About aql

Written by the company

At aql, we continuously strive to enhance public trust and strengthen security in telecommunications. We’ve been in business since 1998 and we do not condone or support (or turn a blind eye) to any misuse of our network or numbers. We collaborate with government bodies, law enforcement, and regulators to enable safer communication for all.

In almost all instances when there is a suspected scam or similar on one of our numbers, it’s not aql, but overseas scammers using third-party networks to spoof calls. If you believe you’ve been contacted by a suspicious or fraudulent party, please report it to us here (we can act more quickly if you let us know the exact number that called you). In addition to reporting to us, you can also report issues directly to Ofcom too.

aql is one of the UK’s most innovative telecom operators, playing a pivotal role as a ‘hidden enabler’ of smart cities. We specialise in Messaging, Voice, Data Centre solutions, Connectivity, and IoT, securely connecting people, organisations, and devices to drive societal improvement.

Our goal is to help organisations adapt to technological change by leveraging innovation, creating a better future for everyone.

*This company keeps having reviews…

*This company keeps having reviews removed to suit their illigal activities, allowing companies to use their lines to contact individuals to attempt to scam you. The company need closing down and the directors imprisoned.

Yet again trying to remove reviews. Their business facilitates criminal activities! I still receive calls from numbers that are based on the aql network... i will keep reposting the review as it is factual and the comoany needs to be taken down and those who run it arrested!

I will re write my review as trust…
I will re write my review as trust pilot have decided to again skew the review process for those that pay. This company allows iligal scams and fraud to take place on the lines and numbers they control. I am constantly bombarded by numbers that link back to this company that are allowing criminals to invade people's privacy and giving them access to people's information. I have reported to trading standards.

To trust pilot please let myself and everyone else on here who have genuine grope with this company soliciting illigal activities such as scams, fraud and general constant harassment to take place.. how do we show documentation..

Well I now block and report ALL AQL…
Well I now block and report ALL AQL managed numbers. They are basically a back door for scammers and fraudsters. They need shutting down. I'm sick to death of them now.

Just to add to all, do a search for the company at companies House to pull up the person running the company.

In response* No I will not report them to you I will report ALL AQL numbers and block them all to the usual websites that inform people of AQL scam company! You are a criminal company allowing a platform for fraudsters and scammers. I will also be reporting your company to the authorities for illegal activities and do everything I can to get you closed down and put out of business! It's scum companies like yours that allow misery to prolificate

Date of experience: 18 December 2023

In reply yet again to your usual response... yes we know your a whole saler.. but guess what your company is enabling this type of missuse. Near enough all nunber called from aql hosted lines are fraud and spam calls.
And Again NO I WILL NOT REPORT THE NUMBERS!! People are not doing your job for you. Your company is breaking the law, anything in your terms and conditions working with offcom, police, etc. is just lip service, you will do this after the event when you have made your money and helped spread missery! Also you have broken the law by obtaining my email address and contacting me. I gave you no consent to contact me and under GDPR legislation you have broken the law. Remove all information NOW.

We completely understand your ongoing frustration regarding nuisance calls. As an Ofcom-regulated telecommunications provider, aql has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards fraud. We employ rigorous KYC (Know Your Customer) checks and automated fraud detection systems to prevent our network from being misused.

We hear your refusal to provide the specific numbers that have been calling you. Please be assured that asking for these details is not an attempt to make you do our job.

Due to the widespread industry issue of overseas scammers illegally 'spoofing' (faking) legitimate UK numbers, it is technically impossible for us to trace and block the specific calls affecting you without knowing the exact number and the time it called.
Whenever a specific number is reported to us, we investigate immediately and suspend services if any criminal activity is identified. We respect your decision not to share the numbers with us, but please understand that without this information, we are unable to launch an investigation into the calls you are receiving.
Finally, please note that replying to public reviews is a standard feature of this platform, and we only do so to offer assistance and clarify our position. We remain committed to combating telecom fraud and our team is ready to help should you choose to share those details with us via our reporting tool at https://aql.com/report-a-suspected-scam-or-nuisance-number/

Scam callers

Scam callers, same number claiming to be virgin, hm tax and plus net, and that's only today. Blocked the number and will report to trading standards as aql clearly aren't interested in who uses their, supposed service, if they aren't the scammers I'd be pleasantly surprised. Just block the number and report it.

