nearly 30% of standard .062" size. I would have been ok with .047( ~1mm) but <1mm is not an acceptable thickness for any PCB. The pricing was reasonable but clearly they cut costs by giving their customers ultra thin PCBs.
Great for small prototypes when you're not in a rush.
I recently needed a couple pieces of a small board. It wasn't a rush job, but I didn't want to wait for a slow international parcel service, either, so I went with BasicPCB.
I used their Value-spec service, where you don't get to control the board specs. Instead, the board rides along on whatever panel that had the excess capacity to absorb it.
For this order, the board ended up being 0.8 mm, with excellent registration, great looking matte-green soldermask and very sharp silkscreen.
It's a bit of a lottery, as my next order could very well have landed on a panel with a looser spec.
Order was placed on Jan 4, "shipped" the night of Jan 11, postmarked Jan 12 (from Aurora, Colorado), and arrived on Jan 18 (near Los Angeles, California). Three PCBs (1.5 in x 3.0 in), for $19, delivered.
The boards were shipped in a padded mailer, sent first class with a USPS tracking number, but no return address.
BTW, you can either order three PCBs as a "ValueSpec" order which can vary in thickness. Or you can order five PCBs (or more) to get the industry standard 1.6mm thickness with their "BasicSpec" service. There apparently is no way to place an order for Four PCB.
Ordered from BasicPCB.com several times…
Ordered from BasicPCB.com several times now and always been super happy with their product. Generally do the random material PCBs and it is fun to open them up and see what thickness and color arrived this time. Would highly recommend their service.
perfect boards at a very reasonable price.
Got 3 prototype boards delivered for under $7 WOW!. And they are perfect. I didn't have to compromise on quality to get a small quantity of prototypes.
3rd order
This is my 3rd order. I chose the minimum of 5 boards to get the thicker PCB. As usual, the quality is outstanding. They are more expensive than other board houses but they are made in the USA. 4 day turn around.
Buy American!
Great service.
Good
Good, simple platform and pretty quick turnaround. Wish there were more options for shipping. Also wish the website held files/previous orders for easier reordering.
First time ordering custom PCB
First time ordering custom PCB. It was very easy and quick. Shipped pretty fast and also in the US.
No quicker, more expensive, and lower-quality than OSHPark and Chinese fabs
My ValueSpec order (randomly selected substrate and solder mask) was manufactured on 0.8 mm board with matte green mask. While the PCBs work fine, they aren't without fault and the overall experience left a lot to be desired.
Pros:
✔️ Smooth edges, with no mousebites or protrusions
✔️ Made in the USA
Cons:
❌ My boards were cut obscenely crooked on one side, exposing copper and truncating silkscreen.
❌ Very poor silkscreen resolution: Thick and sloppy, with dull edges.
❌ No quicker to fab than OSHPark's basic service tier (8-9 days), and considerably slower than SeeedStudio (4 days).
❌ More expensive than both OSHPark and Chinese fabs.
❌ Cumbersome, opaque Gerber upload process: Files must be manually renamed prior to uploading and each layer given a very specific filename, and the website has no Gerber viewer to preview how boards will turn out.
❌ ValueSpec (the only affordable service tier) doesn't even allow choice of PCB thickness, which can be critical with THT boards.
❌ Tracking number not provided unless you ask for it.
20th And Counting
This was my 20th order and my first review. The boards have been mostly small, but one was 7x8.5". The quality has always been excellent and this has been the lowest cost alternative for Made in the USA. Chinese boards may be cheaper, but shipping adders may make that not so. I will always buy American when possible and you should too.
