Amazing company with great customer…
Amazing company with great customer service. Received a walnut harvester as a Christmas gift in 2024. When I went to use it in 2025, realized that it was not set up for the correct size nuts. Contacted company and had a conversion kit at no cost except for a small shipping cost within 5 days. I was also sent a link to a video which guided me through the rebuild. Works great. Very friendly easy to understand customer service.
I hate sweet gumballs
I hate sweet gum balls, but my Bag-A-Nut loves them and gobbles them up like candy. Ours is a symbiotic relationship. ;-)
There are five gum trees on or overhanging my property. The biggest gum tree on my property is 80-100 feet tall and a prolific gum ball producer. Bought a Bag-A-Nut almost two seasons ago to clean up the mess these trees make and it does an outstanding job. Two years in a row I have filled 10+ 45-gallon contractor bags with gum balls.
I just added the weight attachment brackets and a couple of 10 lb. barbell weights. Took it for a test drive this afternoon and was impressed with the improvement.
Before adding the weights small gumballs, gumballs in shallow areas or in deep grass would evade being picked up. Not anymore. If you have a Bag-A-Nut and haven't added weight attachment brackets, do it. You won't be sorry.
Effective but poor quality
I have a 36" Push Harvester
Pros:
-Definitely picks up pinecones
-Baskets are easy to empty
-Overall easy to use and makes picking up a lot of pinecones very a quick process
Cons:
-Very poor quality; green tines bend easily and the black "forks" will snap off and get lost
-Very expensive, especially since it's so low quality
-Frequently jams. Jams are easy to fix, but can really slow down the process.
-Baskets are very small and fill up extremely quickly.
Overall, if you have a ton of pinecones in your yard, this product will make your life much easier. When everything works correctly, it is truly impressive to see how many pinecones it can pick up in a relatively short time.
It is ridiculously expensive, though, and rather cheaply made. I could excuse many of the defects if it were more reasonably priced. As it stands, we've been using this one for only 2 years and will most likely only get one more summer out of it. It's going to be a tough decision as to whether we're willing to fork out another $700+ to replace it.
All plastic....
All plastic....
Baskets kept falling off the first time I used it.

Reply from Bag-A-Nut
Bag-A-Nut works for Gumballs!!
I bought the Bag-A-Nut for pecans to pick up gumballs from my prolific Sweetgum tree. The company makes one specifically for gumballs, but I hope to have Pecans in the future so I went for a 2 for 1. It works fabulously on grass and pavement unless the gumballs are totally flattened. It is a bit messy on mud. I just push it like I would a lawnmower. 5 Stars from me.
I have 40 trees and harvest by hand
I have 40 trees and harvest by hand. I shake the pecans onto a large tarp and drag the tarp from tree to tree. This method takes 45 minutes per tree. Bag a nut reduced that in half. I got the 21 inch pro. Some tips. Clean up as much debris as you can first. Second, stop frequently to clear debris. An added benefit is that the stiff tines shucked half of my pecans further reducing additional work. I’m going to make a homemade blower next that will separate chafe from the nuts further reducing my work. The alternative is to invest in mechanical harvesting for around 40k.
This is a game changer
This is a game changer. We picked up at least 90% of sweet gum balls with no effort. And it was so easy to move through the grass my 5 year was able to help!
Push to pull picker
When I called about changing my "push" type Sweet Gum catcher to a pull behind Theresa said "you" sure can! And she quoted me the exact price and shipped it for free. It was an absolutely great purchase and experience.
Tool did not work at this time
Tool did not work at this time. Acorns had set all winter and could not be picked up. We will try again in the fall with fresh crop.
Customer service is excellent
Customer service is excellent. I realized I had purchased the wrong size harvester and they sent me the expansion kit free of charge I only had to pay shipping. They already had it ready to ship when I called in.
Great product!!
This (almost) makes picking up gumtree balls fun. I was VERY happy with it and amazed at the ease and thoroughness of the cleanup. It came quick and was easy to assemble. Would definitely recommend including the weight brackets.
Great for Pine Cones, but also picks up rocks
This product picks up all sizes of pine cones!
I purchased one designed to pick up smaller cones and it has catch box with 1/2" x 1" open screening.
I was surprised by how large the diameter of the roller is. Also, I initially found it unusual to see the cones on the wheel and to have them dumped in front as most lawn sweeps and dethachers have the pickup bag in the rear.
Since the cones are grabbed and not whacked into the bag, one can move at any speed or stop and start without affecting the pick up.
I do however have a few challenges!
1. I need to pick up pine cones off a driveway made of 1/2" gravel. This device unfortunately does pick up gravel. Since my recycler is expecting tree products, I have to manually remove the gravel either while its on the wheel or while its in the bag.
A future design might include a space, with an adjustable opening for the gravel to fall out before entering the catch bag. Same for accidentally picking up rocks.
2. The device is on the heavy side. Yes, I understand the desire to be durable, but basket could be made much lighter, the wheel could be made a little smaller and the handle could be made out of plastic on the top section and attached with a smaller diameter bolt.
3. The device does miss picking up pine cones that are on an uneven surface. Its performance could be improved by using a softer duramater plastic for the wheel spokes, so that like a soft tire the wheel would have a larger footprint and better adapt to uneven surfaces. The spoke tips would need to be firmer to prevent them from wearing out when used on paved/concrete surfaces.
Product works well with sweet gum…
Product works well with sweet gum balls. Received the product quickly after ordering and was accuract description. Obviously, a little expensive but well made and sturdy. You get what you pay for.
Works Great
Works Great! Better than I had hoped for... Purchased a Stab-a-Nut a few years ago don't get me wrong it also works great, but with the gumballs I have what took hours now takes minutes.. Very satisfying too! ;)
Super easy to assemble and super easy…
Super easy to assemble and super easy to use! What once took me nearly 4 back breaking hours to clean up gum balls in my yard, now takes only 30 minutes to an hour of very easy work! It's expensive but well worth the money spent!
Great product!
The shipping was fast. Customer service was fast and super friendly.
The pill behind works great. The family is so excited to be able to walk in the yard barefoot!
Wonderful!
Fast, efficient, Bab-A-Nut works excellently! saves my back and picking up by hand or raking
This Really Works!
Thank you! I have a 1/3 acre with a nearly 100 year old Sweet Gum tree on the property. The 36in. Harvester is wonderful. It even picks up small twigs and leaves! It’s easy to push and empty; I couldn’t want anything more!
