CHARGED ME OVER $ 35.00 FOR PAYING WITH A CREDIT CARD. I GAVE MOHAMED (YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE AGENT) BANK INFO FOR THE NEXT RENEWAL. IRREGARDLESS HE ASKED ME TO CALL IN MAY 2026 (RENEWAL DATE) TO MAKE SURE THE AUTO PAY WITH THE BANK INFO WAS IN.
DID NOT WANT TO PROVIDE STREET NAME FOR THE FIRE POLICY. I HAVE MORE THAN 100 POLICIES, SO I HAD TO STARTED GIVING MOHAMED COMPLETE ADDRESSES, AND LUCKYLY WAS THE ADDRESS #6.

I REQUESTED FEEDBACK, BUT HE DISCONECTED THE LINE.
DON'T BOTHER WITH THEM. GET SAFECO (INSURANCE), THEY HAVE MUCH BETTER RATES AND DON'T GIVE YOU SO MUCH HASSLE.

Sorry but I'm not giving you policy numbers. You just need to correct your agent MOHAMED, or you are going to loose customers.

Charging a $10/monthy service fee is BS if I pay monthly... That's called a USER TAX. If your rates had not tripled in the last two years maybe I could pay all at once... Your rep was ZERO help, other than to tell me its just our policy. I said, do I get a $120 discount if I pay in full and the answer was WHAT??? Hi David,

We're sorry your experience with our team didn't meet expectations, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback.

We understand installment fees can be frustrating. The $10 fee helps cover the additional costs of processing multiple payments throughout your policy term, including transaction processing, billing statements, and payment management. While we keep fees as low as possible, they allow us to offer payment plan flexibility for customers who can't or choose not to pay in full upfront.

We appreciate your business and are happy to discuss your payment options if you'd like to explore other alternatives. Please reach out to us directly at (833) 922-6266.

Thank you,

Charge for using a credit card, unacceptable!…

I was completely shocked that your company wanted to charge me over $40 just to pay with my credit card and have the nerve to tell me that my cc company was assessing this fee. I have paid my insurance bills for many years without a charge. In addition you charge a $70 fee for the policy.

Billing Cycle Needs Widening

Your company prepared and (apparently) mailed out my premium bill, allowing 15 days from mailing to requiring it be paid at your office. The post office is now significantly slowing down mail. I received the notice 2 days before it was due. Your rep helped me deal with it.

However, it is very important that you expand the notice / return process from 15 to 30 days to recognize the US Postal Service slowdown reality.

Buyer beware

Buyer beware. I don't want to spend too much time here because if people are reading this, it is probably too late for them. I have had property insurance with 3-4 companies spanning 35 years and never experienced anything like this. It is very reminiscent of the commercials where they say beware of shady insurance companies because in your worst hour, they will not be there for you. Bamboo Insurance is a good example of bait and switch as they were very helpful and nice initially, we supplied the information they requested, then they kept pushing for the claim off saying that they needed more time. They continued to say everything was good and the full amount was just waiting on final approval. The claim then got passed off to a second rep and the initial rep was no longer involved. Now they needed to verify the information, but everything was fine. About 2 months had past at this point. This new rep said similar things about the process…a check for the stated amount was all set and about to go out. Things were good, I was a little frustrated with the time, but I voiced that they did not include one aspect of the coverage and they immediately responded that they would not cover that because it was not warranted and clearly it was. But they kept saying things were good and then after 3 plus months a check for about 5% of the total amount showed up and they said the claim was being closed. I asked to see the policy language to support their denial and they have been trying to send it over for 2 months now and cannot find it. They would not connect us to anyone with a legal background. They were making up reasons to deny the claim and as we dispelled each reason, they would come up with something else. They finally gave it a generic name like "hard living” and used that as a catch-all to deny everything. Which makes no sense at all based on the claim or the situation. Going through the Department of Insurance now en route to most likely to full lawsuit.

Bamboo is a SCAM

This insurance policy has been an ongoing frustration from start to finish. For more than a year, I was repeatedly told that Bamboo was “wrapping up the investigation,” only for the process to reset with yet another request for documents I had already provided.

I fully cooperated at every stage—multiple calls with the adjuster, in-person meetings with their investigator, and an Examination Under Oath conducted by their outside counsel. They also required extensive personal documentation, including detailed financial records and tax information. Even after supplying everything asked of me, the claim continued to be delayed with no meaningful progress or resolution.

In the end, pursuing legal action became my only option. If you are dealing with this company and notice unnecessary delays or repeated requests for the same information, do not rely on their assurances. Be proactive and protect yourself early. I regret not taking that step much sooner.

Unfair tactics to senior citizens

Bamboo continues to delay executing our claim and asked us to get our own estimates instead. We shared we would prefer to have their estimator to provide the repair costs to them as it is standard so that we know the costs they will reimburse. Reviews online make apparent that they use this tactic to deny claims and then reimburse less than half of the claim. As a veteran and a senior citizen I feel like they are taking advantage of the situation.

