Suspicious Cryptocurrency Exchange Promoted Through Telegram – Potential Arbitrage Scam
I came across AlteCoin through a Telegram account promoting what appeared to be an arbitrage trading opportunity involving ETH/USDT.
The advertised strategy was straightforward:
Buy ETH on a reputable exchange such as Binance or Bybit at approximately $2,246.
Transfer the ETH to AlteCoin.
Sell it on AlteCoin at approximately $2,538.
Withdraw the USDT and repeat the process.
They were advertising an apparent profit opportunity of approximately 13% on ETH, one of the most liquid cryptocurrencies in the world.
Think about that for a moment. If an exchange genuinely offered ETH at a price 13% above the global market price, professional arbitrage traders and automated trading systems would be competing to exploit that discrepancy almost immediately.
This raises serious questions about the legitimacy of the advertised trading opportunity.
What made the situation even more concerning was the Telegram administrator promoting this scheme. When I questioned the legitimacy of the exchange and asked reasonable questions about the price discrepancy and the ability to withdraw funds, the administrator blocked me instead of providing any meaningful explanation or verifiable evidence.
A legitimate cryptocurrency exchange should have no problem answering basic questions about its operations, liquidity, regulatory status, and withdrawal mechanisms.
Before trusting this platform with your money, ask yourself:
Who legally operates AlteCoin?
Where is the company registered?
Is its trading volume independently verifiable?
Is the advertised ETH price backed by genuine market liquidity?
Can users independently verify successful withdrawals to external wallets?
Why is an apparently massive arbitrage opportunity being distributed through Telegram?
I have not deposited funds into this platform, so I cannot claim to have personally experienced a failed withdrawal. However, the promotional method, extraordinary advertised price discrepancy, lack of independently established credibility, and the administrator's response to legitimate questions are major warning signs.
My recommendation: Stay away from this platform unless its legitimacy and actual withdrawal capabilities can be independently verified. Do not transfer your ETH simply because someone on Telegram promises easy arbitrage profits.
A displayed balance and a profitable trade on an unfamiliar website mean absolutely nothing until you can withdraw real money to a wallet you control.
