Babylock Overlocker demonstration.

Today I accompanied a friend to Barnyarns for a demonstration of a Babylock overlocker by Claire their in house demonstrator.
What a delightful young lady so patient and knowledgeable and what a really wonderful experience we’ve both had. My friend was really impressed and bought a machine!
Thank you Claire and the team; it’s always a pleasure to visit this company.

Just had an owner’s course for my new Bernina. Janet was so helpful with lots of good advice. Small number of attendees meant lots of individual attention when needed. And as always the Barnyarns crew were really helpful with lifting and setting up machines etc. Really comfortable surroundings. All in all 5* 😁

lovely small business

The team here are always friendly and happy to help. I bought a machine from them last year and have been learning to use it -- please to see that they are now offering 'get to know your machine' workshops.

Recently I attended a full day workshop with lovely Janet who was so helpful and patient. She took the time to learn what machines we were bringing so she'd know how to tailor the projects to our machine's specifications. She had endless patience, good humour and had prepared interesting exercises and handouts. I learned quite a bit on the day and will definitely be back for another workshop in future.

I’m cannot praise or thank them enough! On a Bank Holiday when everyone including themselves where closed, they opened especially for me to buy a machine. Their advice was perfect, customer service excellent!!! Without them I would be unable to complete my university project (my old machine unexpectedly quit!). For all your sewing needs and advice just go there, they are the best out there, once again I can’t thank them enough!

A great place for service and product choice

The young man and woman who served me were on their day off. I stopped by on my way home, forgetting it was a bank holiday. They had given up their time for another customer to collect a machine and when I turned up, they couldn't be more generous with their time to get me what I needed. The choice and quality of products are wide and for a good price.

Thank You Barnyarns.

My wife has a Bernina 1130 sewing machine we calculate it is possibly 40/50 years old , just recently it had developed a fault. I contacted Barnyarns Sew Cente in Melmerby (Ripon) who where helpful in every way from minute one, we took the machine to them a few days later, on arrival they carried the machine from my car to their workshop, we left it with them , and as promised they contacted us three days later to collect the machine again their attention to detail was simply first class, carrying the machine back to the car and explaining to us what they had found to put the machine back in working order, the three chaps, Chris , Will & Ben . are a credit to the company, We offer our appreciative thanks to all concerned. Michael & Pat Rowlands. Collingham .

Happy Pensioner

I have used Barnyarns for many years. Not too frequently as I am just a very enthusiastic hobbyist. But whenever I have ordered goods they have always been delivered quickly and are superb quality. I have never had the occasion to complain , the service is impeccable and am confident it will always be so.

I Would Give Six Stars If I Could

My wife’s Pfaff Passport 2.0 had developed an issue where the creation of buttonholes wasn’t quite as it should have been; it would miss a few stitches here and there.
After doing lots of research online to find the best, most trustworthy and highly skilled people to service it and identify the issue, we selected Barnyarns.
The service/repair enquiry was entered into Barnyarns contact field on the website and a telephone call from Barnyarns followed on the next working day. The issues were discussed with the engineer and a date was set for the machine to be dropped off at Barnyarns.
Upon handing the machine over, neither my wife nor I could have been more impressed with the way we were treated by every member of staff involved. Being able to speak directly and discuss everything with the engineers was good but it was exceptional to speak to them in the actual repair station. That kind of service is something that was the norm a number of decades ago, but today it is very rare. Seeing the area of operation just instilled even more trust.
As promised, the machine was serviced and a damaged part was replaced. The machine had otherwise been in excellent condition and was now back in that order.
Whilst in Barnyarns, my wife saw a Pfaff 5.0 on display. She had been considering upgrading for two or three weeks but she had been considering the Pfaff 635 Ambition, one of which as also on display. Time for some professional advice!
We were introduced to Callum who was extremely knowledgeable and explained the differences between each machine and their capabilities. The 5.0 was a pre-loved machine which had had very little use, confirmed by its own stored readings. The machine’s sale price was around half of its original price. It was too good an offer to miss. Before letting us part with any money, Callum insisted on it going through a full PDI check. Meanwhile we popped into Ripon for an hour or so.
Whilst in Ripon my wife received a call from Callum informing her that a small connection affecting a button or part of the digitiser needed replacing, which he would arrange to do and in turn deliver it to our home some 46 miles away at no charge.
Upon our return to Barnyarns around an hour and a half later, the engineer thoroughly explained the work he had completed and the damage to the part he had replaced on my wife’s Pfaff Passport 2.0. He also showed a piece of fabric detailing the various stitches he had produced using the machine.
As we were about to make payment for the Pfaff 5.0, I asked Callum whether Barnyarns would consider purchasing my wife’s Pfaff Passport 2.0. The engineer certified its health and Callum gave us a really honest offer, even stating that they had actually increased in price since it had been purchased by my wife. She knew that of course, as she had been figuring out costs when looking to upgrade to a Pfaff 635, but it’s not something that a typical sales person would openly disclose as Callum did. He agreed to buy the 2.0 from us and totally waived all of the costs for its service and replacement part that we had already agreed to pay. He also threw in a spool of Gütterman stretch thread that we were already purchasing anyway!
It removed the headache of trying to sell the Pfaff 2.0 privately and reduced significantly the amount we paid to acquire the Pfaff 5.0, a much superior machine to both the 2.0 and the 635.
We were so impressed by everything and everybody at Barnyarns, we will never go elsewhere. In a word, “Excellence.”
Thank you Callum!

It’s like having a new machine

I have just got my sewing machine back after a much needed service and it’s like having a new machine. I was talked through everything that had been done to it and was given a sample of the stitches tested and a checklist when I collected it. Will definitely recommend Barnyarns for servicing machines.

I bought the Mystery Box

I bought the Mystery Box. I thought it would be good because I have bought threads from them many times before. However my box contained four pairs of different scissors. As a seasoned quilter I already own good scissors. These accounted for at least half of the box. Very disappointed with a lot of the other items in the box so I wrote to Callum twice. As I didnt get a reply I have written to Jon - twice. Still no reply. Wont be buying from them in the future.