The worst customer Service in the world

Day one was great!. Prompt follow up.. From day 2 onward.. the process was horrific. No follow up... Jennifer never returned calls, emails or texts. We just wrapped up a leak that happened on 7/31. I am still waiting on a check for my repairs reimbursement. There was NO way to contact anyone above Jennifer. When I finally found a way to get hold of somene in salt Lake City.. she was rude, and made excuses for Jennifers lack of follow up and professionalism. NOBODY at the customer Servcie center could elevate the discussion. It took me posting a negative comment on trust Pilot and the better business bureau to get anyone to respond. I did get a wrap up email from Jennifer.., Then all of a sudden she dissappeared.. no response back regarding our ruined Persian Carpet.Sat for another three weeks.... The I did finally get someone who apparently took over the file,. NOT ONE PERSON AT A SENIOR LEVEL JUMPED IN TO SUPPORT ME AS A CLIENT, APOLOGIZE OR TO MAKE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS BEING TAKEN CARE OF.... They lost my business ... and I will be sure to let everyone I know on line and in person,, ,that this is the type of service provided.... really really dissapointed .. and I am the easiest person in the world to communicate with .. if you commnicate fairly with me..... Terrible company - Don't Trust them.

Terrible company. They insured my investment property 6 months ago. It was a new purchase -- about 2 months of ownership there was a bathroom water leak identified in a unit that had never been occupied. Bamboo had us pay everything out of pocket to repair, including remediation then we had to file the claim. 4 months later they are denying the claim and cancelling the policy. What an unethical way to do business. I will be contacting an attorney to pursue a breach of contract.

Hundreds of plaintiffs every DAY are…

Hundreds of plaintiffs every DAY are filing against this Co. Same playbook-Take as little information when you first get the policy, then they use that lack of documentation against you. IF you file a claim, they lie, even when provided with evidence of said information in dispute. Why so they can rescind the policy and make you sue them. Don't wait months or over a year to sue them in court. Right at the 3 month mark, FILE the lawsuit. Because otherwise you are just risking your financial health.
Here are some facts to help you out:
Consumer Alert: Bamboo Insurance Practices

Consumers should exercise caution when dealing with Bamboo Insurance. Based on my experience and publicly available information, this company appears to operate on a model that prioritizes profits over policyholder protections.

Claims Handling Issues

Policy benefits often become effectively unusable once a claim is filed.

Standardized denial letters frequently state that “there’s no coverage for this claim,” without substantive explanation or investigation.

Policyholders report difficulty reaching any claims representative for follow-up, leaving them without support.

Claim data is forwarded into industry databases, which may limit the policyholder’s ability to obtain coverage from other insurers in the future.

Business Model Concerns

Company leadership has openly described a strategy of ensuring that payouts remain lower than premiums collected.

Bamboo relies on extensive data collection and algorithmic claim-screening, which appears designed to reduce payouts rather than evaluate claims in good faith.

Internal metrics reportedly prioritize agency profit margins and revenue per employee, rather than consumer protections.

Transparency and Accountability

While marketing emphasizes affordability and accessibility, consumer reports describe minimal to no claim payouts.

Positive reviews generally focus on obtaining policies after being dropped by other carriers, while negative reviews overwhelmingly concern the claims process.

Public financial disclosures suggest strong profitability despite widespread consumer dissatisfaction.

Regulatory Concerns

Bamboo’s approach mirrors prior controversies in the industry, such as the use of AI and data-driven denial systems that regulators have already fined other insurers for.

Given the volume of consumer complaints and the potential systemic impact of their technology-driven claim denial practices, this company warrants close regulatory scrutiny.

Conclusion
Bamboo Insurance was founded in 2018, raised significant funding by 2023, and has rapidly grown its book of business. However, consumer lawsuits and complaints are beginning to mount. The company’s practices raise serious questions about whether it engages in unfair or bad-faith claim handling. Consumers should be fully informed and regulators should consider investigating Bamboo’s business model and claims practices.

Bamboo insurance is keeping my money

Bamboo insurance is keeping my money. I did not wish to renew a homeowner policy with them. But they auto renewed it. I requested a cancellation and refund of money charged to my credit card with out my consent. The policy is now canceled but there has been no refund. This has been on going since July 21, 2025. They are also refusing to refund the entire amount that was charged. Claiming the fees were paid to their bank. I would advise anyone to steer clear of this business. They are earning interest on my money and not responding to requested return of funds.

Hello Tom,
We appreciate the opportunity to provide a quote, and we understand that premium pricing can be frustrating, especially in a challenging insurance market like California. We’ve investigated this review and have found that the representative acted professionally throughout the exchange. The California Department of Insurance requires us to base our quotes on replacement cost—not market value—using a pre-approved estimation tool. We are legally bound from dropping coverages below the amounts. Additionally, the representative offered to compare your current declarations with our offer to make sure that you were sufficiently insured. We regret that we couldn’t be a better fit and wish you well in your search for coverage.

Bamboo has a 67% denial rate

Bamboo has a 67% denial rate, for context the insurance crisis in Florida was 49%. They have a history of denying for "wear and tear", that seems to be their go to denial reason. Please consider other carriers, and there are other carriers even in CA. I have personal experience of what their denials can mean and it is devastating. For me it resulted in losing my home and almost 2 years of my life fighting them. I can't tell you they have spent more that the 225K claims in inspectors, attorneys, experts, etc. And why? So their CEO can claim record profits, and they do. Bamboo is very profitable, while their insureds lose everything.