Please be aware that aql is a wholesale provider of phone numbers. We are not a call centre and do not make cold calls to anyone. We do not support or condone scammers, and work to ensure our phone numbers are not used in this way.

If you continue to have issues with these numbers, please reach out and we will help you

If you’ve used a service such as “Who Called Me” and found numbers tracking back to aql, please note that does not mean we have called you. Often, overseas scammers use third party networks to spoof calls (to make the calls look like they’re from one of our numbers). This is unfortunately beyond our control and is an industry-wide problem. If the number that has called you does belong to a customer of aql, we will thoroughly investigate the issue and let you know the result through your support ticket.

We’re keen to help you investigate this issue, but in order to do so, we need a few more details. If you could please go to https://aql.com/report-a-suspected-scam-or-nuisance-number/ and provide the following:
- the numbers that called you
- the number on which you received the calls
- the time and date of the calls

Then we will help you look into the issue. We will use this ticket to keep you 100% informed of the outcome.

If you’re not able to provide this additional information we understand, however, our ability to help and launch an investigation will unfortunately be limited due to lack of necessary details.

This is clearly a scam caller

This is clearly a scam caller. We're on a telephone preference list, and somehow this caller keeps spamming us. Last two times, when I picked up - they hung up. At least the second time they said "hello".

Don't know what software they are using, but they managed to bypass our 4 rings and send to voicemail service on our phone. It rang for 12 minutes yesterday. I was on a work TEAMS call and it was exceptionally annoying.

Frauds

Frauds

Their excuse they provide in reply to 1 star reviews here is fraudulent. They are also pressuring Trustpilot to remove 1 star reviews with this insane technicality that they are fabricating that they provide numbers, they don't cold call people.
AQL sell your details to scammers and cold callers and provide no provisions to remove your number from their database's and now they have managed to swindle Trustpilot into removing negative reviews.

I will continue to post this everytime it is deleted

Dear A Smith

Hello,
We understand your frustration with unsolicited calls, but we must clarify several factual inaccuracies in your comments to ensure a transparent public record.

Our Role: aql is a wholesale telecommunications provider. We provide the network infrastructure (numbers) used by other businesses. We do not operate a call centre, we do not make cold calls, and we do not own or sell databases of personal contact details. To do so would be a direct violation of GDPR and our regulatory obligations.

Review Integrity: We do not 'pressure' platforms to remove feedback. However, we do flag reviews that contain demonstrably false information about our business operations, as per Trustpilot’s own guidelines.

Caller ID Spoofing: Many nuisance calls use 'spoofing'—a technique where scammers mask their true identity by displaying a number they do not own. This is an industry-wide criminal issue that we work tirelessly to combat.

Because we take network security and privacy seriously, we cannot investigate these claims through a public forum or via informal correspondence. To take action, our compliance team requires specific technical data to trace the origin of the calls.

The most effective way to address this is to provide the time, date, and numbers involved via our official Reporting Portal: [https://aql.com/report-a-suspected-scam-or-nuisance-number/].

Once submitted, this allows us to investigate the source and, where our terms of service have been breached, terminate the offending service immediately.

Best regards, The aql Team

Never got RFO for total power outage in 2020 despite promises

In May 2020 their datacentre DC2 suffered a major power outage. Quoting one of the last updates we were told "[AQL] will, of course, share the results of the investigations once they have concluded. Once we have a confirmed date for the final steps, I will let you know so I can answer those questions." They never gave us anything past the initial interim report, despite over a year of us trying to get answers through direct support channels. We were met with silence even after this, having reached out as high as their CEO. Dissatisfied with this service, which was a huge down-turn from how the relationship and their operations were when we started years earlier, and also faced with looming price-hikes, we left at the end of a contract period.

Why say this almost two years after we'd left? Because AQL's marketing team sent us, a former customer, an invitation for review!
