Flood report rejected by the environmental as not within local standereds, after asking Ambiental to correct this was told will only do this when invoice is paid, then a new report will be sent at extra cost? if the company is so good at this why has it been rejected and this is the first time I have been asked to pay again to correct work to be produced feb 2023.
I just had to send this email to the consultant:
"Nick, This delay is causing us severe problems, and your lack of response to my requests for an update is not helpful either. We have been using Ambiental for a number of years now, but the way you are dealing with this makes me rethink if we can use you again.
We instructed you on 27 September, 35 days ago. You said 25-30 working days, and we made clear from the beginning that this is a time sensitive piece of work.
I am deeply disappointed in the response we have been receiving from you, as a client I feel disrespected and ignored."
In fact on previous schemes this same thing happened, and I am sadly not surprised to see that other clients have had the same experience.
We all understand projects sometimes get delayed - but we were promised shortly before the deadline all is on track, but when chasing them after the deadline passed were told the staff member was ill - with no further updates or commitment to a revised timescale. Their delay has meant our whole build program had to be pushed back - sadly that is money from our pockets, and they don't have to bear the consequences of their actions.

We’re very sorry we didn’t meet your expectations on this occasion. We appreciate that our communication was not sufficient and it has caused you delays in your project, for which we can only apologise.
We always strive to achieve our projected timescales, but unfortunately a number of internal and external factors have impeded our ability to deliver the level of service we want to. However, this has given us the opportunity to audit our current communication processes to help us avoid this in the future, with the aim of preventing similar issues occurring.
Having spoken with the Project Manager, we understand that the project has now been issued to you. We appreciate your continued use of the Ambiental Environmental Assessment services over the years and hope that we will be given the opportunity to work with you again in the future.
My architectural firm has appointed Ambiental to provide consultancy services on a number of projects during the past few years. Their performance has been average at best but in all cases, it was found necessary to chase after them to provide results. Recently we appointed them to provide a tree survey on a site in Hailsham along with an impact assessment and method statement, details that we had agreed would be provided in discussion with the LPA's planning officer.
Eventually, after chasing up the consultant, Oliver Hardy, who was/is dealing with the matter the survey arrived but not the impact assessment and method statement. Upon requesting the latter and after having to chase him up for a response he informed us that the reason the assessment and statement were not provided was that it was deemed they were not necessary! Currently Hardy is not responding to requests to provide a reason for his statement and as a consequence, we are in the process of having to appoint alternative consultants.
We approach consultancies on a competitive tender basis and in this case Ambiental was marginally less expensive than others. However, the saving our client made is offset by the inferior service provided. Our advice is to avoid using this company unless you want a less than professional service. We, needless to say, will not be considering them for future projects.

We’re sorry we didn’t meet your expectations on this occasion. As previously discussed with you following on from the review, we did have discussions at the beginning of the project as our professional felt the assessment and statement was not needed at this early stage of the project based on their experience. This was discussed to save your end client time and costs. We always strive to put our client needs first and not provide reports/services that are not required . However, we acknowledge on this occasion that this application was different to those we have previously supported and our decision making was not adequately communicated to you, for which we can only apologise.
Your comments have shown us where we need to improve our processes and communication with our ecology consultants and clients, and this has given us an opportunity to audit this internally. This will allow us to prevent a similar issue occurring in the future.
We hope our direct communications with you have sufficiently explained our initial approach and why these documents were not progressed. However, an order is an order and the client requested this document regardless of experience. We are now progressing with the impact assessment and method statement as instructed.
We look forward to the potential of continuing to work with you on this project and those in the future. If there’s anything further you’d like to discuss with us, please contact our office and we will be happy to help you further.
I needed a flood risk report in support of a house purchase and was finding it difficult to find anyone who did this sort of work. I contacted Ambiental and was immediately put in touch with someone who could assist. Details were provided for the various costs depending on the type of report required and the whole process went very smoothly from then on.

Deadlines were constantly missed from an Ecology point of view. Having to constantly follow up, with the eventual reports being 6 weeks late. Extremely disappointing

We’re very sorry we didn’t meet your expectations on this occasion. Unfortunately, with the ongoing COVID restrictions and issues that come with it, our ecologists have seen many unavoidable delays with surveys and reports this year of which we’ve had to react on a government guidance basis.
We’ve been working hard on improving our workflow to accommodate the recent changes but as discussed throughout the project much of it is out of our control and our usual way of working. It seems we didn’t reach our usual high level of service with you, and for that we do apologise. An internal review is on going to explore how best to overcome these challenges if they were to arise again.
