I’ve been camping for 40 years and this campsite ranks amongst my very favourite. Incredibly peaceful and just love what the owners are doing to respect nature and tread lightly. I’ll be back.
We stayed at the simply camping site which was just lovely. Perfect views and very quiet. I slept like a baby :) since there’s only 4 huge pitches, it’s very private. Shower and toilet are close an... See more

Quite simply one of the most beautiful campsites I’ve ever stayed on. Super flat pitch on a gorgeous rewilded field, private hot gas shower and composting toilet (no smell, it’s great), big firepit and even a table and chairs to sit and eat and enjoy the sunset. Total privacy and peace and quiet - nothing but birdsong, lambs bleating and insects buzzing around the wildflowers. Anna and Brad were such friendly and helpful hosts, and they have created a little semi-wild heaven with these three pitches (we stayed on Gatekeeper) - staying here feels genuinely good for the soul. We’re coming back here as soon as we can!

Wow, what a site. Brimstone was absolutely perfect for our camper van stay. Just to stroll through the mown paths, watch the birds and listen to their singing, admire the views, relax - the antidote for all stresses. The facilities were spotless and so well thought out. We have already booked our next visit.
I love this place. It’s the best place to relax and recuperate in nature. Anna is welcoming and I keep coming back which is the best recommendation I can make… till the next time

A really lovely little campsite, close to everything you need. Private, spacious pitches with beautifully clean and well maintained facilities. Anna was a great host, popping in to check everything was ok. Loved it so much we’ve already booked again for next year.

One of my favourite places in the world! My morning cup of tea in the meadow with the birds singing is so restorative. A most tranquil place.
We stayed in the great orchard cabin which is beautifully made, along with excellent kitchen cabin. Despite no electricity it’s very easy glamping, the shower is fab, the composting toilet was clean (and not too smelly!), decent torches provided and eco washing/cleaning products in the kitchen. We have two boys (aged 12 and 14) who also love it, especially the shower!!
Anna was there to welcome us for our fifth visit. Hopefully we will be back again soon.

Host Anna was very friendly, welcoming and helpful when we arrived. The Gatekeeper exclusive camping field was excellent, with a nice view, attractive surroundings and great facilities.

We love Bakesdown! We first visited around 8 years ago, and more recently visited with our two young daughters. It has everything you could want (or ever thought you might need!) when camping. We had gatekeeper this time and the loo and shower are a fantastic addition to this field. The privacy your own field affords is outstanding and we had a fabulous stay. Our 4 year old particularly enjoyed borrowing the body boards to have her first ‘surf’! We’ll be back

We tested out the brand new private pitch “Gatekeeper” with two tents, two awnings and two cars and it was excellent. Very spacious and gorgeous views. A nice large flat pitch too. Lovely large spacious hot shower with its own little window and the loo is far enough away from tent area not to be a hindrance but a positive in many respects! Large fire pit with a great grill top was an especially good addition this time round. It had the usual logs stools all around but some of th could have been cut flatter rather than on a slant though! My only helpful suggestions would be to have a small hand basin by the loos so don’t have to walk all the way to washing area by gate but this was a minor nag. Otherwise can’t fault our stay ! Anna is super helpful and friendly and came to see if we were ok but we were left to have a very private stay. The handy thing about Gatekeeper is its close proximity to the farm to buy logs and each pitch has a key to their private charging locker which was excellent. We shall be back again next year for our 5th time because this is by far the best private campsite we know! 10/10!!

We stayed for a week in the Great Orchard Cabin (two adults, one 18-month old). Its set in a beautiful small field / orchard with thick hedges and long grass teaming with wildlife. We loved the natural location, spacious cabin and well equipped kitchen. The building and facilities are high quality and comfortable, with thoughtful touches throughout.
I cried when we arrived and cried when we left. A really special spot - looking forward to staying here again one day.

We had the most peaceful and enjoyable stay in late June. Our pitch was in a beautiful location; isolated, but not too far from fridges, secure charging facilities etc. We had a well equipped outdoor kitchen, a brilliant outdoor shower and composting toilet. Everything was well thought out on an ecological and sustainable model, and the owners were lovely. I left feeling quite jealous of what they have created!
I have stayed here before and will certainly come back. It is such a peaceful, friendly, and well set-up place to stay. It is a little sanctuary where you can really get away from things. A real gem!
We had a wonderful week at Bakesdown farm. Our field was so beautiful and peaceful. We didn’t want to leave.

As ever - 9 years running - Bakesdown is like no other campsite we’ve ever found. Peaceful and charming it’s just a delight to visit.

A delightful pitch, plenty of space for our three tents, a very useful covered kitchen area and also very private. We all loved being there and just observing the peace and quiet of the farm and woods.

This is my favourite campsite I’ve been to. Surrounded by beautiful nature while having privacy. Had everything we needed to have a great weekend with friends including a fire pit and BBQ. Can’t wait to come back again!

Amazing gem of a place in Cornwall. We loved our short stay here. The owners were lovely, very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable of the local area. The location is great, the campsite is magic and the cabin was a luxury! Nothing bad to say. We will definitely come again!!! Thanks!!!!
