Unsafe and Unprofessional Work Practices

Ambience Air installed a ducted air conditioning system into our home some years ago and we have had no operational issues with it since. However we have since put our home up for sale and the potential Buyer had a Building and Structural Inspection carried out (as is his right under the Contract for Sale). The inspector discovered that one of the structural elements of the roof (a collar tie) had been removed to facilitate the installation of the AC unit in the roof space. Collar ties are an integral part of the design of a roof structure This structural element was not replaced at the time of the installation rendering the roof structurally unsound. This act is not only an unsafe work practice but is also unprofessional. When this problem came to light we brought it to the attention of Ambience Air and asked them to make good their shortcomings by replacing the collar tie as this constituted a 'Major Structural Defect' under the Contract of Sale and as such would prevent the sale of the property going through if not rectified.

Ambience Air refused to replace the collar tie claiming that it must have been removed by others at a later date. This excuse does not stand up to scrutiny especially given that the AC unit could not have been installed without removing the collar tie and the fact that the section of the collar tie that was removed lay underneath the flexible ducting that Ambience Air installed and the cabling to the unit.

In addition to removing the collar tie Ambience Air also snapped one of the roof battens that support the roof tiles when carrying out the installation. This roof batten was not repaired or replaced. This resulted in a very real risk of someone falling through the roof if they walked across it for whatever reason

In short Ambience Air has demonstrated that it carries out work in an unsafe manner, it is unprofessional, it does not accept responsibility for their actions and their customer and after sales service leaves a lot to be desired especially given that their corporate mission statement is "being a business based on outstanding customer service with an absolute commitment to your customers".
