It would be impossible for the barcode numbers you received to have been previously used. Each barcode number we sell is issued one time only. Once a number leaves our system, it is permanently removed and can never be sold again to any other customer.

First time buyers
First time buyers - Buying Barcodes "GTIN, UPC, ETC." is easy but keep in mind you need to know how to insert them into the system for initial identification and know their limitations. One barcode one product or variation of a product. That product and label cannot change once assigned if you want to be safe from litigation. So if you make a new label or change the style or color of an item get another code....simple.
PS - When you list your first item with any vendor your barcode automatically goes into a database in most cases.

The GS1 GEPIR screenshot you emailed us does not mean your barcode numbers are already in use. GEPIR is GS1’s historical registry and does not show current ownership for many legally owned GTINs.
Barcodes that are privately owned (per GS1’s 2002 U.S. class-action settlement) often display the original pre-2002 registrant in GEPIR. GS1 does not update this database after resale, which results in outdated names appearing—this is common and does not indicate reuse or invalidity.
Your company fully and legally owns the barcodes purchased from Bar Codes Talk. No other party has the right to use them.
Ownership can be verified in our public owner database, where we publish current registrant information for transparency. Our support team is always happy to help explain this further if needed.
