Verry poor company cost me double to put the car right, this company was recommended I will be letting the garages know not to recommend anymore. Read my full story on Google review. If it stops anyone else being taken for a fool. This review will be worth while

Recommended by another garage as they were so booked up. Husband called and booked our car in a month ago. We both the day off work today to take it through, turned up and they had nothing in their books to show our booking. Terrible way to run a business. Looking at other reviews we are not the first this has happened to. Would not recommend.

I had my car fixed here last month on recommendation. The guy I saw was ace, explained everything patiently, to someone who knows nothing about cars, showed me how much the part cost and said they could do it the next day. It was fixed really quickly, they charged what they quoted, were helpful throughout and car still works 👌🏼 Thank you!

Booked in for a "diagnosis" They ran a computer check and drive check and advised things were within expectations of the cars age. NO COST

I was referred to Automatic Transmissions, Preston, to diagnose a problem with gear changes. The young man explained to me, in great detail but easily understandable language, what the potential problem was, following my description of symptoms. Rough costs of repair alternatives (new part, reused part etc) were discussed. Then when he went to the car to run the diagnostics, told me to forget what he'd explained and he was pretty certain what fault would show up (my car was quite an old 5speed model and the advice he had originally given me was for a 6speed newer model). He was spot on - diagnostics showed what was at fault and thankfully cheaper options to sort were now open to me. No charge was made for the diagnostic and given the knowledge and apparent passion for his job, I would highly recommend Automatic Transmissions, Preston and would go there again myself, if I needed to.

I was recommended this business by a local garage.
I needed a DRG oil change on my VW Caddy automatic gearbox. The staff were polite, helpful and informative. The car was accepted, serviced and ready for when they said it would be at the agreed price. I couldn't ask for more. Being polite goes a long way :)

Warning!!!!!Worst experiences we've had to deal with with this company. They take no responsibility (after paying so much money) even if its under warranty, left us waiting for months until we finally gave up to have it repaired elsewhere!!Keep away!!!

Slow reaction to accelerator, then surge of power.

I had problems that my garage said were a transmission problem, called Auto Transmissions Preston who said they would have a look. Took the car in and they identified the problem, helped me to find the right part for my garage to replace (as it wasn't a transmission problem) and explained why and how this problem manifests. I had looked online for an answer but this problem was not identified there. I found the staff to be friendly and very helpful and would definitely recommend them.

Absolutely APPALLING customer service. The technician diagnosed the fault as a faulty solenoid on the gearbox and said a part needed to be ordered from Mazda in Japan. Part was apparently ordered, however 9 weeks later still not received. Then to our surprise we walk into the office and the incredibly rude owner of the company said that they won’t send the part anymore. Then he goes on and says that he wouldn’t work on the type of gearbox anyway - despite him supposedly ordering the part from Mazda and wasting my time completely. Tried to call the man who ordered the part for me and someone else answered. He said he wasn’t in the office and so I asked for a call back. He responded “WHY DONT YOU SHOUT LOUDER AND MAYBE HE’LL HEAR YOU” - to that point I was beyond disgusted. AVOID and go somewhere else. The owner and the staff are disgusting and should hang their heads in shame. Pathetic organisation. Will be reporting to Trading Standards

I was informed by a local main dealer that following a service they suspected an oil leak from the auto box of my 2014 xj Jag the following day I booked the car into your Preston branch for confirmation Mark greeted me and thoroughly inspected my car gave a complete bill of health much to my relief Marks greeting and general good hearted attitude is to be admired.Thank you I will make sure my friends get to know of your service

Don’t bother, they didn’t write down my booking so I wasted a 60 mile round trip only to find they weren’t expecting me and couldn’t do the work for hours. Not everyone has hours to waste because an unprofessional company cant even make a note of your booking. They didn’t care and ignored me. Find somewhere else to go

Absolutely fantastic garage. The only one willing to even take on our old campervan. Grant, James and Co workers are polite, honest, helpful and care about their customers and take pride in their work. Thank you all so very much. Keith and Cath.

Called in to their garage on Emmanuel Street. They possibly are quite knowledgeable in gearboxes from what a few people have stated, but their approach to me as a potential customer was really poor. I would say customer service 0 and big attitude 10. Thought I had a problem, which turned out not to be correct, but there are better ways to talk to people. Nil polite behaviour or conversation, so do not expect any.....

Having spent all my professional life working with automotive engineers I have developed an instinct for recognising those who just talk the talk as opposed to those who actually walk the walk.
The guys at Automatic Transmissions, Preston are not just good, these guys are VERY good. Several amateurs masquerading as experts had tried - without success - to sort out the gearbox fault on my 1997 Jaguar XK8, but they had all left traces of their poor workmanship, most notably by fitting incompatible components.
The guys at Automatic Transmissions systematically unravelled all the previous errors and then put me back on the road with the growl restored to my Jaguar, and a big smile on my face .
And the guys at Automatic Transmissions, Preston even talked nicely to the mechanics at the last garage who'd had a go at fixing my car to point out that faulty components had been fitted.
As a result, that garage refunded my last invoice in full in exchange for the faulty parts. Bonus.
And the moral of this tale – you can waste time and money with the bodgers ... and then pay the Professionals to clean up the mess and put it right. OR you can pay the Professionals what it costs to get the job right first time.
A no-brainer really.

Quoted me £1500 to fix my DSG box after a £60 diagnostic bill! They said problem is the clutch and Mechanic need cloning trying to convince me that’s a need a whole gearbox. Did a bit of research and turned out my clutch is fine costed me £200 to get is back on the road. Well done Automatic Transmission Preston but ain’t coming back for sure, won’t recommande!! Avoid

My DSG gearbox failed 2 weeks after these cowboys "fixed" it and no waaranty for cash. AVOID!!

Called the garage on Emmanuel Street after reading good reviews. I was laughed at and belittled when I asked for a quote to repair. Horrible people. Won't recommend. I went to the garage on Walker Street and they were great! A*

Had intermitent problem with gear box for 12 months in and out of various garage for long and sometimes expensive repairs all with no solution to the problem.
Phoned Auto Trans from France they identified the problem for us over the phone. After a 17 day repair job in dealership resulting in vehicle no longer driveable returned to England on low loader to Auto Trans and repaired after 12 hours.Pleasant and helpful staff and management who really know a gear box. Cannot recommend highly enough

A repair valued at in excess of £900 by the main dealer carried out while I waited in one hour for a fraction of the cost. Fantastic service and a marked improvement in gear changes and driving comfort. Thanks guys and you’ll be first port of call should I need further work, wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Automatic Transmissions Preston.
